Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 225: Volume 4 Chapter 15 Elliot_2

Such a person with an enviable status and a happy family suddenly gave up everything and created a flawed combat plan, allowing a large portion of rebellious nobles and dissidents who could have been captured to escape. Then, separated from his wife and children, he walked into prison carrying a six-hundred-year sentence, starting to contribute his youth, life, freedom, and enthusiasm to his incomprehensible ideal.

Fatty completely couldn’t understand all this! Elliot wasn’t from a lower class nationality, hadn’t suffered too cruelly, at most he was just a dissident. Compared to his originally happy life, his current situation was like falling from heaven into hell. If it were Fatty, with a beautiful wife and a lovely child, he wouldn’t even risk crossing a street, let alone giving up everything to serve a six-hundred-year sentence!

What force drives countless people like Elliot to make such choices? Is it the spirit of adventure, heroism, social responsibility, or an excess of righteousness? Fatty didn’t know. He kept thinking repeatedly. To the ethnic group, Elliot didn’t fight for the Kak Clan; to the family, he wasn’t a responsible husband and father. If successful, Elliot would become a hero; if failed, he would just be a criminal! And an irresponsible criminal at that.

Was he extremely selfish or extremely selfless to abandon his family for his ideal? Was it worth it? Tian Xingjian couldn’t conclude. Understanding and admiration require different conditions. Fatty couldn’t understand it, but he couldn’t help but admire such a man bravely walking into here for an ideal.

”Let me tell you about the situation in the prison.” Elliot pulled out a form from the drawer and handed it to Tian Xingjian saying, ”It’s a very sensitive time now. Abnosk Prison has strengthened its security. Less than half a month before you came, a Mecha Guard Company was added to patrol the perimeter.”

Fatty took the form while picking up a pen to fill in his details, smiling, ”The guards will increase even more over time. The more people there are, the better. This way, our people will have a chance to infiltrate. He quickly filled in the details, then asked, ”Are the contact operations inside the prison and the tools and parts ready?”

Elliot nodded, ”Everything is ready. We have over thirty warriors here, all prepared. We’ve also got the tools and parts you requested, but we can only take them out for less than a week. Every weekend the prison conducts a check, and any shortage in tools or parts immediately causes problems.”

Tian Xingjian didn’t even lift his head, saying, ”We won’t need that much time. As long as they’re available when needed, we’ll put them back after using them. Checking once a week won’t cause any issues. By the way, how are those nobles?”

Elliot smiled slightly, ”Because of my initial plan, the nobles and political prisoners still somewhat trust me. After all, they have some connections. I am able to work here thanks to their arrangements. However, people generally don’t have much faith that we can successfully lead them out.”

Fatty paused his pen, astonished, ”You told them we are planning to escape?”

Elliot shook his head, ”Only Prince Sidney and three others know about the plan. These individuals have been screened and belong to the category that James wouldn’t accept even if they wanted to surrender for merit. The majority of people don’t know about our plan.”

Fatty nodded, ”The plan is already in place; it doesn’t matter much what they think. At that time, whether they want to escape or not, they will have to run. We don’t need to work on them. I just need the people we have infiltrated here. This plan can’t be completed by me alone, even if I exhaust myself. Additionally, we need to use those nobles’ influence to ensure no unexpected issues arise.” He paused, stood up, and looked outside through the blinds, continuing, ”I noticed none of those criminals in the prison are obedient. Used correctly, they could be our support. Used incorrectly, they could ruin our plan!”

Elliot frowned, ”I understand what you’re saying, but the nobles’ influence isn’t entirely effective. Several factions don’t respect them, even those who appear reverent outwardly still look down on each other privately. These violent criminals are tough and ruthless, and we’ve lost three brothers to them. I’m also troubled by this.”

Fatty handed the filled form to Elliot, thinking, ”We’ll take it step by step. There’s still time, the frontline battle won’t enter the critical stage so quickly. Without James making a decisive move, without cleansing the Military Department, Gazalin Country’s situation won’t become chaotic. Even if we escape, our survival space would be limited. For now, I’ll spar with these guys; I have some experience dealing with such people.”

Elliot kept the form, handed Fatty a work badge, whispered, ”In a few weeks, it will be the biennial prison fighting contest. At that time, all the forces in the prison will face reshuffling. The nobles and the Generals’ words may not be listened to by these prisoners, but we have a few guards that can help. Two of them are ours and some have benefited significantly from the nobles, and even hold some of their leverage. This period is the most chaotic. Take this opportunity to settle these violent criminals, bring them on board, it will be greatly beneficial to us. Almost all inmates in Abnosk Prison are serving sentences over forty years. For them, escape is something they dream about; it’s just about how to lead them.”

Fatty smiled slightly, it seemed Elliot hadn’t wasted his few years here and was quite sharp. His suggestions were targeted. Fatty originally planned to start with Andre’s influence, to build a force in the prison that nobody would dare to provoke and can cover some secrets.

After shaking hands with Elliot, Fatty turned and walked out of the room. Since entering the prison, he finally met one of his own, putting him in a very good mood. Moreover, with someone as shrewd as Elliot as an assistant, many things would be simpler. Especially his connections with the Freedom Front and the intricate relationships within the prison, which were essential for this escape.

Under the impatient gaze of ”Third Brother,” Fatty smilingly lined up to receive tools and was assigned to work on the assembly line of mechanical transmission shafts. The job was simple: align two matching shafts, install the shock absorber plates and springs, place them into the gearbox compatible with the engine, and finally send them to the automated production line for assembly by mechanical arms.

Although the work was simple, the intensity was quite high. There was no rest period during work, and even slightly slower assembly actions couldn’t keep up with the overall assembly line pace. As soon as any parts piled up beside a prisoner waiting for assembly, ”Third Brother” patrolling with a stick would appear and deliver a beating or scolding.

Eventually, being a mechanic, Fatty quickly became more adept at the simple work than those who had long worked there. The mechanical parts seemed to come alive in his hands, and they fell precisely into place with a casual drop. His dazzlingly fast hands soon caught the attention of the workshop guards.

On the 7th, the plane arrived in Urumqi. Since there were no flights to Chengdu on the 8th, I stayed in Urumqi for a day and arrived in Chengdu on the 9th, experiencing perilous moments. Encountered air turbulence when taking off, and nearly fog-locked the airport upon landing in Chengdu.

Rested a bit yesterday and handled some matters. Officially started concentrating on writing today. Writing at home feels much better, and my mind is no longer distracted by business matters.

Repaying debts is inevitable. The plan is as follows: Write as much as possible each day; updating one Chapter regularly while counting an additional Chapter as repaying the debt. During bursts, strive for three updates in a day.
