Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2453 A Personal Disciple?

”…!”

The crowd was stunned as they saw Davis arrogantly strut off his pompous nature once he won.

Everyone felt that it was over for this outer disciple, no, inner disciple.

He had somehow lucked out with his slap landing right on that square-faced manʼs punchable face as they wished, but with him offending every core disciple, they couldnʼt help but shake their heads. They felt that he had essentially dug his own grave.

”Even if he had a solid foundation and a strong body that is three levels higher, should he be stupid enough to offend this many core disciples?”

”True. Every single one of them can cross four levels with their prowess, and thatʼs not something you could see the majority of the Aurora Cloud Gate disciples do.”

”Moreover, their backgrounds are also not easily anyone could go against. Did having a true disciple as a backer get to his head? Who is that white-robed beauty?”

Some people who arrived at this conclusion couldnʼt help but turn to look at Myria, wondering who she was, as they still couldnʼt figure out who she was from her figure and eyes. They couldnʼt find her name either. If she was a true disciple, then how come her name wasnʼt in the rankings?

The True Disciple Rankings - Immortal, had all the names of the true disciples. It displayed all the names of the true disciples as the number was less compared to the lower-tiered disciples, but even as they scanned through the entire name list, they couldnʼt see a new name being added to it.

”What the…?”

Even in that group of people who noticed this minute detail, they noticed something else. If she truly was a true disciple who didnʼt have her name displayed in the rankings, then that could only mean that she had suppressed her cultivation to Immortal Stage for some reason, was a hidden ranker who never showed her face as there was still some unknowns or… she was the personal disciple of a Grand Elder!

After all, as far as they knew, only a Grand Elderʼs personal disciple would be worthy of wearing the true disciple emblem. As for an Elderʼs personal disciple, they would be wearing a two-colored cloud emblem by default, which would make them a core disciple.

For this lucky inner disciple to be strutting off his arrogance like this without a limit, they definitely felt that she was a personal disciple of a Grand Elder, and as they saw her remain unmoved, that speculation in their hearts became stronger and stronger.

Instantly, they came to understand that this true disciple planned to establish her might using her subordinates. This way, she could attract the true disciples who didnʼt show up almost all year long to have a proving battle.

After all, personal disciples had equal status to core disciples and true disciples, but unless they proved themselves worthy in the Proving Grounds, most perks were not awarded to them, so they didnʼt take undue advantage of other deserving disciples.

Coming to this conclusion, their smiles became profound as they took out some snacks to eat as they watched the show.

Many footsteps echoed in the central area, some huge and quaking, some poised and untraceable.

As many as thirty core disciples quickly showed up to Davisʼs arrogant declaration of challenge, staring at him with some interest.

Davis also turned around, looking shocked that he had attracted so many core disciples, his expression appearing to be at a loss. He looked as though he wanted to run away as soon as possible but forcefully endured the pressure, showing some guts as he stood in his place.

But inwardly, Davis was indeed astonished by the group of people he had attracted.

Not because of their prowess but because of their auras, indicating that they were from a particular background, many that he had never seen before but could imagine being present. Among them, those with dragon and phoenix auras were quite prominent, indicating that they had such blood within them.

ʼMakes sense… a prowess thatʼs four levels above isnʼt something any ordinary immortal could achieve.ʼ

Reason told him that these people were from major powers. Their backgrounds were noble and high enough that ordinary people wouldnʼt be easily able to offend them, and since there were also alliances here, he imagined that they were all part of their own original powers.

”Junior, who are you?”

”Youʼre just a Level One Immortal with some ability, but you dare to yap your mouth in front of us?”

”Do you want to die an early death?”

The core disciples stood below the stage as they pointed at Davis. He saw that they possessed the aura of a dragon, a phoenix, and a kirin, their undulations appearing to be quite oppressive as they tried to pressure him.

As for the other core disciples and the ones that were still appearing near the stage, they simply watched the show with amused expressions on their faces.

ʼIt seems like these three have some weight...ʼ

Davis guessed before he scoffed and put his hands over his back, seemingly standing like an expert.

”Who wants to challenge me?”

”Challenge you?” A man with an azure robe scoffed.

He appeared to be fierce-looking with sharp eyes and a pointed nose. He also had azure blue hair falling down his shoulders. Moreover, he was the one who exuded the aura of a kirin.

”Donʼt be so arrogant, junior brother. First, name yourself like a cultivator should and be respectful to your seniors. Thereafter, you can stand on that stage without having to embarrass yourself.”

”If you want to know my name, then defeat me first. But if you donʼt want to challenge me, I guess I can understand where you stand.”

Davis shrugged before his lips produced a smirk, ”Youʼre unwilling to challenge me, afraid that youʼll lose.”

”…”

The azure-robed manʼs expression turned cold. However, he could see that this arrogant disciple wanted to run using a provocative attitude. How could he fall for such a simple trick, even as a core disciple, go as far as to challenge an inner disciple?

That was an embarrassment for him unless they had some vendetta between them. However, he mockingly smiled.

”Do you think I wonʼt challenge you?”

He jumped and appeared on the stage, landing in front of Davis at some distance, ”I, Goren Azuremark, will take on your pitiful existence.”

He folded his hands and stood straight, radiating oppressive undulations that caused the crowd to sigh in amazement as even they felt hard to breathe. They didnʼt have the courage to face such an overbearing existence but hearing the following words of the new disciple, they almost spat out what they were drinking again.

”Alright, hand over the payment if you want to challenge me to a promotion battle.”

”Promotion battle?” Goren Azuremarkʼs expression became amused, ”Are you an idiot? Iʼm a core disciple. Should I promote myself to an inner disciple, essentially degrading myself?”

”Ahaha~”

The crowd couldnʼt help but burst into laughter, feeling pity for Davis. They felt that he was quite foolish, driveling nonsense from the start.

”Of course, it isnʼt to become an inner disciple but for me to become a core disciple. Do you think Iʼm going to battle for free? You were the one who challenged me while I just issued that Iʼm willing to battle a core disciple, so naturally, you should pay up. What, you canʼt pay? Sigh, who wouldʼve thought that a core disciple of the Aurora Cloud Gate is so poor.”

Davis shook his head, ”Did I make a mistake by entering it?”

”You…!”

This time, it wasnʼt only the core disciples that were angered but the entire crowd.

”Senior brother, Goren. Kick his ass!”

”Yeah, pay him up and show him that one shouldnʼt be running their mouth even if theyʼre innocent.”

”How dare he insults our Aurora Cloud Gate? Courting death!”

The sea of criticizing voices filled the Proving Grounds, causing Davis to be taken aback, his expression trembling as though he was scared. However, inwardly, flowers were blossoming in his heart. The kind of anger being targeted at him truly refreshed his soul.

It was like little ants were screaming at him.

Ellia also giggled while Myria lightly shook her head. They both knew that their maddening voices only served to fuel one purpose.

”Hmph! Itʼs only a hundred Mid-Level Immortal Crystals. Fine, have it your way.”

Goren Azuremark threw a hundred Mid-Level Immortal Crystals at Davis, causing the latterʼs expression to curve into a sly smile.
