Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 220: Volume 4 Chapter 13 The Use of Fatty

The prison yard bell rang, marking the end of the time outside. Andre exhaled deeply, trying to regain his cold demeanor. He cast a complicated look at the snoring Fatty, then turned to Rex and said, ”There’s no time today. Tomorrow...” He glanced at Rex’s injuries, waved his hand, and turned to Tou’er, saying, ”Forget it... Tomorrow, bring him to see me!”

He ordered a group to carry the injured back to their cells. The bell had already rung a second time. According to the prison rules, not even Andre could break them. When the bell rings three times, the cell doors will automatically close. Any living creature lingering in the corridors outside their cells will be mercilessly shot by the automatic patrol guns. During these ten minutes, not even the guards will come in! Though there are identity identifiers, ever since a guard was accidentally killed by a malfunctioning automatic patrol gun, none of them would venture into the prison area during this time.

Andre slowly walked back to cell D17. He let the automatic door clang shut behind him and stood motionlessly for a while before punching the bed fiercely and cursing, ”Damn it! What kind of monster is that Fatty?!”

One of his subordinates suddenly pulled out a sharp three-edged bayonet, only ten centimeters long, from a steel tube on the bed, and exclaimed, ”Boss, we didn’t bring our tools today. Tomorrow, we’ll take him out directly! I don’t believe a dead man can sleepwalk!”

Andre coldly glared at this hindsight-driven subordinate, his face dark and silent. If they were to kill Fatty, the best time would have been to do it from the start! Now, the mistake was made, and the loss caused by Fatty was irreparable. Killing him now would be too easy! Moreover, such a weapon is to be used at critical moments or in large-scale brawls. If used solely to kill Fatty, even the guards, as stupid as pigs, would realize we have such a tool. At that point, it would be very difficult to explain our way out.

”Boss, maybe... this is not a bad thing.”

Andre’s icy eyes suddenly turned towards the voice. Speaking was one of his capable subordinates, a thin member of the Kak Clan. The Kak people are known for their cunning, a characteristic of a mediocre middle-tier ethnic group. This small fellow named Colin is one of the few inmates in Abnosk Prison who climbed to this position relying on his brain. His brilliant and meticulous mind was filled with all kinds of ideas. Colin could quickly calculate benefits, analyze situations, and instantly see through a person’s character and disguises. His words often hit the nail on the head, pinpointing problems before others could react.

However, Colin’s character was somewhat peculiar. At first, everyone only knew he was a murderer, but no one knew exactly what he had done. In Abnosk Prison, murderers filled every cell. So, for a little guy like him, no one would pay attention. Despite being labeled as a murderer, you couldn’t kill anyone here! Colin often got beaten, but he never fought back until one day, Colin, who had become Andre’s close confidant using his wits, twisted a strong traitor’s neck in front of everyone. From then on, no one dared to underestimate this small fellow, not even Andre!

Andre’s eyes softened when he saw Colin. He knew Colin wouldn’t speak without reason, and he realized Colin’s words resonated with his own thoughts. Turning bad into good, and foes into friends, was one of Andre’s survival strategies in Abnosk Prison.

After speaking, Colin quietly observed Andre while biting his fingernails bit by bit until they were a mess. Andre pondered and gestured for Colin to continue. Colin spat out a piece of nail residue stuck on his lips and said, ”When Fatty has a fit, he doesn’t feel pain. The level of attack everyone used just now, no one else in this prison could withstand! Even...” A sly glint appeared in Colin’s eyes, ”Even... Ghost couldn’t!”

Andre and all the inmates in the cell immediately understood what Colin meant! Ghost... This former special soldier of the Gazalin Empire is Abnosk Prison’s top killer star, long controlled by Gino, a leader of the opposing force to Andre. In several small-scale conflicts, Andre’s side suffered significant losses because of Ghost! Moreover... in a little while, it will be the Abnosk Prison fighting tournament! This competition is not only an event in the prison but a festive occasion for the entire Gazalin Nobles Circle! Like a grand festival of ancient Roman gladiatorial games! A true cold-blooded massacre!

This tournament, personally endorsed by Emperor James of the Gazalin Empire, is not only his favorite show but has also become a carnival festival for the entire Gazalin Nobles Circle over the past decade. The tournament lasts for a whole week, where hundreds of selected inmates fight round by round to determine the strongest! These fights... have no limits on life and death! And in the final match, the competition is truly to the death! Only the last winner can claim the huge prize! This prize can ensure the inmate, even if sentenced to five hundred years, has enough money to live well in prison!

If the crime is relatively minor or the inmate has undergone long-term rehabilitation and passed a professional crime psychology and mental evaluation, they might even receive a pardon from the Emperor!
