Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 228: Volume Four Chapter 18 This Treacherous Kingdom

Andre looked at the Fatty in front of him who immediately surrendered unconditionally, and felt a mix of emotions indescribable. This Fatty was truly too obnoxious, just looking at him made one want to give him a good beating.

As soon as Fatty finished speaking, he began to casually greet each person next to him, completely ignoring the disdainful and stunned looks of the other prisoners. He raised his chubby fist and greeted everyone warmly, patting this one, hugging that one, his face full of smiles, as if he was already one of them and it was a passionate reunion after a long time apart.

This shameless scoundrel truly opened the eyes of everyone present. Watching this disgusting Fatty continuously introduce himself with excitement, forcibly shaking hands with others, or forcibly hugging, even puckering up to try and kiss someone, it made everyone’s eyelids twitch. This Fatty, how did he grow up? That such a scoundrel could live to this age without being beaten to death is a miracle.

Andre’s forehead bulged with two veins, and he called out to the Fatty who was busy, ”Zhang Yuan, since you’ve made your choice, you should understand our rules. Let Tou’er explain it to you. I don’t want you causing trouble in the future!”

Fatty shivered all over when he heard this, then promptly and submissively agreed, hurrying over to Tou’er. Andre gave his confidants a look and went back to sunbathing on the bench. The awkward atmosphere created by the Fatty finally eased. However, everyone still felt uneasy. Watching the disgusting Fatty on the side, it was hard to connect him with the person who had injured more than ten of their comrades yesterday. In this world, there truly exists a kind of person whose face alone can make others feel utter contempt.

The winter sun was always pleasant. In the prison, being able to sunbathe for two hours after work, chatting and napping, was truly a delightful thing. Generally, no one wanted to go back to the cold cells until the signal to end outdoor time sounded.

However, half an hour later, when Andre and his group saw the Fatty not far away arrogantly bossing other prisoners around to give up their seats for him, they began to feel the sunlight become glaring. Andre was the first to get up and walk towards the prison building. He didn’t know if letting this Fatty join them was a serious mistake, he only knew that he couldn’t bear to lose face like this.

Bruce casually tossed a report onto the table, feeling a mix of emotions indescribable.

This report from the prison wasn’t very detailed, but it still highlighted Fatty’s behavior and experiences in prison. From any perspective, this person whom he had sent to prison was a disgusting scoundrel.

However, such a scoundrel had actually taken Ann Lei away from him. This was something Bruce could never understand. The gentle, elegant, and beautiful Ann Lei, how could she fall for someone like this Fatty who wasn’t even fit to be in the sewers! Even if there had always been legends of beauty and the beast, who ever heard of beauty and the cockroach?

Yet, Ann Lei still avoided him. She seemed unwilling to accept the fact that Zhang Yuan was a spy. Even his own sister helped her avoid him. The mastermind behind all of this was George, who kept sending people to reinvestigate Zhang Yuan’s espionage case! Before everything settled, Ann Lei always held a glimmer of hope that this filthy Fatty could be exonerated.

George, the Crown Prince who made Bruce understand from the age of six that the throne was not his, and made him start learning humility at the age of ten. He was like a giant canopy that laid a shadow over Bruce’s head. There was no sunshine, only an everlasting shadow. In the Morton family, there was no familial affection. His father James and uncle Sidney were living examples of this!

Abnosk Prison, the prison that held Royal Family members, had appeared in every nightmare since Bruce was ten. The fear, confusion, sorrow, helplessness, and despair he knew all had one representation, and it was the image of Abnosk Prison.

Silently accumulating power for over ten years was still not enough to compete with the title of Crown Prince. Fortunately, he had a stubborn and impulsive younger brother who always stood in opposition to George, allowing him to live over ten years of enduring and leisurely life. But now, no one could remain silent anymore. As a Prince, even unable to win the woman he loved, such a Prince was too cowardly!

No one knew what Gazalin Empire’s future held. Nearly everyone knew, relying solely on the Empire’s power, it was impossible to stop the Leray Federation’s invasion. Even Liebgoet could only buy time for the Gazalin Empire. The time gained was not to strive for peace, but to drag this war into an impending interstellar war!

This had been the Empire’s tacit agreement. Stephen and Liebgoet were working toward this direction. However, James seemed unable to accept this outcome. Signs indicated that James was planning to make Gazalin Empire the fuse for an interstellar war. He could not tolerate the victory and humiliation of Leray Federation led by Russell over Gazalin before the interstellar war began, not even for a few years or days! The Jump Point between the Galileo Star System and the Little Pyrenees Star System was James’s bottom line, and for Stephen, that bottom line was Lucerne Planet.
