Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 243: Volume 4, Chapter 27, Betrayal (7)_2

He would rather be driven from office than bow and scrape to sell out the country for personal glory. Despite the fact that by making a seemingly logical decision, cloaked in the righteous language of propaganda, he could continue his presidential term and obtain enough personal benefits and prestige. But he did not do so; he chose a path he walked firmly and will continue to walk firmly. That path is resistance until ultimate victory!

The voices of opposition politicians could not sway his will, and the misled populace could not alter his decision. Because Hamilton knew that compromise now meant failure in the future! With the keen insight of an excellent politician and loyalty to his nation, he pushed himself into the eye of the storm.

The blood and lives sacrificed by the Federation must be reciprocated. The Federation’s dignity and territorial integrity should deserve respect from any nation. The future of the Federation is not subjugation, not weakness, but independence and freedom! Everyone who invades or attempts to invade this country should and must know that the Leray Federation has never feared threats and wars. The Federation’s President is an outstanding politician, not a vile politician.

Nevertheless, Russell knew all this could only be maintained for one to two months! If the situation continued to deteriorate, and if Hamilton couldn’t produce convincing results, then this President, who had led the Leray Federation to victories in the wars of national defense, would be driven from office before the final victory. All the decisions he made before would become his mistakes.

Turning off the TV, Russell opened the interstellar map, and as the holographic map of Tanville appeared before him, he let out a long sigh. James had already revealed his initial moves, and Liebgoet had also acted. Now, the only cards in his hand were the Leray Federation’s maximum effort within one month and the Freedom Front led by Tian Xingjian.

Hope lies in the Freedom Front’s actions behind enemy lines, which could drive James to execute his Military Department cleansing plan and further descend into madness. Only if a powerful and representative opposition emerged within Gazalin, and only if the Gazalin army controlled by Liebgoet was disrupted, could he have a chance to turn the tide!

”Report to General, the 9th Division’s Reconnaissance Team has brought news that Gazalin’s transport fleet is gradually returning.”

Russell’s thoughts were interrupted by Hamid’s report, making him frown. This transport fleet, which appeared out of nowhere, was three days later than the expected return time. On this battlefield where every second counts, what could have caused Liebgoet to waste three whole days of transport capacity?

”Commander, General Reinhardt orders the regiment to depart immediately and join the investigation team led by Prince George.”

Bonnie put down the defense plan in her hand, her beautiful brows furrowing slightly. She waved the communications soldier away. She couldn’t understand why Reinhardt, who had never left Tanville during the Abnosk Fighting Tournament, would issue an order to withdraw all the remaining Mythical Army soldiers, leaving her with less than a company of troops to cooperate with the Royal Guard for royal security.

What major incident happened on the Biekelan Planet to require the entire Mythical Army and so urgently?

Shaking her head slightly, Bonnie quickly discarded the slight doubt in her mind. Reinhardt was someone who always knew exactly what he was doing and capable of doing, and in this world, there was no one better than him. He never needed others to worry about him, not even her.

That detestable tournament in Abnosk had already started, and what she had to do was ensure the royal family’s safety until Reinhardt finished his business.

Taking the coat from the hanger, Bonnie left the North Building 2 of the Mythical Army base. A luxury flying car had been waiting for a long time. At the thought of having to perform tasks in the unpleasant Abnosk Prison, her brows furrowed even tighter. That guy named Zhang Yuan had also been thrown into the tournament list; if she didn’t go, the mechanical genius valued by Reinhardt might come out of prison as just a pile of parts.

Daring to send the Mythical Army’s researcher into the fighting arena, whoever made this decision, must provide an explanation to the Mythical Army. No one could toy with the people of the Mythical Army, even if the person was just a prisoner.

Unpleasant place, unpleasant tournament, unpleasant people! As Bonnie got into the flying car, she strongly felt that being left here might be a huge mistake!

The fighting arena had been fully constructed. This circular venue made of modular components looked outwardly like a giant popcorn box. Though it would be dismantled in just one week, the interior decor was still lavishly extravagant. Crystal chandeliers, cashmere carpets, comfortable sofa seats, plus fully intelligent lighting and service systems, made everyone who walked in forget it was a prison.

And the resting rooms, entertainment rooms, bars, and casinos scattered across six floors made it a paradise for gentlemen. Here, Gazalin’s nobles could indulge in revelry for a whole week. In the six days preceding the tournament, there would be sixteen matches. Apart from Saturday, which had only one match to allow nobles to adjust their state for the final on Sunday, there would be death matches involving sixteen fighters each morning, afternoon, and evening from Monday to Friday.
