Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 241: 4 Volumes, Chapter 26, Betrayal (6)_2

”What should we do? I also don’t know what to do!” Fatty said in a very aggrieved manner, sighing, ”Sigh, at worst, I’ll just get hit a few more times. Anyway, once I fall asleep, I won’t know anything!”

Doctor and Tou’er, along with others, exchanged glances in concern as they looked at Fatty, then withdrew their heads.

Fatty’s words reminded them of the past situation. Surrounded and beaten by more than ten people, Fatty didn’t seem to have any damage, much like an indestructible rubber man. Except for eating a bit more, he seemed completely fine. Just based on his ability to take a beating, worrying about him was totally unnecessary!

”I’m just afraid someone will see my handsome face and hit me! If my face is ruined, how will I make a living in the future?”

Listening to Fatty’s self-talk, everyone felt a chill down their spines. They’ve seen shameless people before, but to encounter a despicable Fatty of such shamelessness is truly rare. Even Doctor felt that if he could beat up this self-pitying Fatty holding his face, he wouldn’t hesitate to slap this bastard hard!

The ground battle on Lucerne Planet, with Russell and Bernadotte’s return and Liebgoet personally directing operations at the Lucerne front, had already become white-hot.

The main forces of both sides had begun a frontal collision on the Lavos Plain.

The Federation played steadily, relying on sufficient logistical support as the biggest bargaining chip for victory. The intention was to transform logistic strength into battlefield advantage in a war of attrition, turn that advantage into a decisive victory, and finally crush the Gazalin Empire.

The Gazalin Empire released all the strength it preserved in the early stages of the war, with nearly thirty armored divisions under Liebgoet’s command sweeping the field. Fighting on someone else’s territory, they didn’t care about the loss of a single city or land. As long as their land-based air force and electronic attacks could maintain balance with the Federation, this massive armored force wasn’t something the Federation could easily take down.

Liebgoet’s command art and tactical thinking were also fully displayed in recent battles. This great general from the Naga Federation was meticulous and flawless, highly adept at creating local advantages through the quick response of small units and leapfrogging airdrops in the chaotic and complex battlefield. Unlike Russell, who excelled at commanding large troop operations and setting traps, Liebgoet’s commands were detailed down to the movement of every regiment!

Intelligence intercepted showed that Russell and Bernadotte couldn’t understand why this old man, nearly twenty years their senior, had so much energy. Dozens of divisions, two to three hundred regiments of real-time operational guidance, plus the overall deployment of Lucerne Planet and other complex affairs, Liebgoet managed to handle it all by himself!

If anyone could be equivalent to an entire Combat Department, it would be none other than Liebgoet!

Since the war between the two countries began, Russell had never felt this much pressure, regardless of which side of the conflict. Standing opposite Liebgoet was like facing a precisely operating machine, an extremely accurate computer, capable to let every regiment avoid traps meticulously designed by Russell and still have the capacity to gain advantages through small-scale battles.

Confronting such a military strategist undoubtedly left people feeling at a loss, especially when this opponent showed increasing signs of being in a defensive stance, delaying time without fear of attrition and not being in a hurry, Russell felt powerless. A month was indeed too short for such a large-scale campaign. If no surprises occurred, the end would be a stalemate where neither side could achieve a decisive victory!

When Russell was at a loss with Liebgoet’s watertight defensive system, December 28, 2061, arrived. On this day, the Western Alliance nations, led by the Binart Empire, once again launched a challenge at the Human Supreme Joint Council, accusing the Leray Federation President and the Supreme Command Department of disregarding public sentiment and being reckless, turning the war in the Galileo Star System into a disaster, with hundreds of thousands of residents in East Valley City dying in the war, and millions displaced. They demanded that the Leray Federation immediately stop military actions, or the Western Alliance would severely punish such irresponsible behavior towards peace.

On the same day, the Gazalin Army, composed of a total of six armored divisions and ten fully mechanized infantry divisions, was suddenly transported by Gazalin Empire’s transport forces from Mezrich to the eastern battlefield of Lucerne, along the Amayo Mountain and East Valley City line, cutting off the supply lines and retreat routes of three Federation Army Groups. Simultaneously, the Gazalin troops based on six large and small cities on the Lavos Plain swiftly launched a strategic counterattack, aggressively clashing with the Federation Army. Additionally, a strike arrow composed of four elite armored divisions suddenly pierced the junction between the Federation’s First Army Group and the Second Army Group.

In space, the three Imperial Fleets, long prepared and replenished with ships and crews, broke convention by taking the initiative, pushing directly towards the Jump Point Area between the Galileo Star System and the Newton Star System.

Even more incredible, almost simultaneously, the 4th Mixed Fleet, leading a massive supply fleet making a detour through the Public Star System for unconventional supply, was locked in a stalemate by a fleet at a secret jump point within the Public Star System. No engagement occurred because it wasn’t a Gazalin Empire fleet but rather a powerful fleet from another premeditated neighbor, the Desic Empire. The communication message sent to the 4th Mixed Fleet was: ”Warning, in front of you is the exercise fleet of the Desic Empire, please immediately leave this Star System to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and conflicts.”

At this moment, the wind forebodes an impending storm!

On the electronic map, rapid transformations unfolded under Liebgoet’s command, and every terrain feature of Lucerne was intermittently appearing before him. The deployment of forces and battle conditions in these combat areas were swiftly imprinting into his mind, and one order after another came from his mouth, meticulous and comprehensive.

Stephen, who had just arrived in Lucerne, stood respectfully by, admiring his teacher’s miraculous command methods.

Regarding the fastest and most precise on-the-spot command, Liebgoet was undoubtedly second to none in this world! With his exclusive map-changing technique and his computer-like precise brain, coupled with his rich command experience, his ability to conduct on-the-spot command over sixty regional operations left any renowned general unable to approach!

For regional battle command, Liebgoet was absolutely the best! And in large-scale operations, involving less than a hundred simultaneous battles. Even if Russell knew Liebgoet’s secrets, he would never know where Liebgoet would point his finger next! As long as Liebgoet made no mistakes, in this war, Russell could not win, even if he did not lose!

However, human beings all make mistakes, and Liebgoet is no exception.

”Commanding unfamiliar troops, operational guidance will be vastly different. It’s not just about the effectiveness of command, but even the orders must use basic commands. If the troops below could familiarize themselves with my style of command and understand my intentions, I wouldn’t need to replace defense with offense and coordinate with your father’s political offensive to delay time!”

Liebgoet’s fingers casually moved around the electronic map, his tone carrying a hint of fatigue he couldn’t completely hide: ”Your father’s favorite show is about to start, this time, once you lead your troops back, there will be no retreat, have you thought it through?”

”I’ve long had no retreat, teacher.” Stephen lowered his head, then raised it high!
