Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 238: Volume 4, Chapter 25, Betrayal (5)

”By the way, any news from Algarfar lately?” Speaking of Russell, Fatty was filled with frustration, especially recent days of insomnia had made him lose all respect for Russell.

Fatty felt that ever since the day they rescued Russell, he hadn’t had a good time. A mere soldier somehow violated some major rule, and being able to escape had become a skill. As a result, several generals took turns doing despicable deeds, forcing and deceiving him into jail.

Fatty had thought about revenge, in fact, he thought about it every day, wondering how he could get some ruthless payback. However, thinking was one thing, but realizing this wish seemed far off. It was Russell who guided him step by step, scheming against him from beginning to end. It was Bernadotte who threatened to transfer him to the front lines. Even Mihailovich, whom he accidentally spat in the face, joined the collaboration, using Ann Lei to deceive him. Damn it, three admirals!

In the end, even though he was expelled from the military and became an ordinary civilian, he still couldn’t escape being manipulated by the three admirals! And this civilian identity was probably designed long ago! The purpose was to make him have only the simple identity of Russell’s student, removing the label of the Leray Federation Army, so the Freedom Front would accept his leadership and pave the way for his operations behind enemy lines.

It was ridiculous that he was so complacent after learning of his expulsion, feeling proud for quite a while. Empty joy.

”No.” Elliot shook his head: ”We haven’t had any contact with the esteemed Algarfar for many days. I heard he went to the Federation capital to report on his duties. However, he will have someone send us timely war situation analyses afterward.”

”Esteemed?” Fatty put down the parts in his hand, covered the floor, and said angrily: ”Though this old geezer is supposed to be my teacher, I don’t feel there’s anything worthy of respect in him.”

These words, Fatty could only mutter to himself. In the eyes of the warriors of the Freedom Front, Russell was almost everything to them, equivalent to the supreme existence. If someone like Elliot, who couldn’t understand, heard it, wouldn’t it be a huge loss if it caused him to die of old age in Abnosk Prison?

Fatty always wanted to know, if one day he mimicked Russell’s voice to confess his love to someone, or simply hypnotized this old guy to get him to run naked in the streets, would he be court-martialed?

Though this question was hard to answer, every time he thought about it, it made him feel happy.

***************************************

Ann Lei gently stretched out her arms, a long, slender, and well-proportioned leg kicked up and down, her neck arched back beautifully and swan-like: ”One... two... three... ta-ta... two... two... three...”

This was a top-notch private club. Ever since Tian Xingjian was captured by the Gazalin Empire Royal Investigation Bureau and sent to Abnosk Prison, Ann Lei, through her student and friend, Princess Susan, James’ most beloved and only daughter, had been introduced to this most famous private club in Tanville as a dance and women’s body instructor.

Continuing to stay in Gazalin was mainly because Ann Lei couldn’t stop worrying about Tian Xingjian. Apart from having other tasks, she knew too little about Fatty’s tasks and plans. As a liaison officer of the Intelligence Department, she only had the list of Leray Federation undercover agents in Gazalin. But she wasn’t clear about the specific work and operations.

Whenever she thought about that person entering Abnosk Prison, Ann Lei’s heart would be jittery. She even couldn’t help showing her anxiety in front of Susan, which made the most beloved princess of James plead for help. The result was that Susan came back empty-handed, leaving Ann Lei both disappointed and relieved.

She knew well that letting Tian Xingjian out would greatly affect the entire mission, but she just couldn’t bear that feeling of dread. Professional ethics and a woman’s instincts tangled in Ann Lei’s heart, creating extreme psychological conflict that left her not knowing what to do.

No matter what, she couldn’t leave! Ann Lei became stubborn. As long as there was no news about that Fatty, she wouldn’t leave Tanville! So, she simply got a job and stayed, only loving dance from deep within could calm the contradictions in her heart. Every time she stood in the bright dance studio, dancing gracefully in front of the floor-to-ceiling mirrors surrounding her on three sides, she felt a sense of peace, as if one dance would end with that annoying Fat man standing foolishly in front of her.

So she could kick him hard, then cook a meal for him to stuff him to death!

”What are you thinking about?” Susan, in her tight-fitting practice clothes, stood in front of Ann Lei, waving her long fingers.

”Oh... stop.” Ann Lei came back to herself, calling out in a bit of a panic.

Susan looked around the empty dance studio, rubbed her forehead with a look of resignation, and rolled her eyes at Ann Lei: ”My dear teacher, today it’s just me. I’ve been stopped for a long time. If I kept going, would I be learning to daydream from you?”

Ann Lei blushed, gently punching Susan.

Susan was twenty years old this year, about the same height as Ann Lei, tall, slender, and with snow-white skin, with a pair of bright blue eyes and soft, shiny blonde hair. Her proud figure made her body exude a devilish allure. She was a typical Vibo clan beauty. Her outgoing and generous personality made her very beloved by her father, James, and admired by noble sons.
