Chapter 201: Volume 4 Chapter 4 Mecha Hidden Danger_3

Standing before the virtual 3D map, Reinhardt was cold and resolute, issuing various commands with fluid precision. Under his direction, the Mythical Army was methodically carrying out its tasks. Although there were no significant breakthroughs, the sporadic uprisings following four major assaults were already starting to subside. Under the nation’s military control led by the Mythical Army, the defense work of the Empire’s important sectors was gradually forming a relatively complete coordinated defense. Places where daily defenses had slackened were being tightened up again.

However, this coordinated defense system relied on the Mythical Army’s superior mobility and coordination capabilities. No one from the armed police, intelligence department, or regular army dared to disobey the Mythical Army’s deployments. Yet, this situation also tethered the combat power of the Mythical Army. Once the Mythical Army left, the coordinated defense system would encounter issues. The squabbling between various units without unified command was countless. Without the Mythical Army’s presence, normal functioning was impossible! Without Reinhardt’s unified command and the detailed coordination by the Mythical Soldiers-led grassroots organizations, who in the Gazalin Empire could manage this?

No one understood this better than Reinhardt. The Freedom Front’s assaults placed the Mythical Army in a challenging position. The Mythical Army was the royal’s fist; if this fist couldn’t be clenched together but instead was spread out, its combat power would drop by two levels. If another destabilizing event occurred, the Mythical Army would find itself in an extremely awkward situation.

Unexpected events could happen at any time, especially with the Freedom Front now under the leadership of Russell, who had become the chief military advisor of the Leray Federation. Internally and externally, if anything unexpected happened on the front lines, Reinhardt was almost certain that the Freedom Front would take action!

This was the Mythical Army’s weakness but also an opportunity for Reinhardt to completely eliminate the Freedom Front. He was following the Freedom Front’s steps. He was confident; no one could lead the Mythical Army by the nose unless he allowed it himself!

Now, it depended on when Russell would make his move. Reinhardt needed to consider finding out Russell’s ultimate goal. Once he knew this goal, the Mythical Army would have a tempting bait and a hook to reel in and completely crush Russell’s plot!

When George conveyed to Reinhardt the Mecha defect that Fatty pointed out, even Reinhardt’s composed demeanor couldn’t help but change. This Mecha laboratory had almost used up the best resources the Mythical Army could gather. Whether it was funding or equipment, everything was top-notch, and any demands from the researchers were met, all with the goal of elevating the technological level of the Mythical Army. The Mythical Army belonged to the Gazalin Royal Family, but in Reinhardt’s heart, it belonged to him!

Reinhardt coldly tossed the documents onto the table and instructed a nearby Serviceman, ”Go get Dr. Adrian to come here.”

The Serviceman took the order and left. The more Reinhardt thought about it, the angrier he became. These people were summoned by royal decree, and after several months, not only was the job progress slow, but the initial design even had such a big defect! Mecha defects weren’t the issue; hidden dangers were! In the life-and-death struggles on the battlefield, a single hidden danger could cost a soldier his life! It seemed that excluding Zhang Yuan from the core design due to uncertainties about his identity was a mistake! If this hidden danger was real, it would prove Fatty’s mechanical talent and his loyalty to the Empire. If he were a Federation spy, how could he have pointed out this hidden danger so directly? If this Mecha went into mass production and was equipped, the Mythical Army’s losses would make the Leray Federation laugh with glee!

Seeing Reinhardt’s somber expression, George’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. Since Liebgoet and Stephen took charge of the Military Department, George felt closer to Reinhardt. This steadfast Imperial Stabilizer had been very displeased with Liebgoet’s deployment of the Mythical Army and the non-negotiable military commands, and Stephen’s compliance with Liebgoet’s orders irritated Reinhardt even more. This pure Vibo nationalist, while not so extreme, absolutely did not want to see an outsider command the Gazalin Empire, especially not meddling with the Mythical Army.

This time, George should have arranged another channel to inform Reinhardt to avoid suspicion. However, seeing the current situation, openly presenting his relationship with Zhang Yuan seemed more appropriate. With Reinhardt’s well-informed eyes and ears, there was no way he did not know George was wooing Zhang Yuan. Informing Reinhardt personally was a signal for cooperation. Reinhardt was very much like his father, with their clear-cut way of handling matters and personalities. As his mentor Philip analyzed, rather than playing tricks in front of such a clever and sensitive person, it was better to be transparent. An overt strategy could sometimes be more effective than a covert one!

The temporary supervisor of the core research lab and the current head of the mechanical research department at Tanville Military Academy, Dr. Adrian, soon arrived before Reinhardt. Reinhardt placed a document before him and smiled, ”Doctor, I invited you here to consult you on a matter.” He pointed at the design sketches with his finger: ”The external lab has found a design flaw. I would like to hear your opinion. Does the current design have such a flaw?” Reinhardt did not specify what the flaw was. He merely smiled, looking at the somewhat bald middle-aged man before him with an indifferent gaze.
