Chapter 214: Volume 4 Chapter 9 Sleepwalking_3

Fatty still had that loser look, his eyes nervously watching Rex, who was gobbling down food. He quietly moved his body and sneakily grabbed the leftover meal at the door, shoving it into his mouth. Although his actions were quick, they couldn’t escape Rex’s eyes. The other four prisoners widened their mouths in disbelief. Was Fatty missing a screw? Rex was in a foul mood, and Fatty dared to take food without permission! Especially knowing he hadn’t even been to trial yet!

Seeing Fatty, who had just been beaten, still daring to take food, Rex was fuming with rage. He coldly put down his tray, stood up, and slowly walked to Fatty, staring seriously at Fatty who kept his head down, shoveling food non-stop into his mouth. For a moment, Rex couldn’t tell if Fatty was genuinely stupid or just pretending. Watching Fatty eat with delight, Rex’s facial muscles twitched uncontrollably. He couldn’t hold back any longer and kicked the tray over in one swift motion. Fatty, caught off guard, found the tray overturned on his face, food and soup splattering all over his head!

Seeing Fatty in a state of confusion with the tray on his face, Rex grew even more violent. He stomped on the tray ferociously, grinding Fatty’s head into the ground, and snarled, ”Fuck you, eating without my permission? I’ll make you eat your fill today!” As he spoke, he stomped hard, treating Fatty’s head like a football, kicking it back and forth.

No one knew how long had passed. When Rex finally finished venting and withdrew his foot, he found that Fatty on the ground had already fallen silent.

Rex was stunned and exchanged confused looks with the other prisoners. Was Fatty really that fragile? Dead?

Just then, everyone suddenly heard snoring. Rex, both shocked and enraged, kicked off the tray still on Fatty’s head, only to find Fatty stupidly asleep, breathing steadily, with his eyes closed.

Everyone in the cell seemed struck by lightning, standing dumb as a post in complete silence...asleep...asleep?

Rex was extremely furious! He had seen a lot of fools in prison, people who pretended to be mad or stupid to avoid trouble and live safely, but all had gone through extreme torment to succeed! Some even genuinely broke down and turned into madmen and fools. But he had never seen such a natural fool. Saying he’s stupid, he knew how to plead for mercy; saying he’s not stupid, it was as if he was missing a screw, couldn’t figure out the situation, and not only did he not cry out, but he fell asleep after being beaten.

Rex looked at Fatty and sneered coldly, ”Playing tricks with me, huh? Let’s see how long you can keep it up! If I don’t peel three layers of your skin today, I’ll take my own life!” He grabbed the sleeping Fatty off the ground, slapped him hard across the face, sneering, ”Sleep! Let’s see if you can keep sleeping!”

Fatty opened his eyes with a dazed look, like sleepwalking, muttering a string of incoherent words, showing no reaction to Rex.

Rex nearly went insane, slapping Fatty again, but Fatty continued to stay dimly, now muttering more dreamlike sentences. Like a rubber man, no matter how much he was tossed around, he showed no signs of feeling anything. Rex’s pride was slipping; beating Fatty now felt nothing like the satisfaction from his previous pig-like screams.

”Damn it! I can’t believe I can’t wake you up!” Rex clenched his massive fist, aiming for a hard punch to Fatty’s pale, chubby face! Confronting such a person felt both humiliating and infuriating. With a sound gust of wind, Rex’s fist swung at Fatty’s face. The other prisoners in the cell couldn’t help but look away, knowing this punch would certainly make Fatty’s face bloom like a peach blossom.

”Bang!” with a dull thud... Rex fell to the ground... unconscious...

....Rex? The prisoners stared in awe at Fatty, still holding the straight punch stance, their jaws dropping to the floor.

Fatty stood there with a vacant look, mechanically walking to Rex’s side, then straddling him... ”Bang...””Bang-bang...””Bang-bang-bang...””Pitter-patter...”

It was too brutal; Rex had almost no chance to retaliate. He was punched and knocked out, then woken up again and again. Rex’s entire body and face, every visible part, was red and swollen from Fatty’s relentless beating. All the while, Fatty was mumbling random, incoherent sentences as if arguing with someone. The four prisoners standing by shivered uncontrollably, feeling as though they were in a nightmare. Fatty was like a demon from a horror movie.

As he continued to beat, Fatty’s movements grew slower, his head nodded, and finally, he collapsed to the ground. Almost simultaneously as he lay down, snoring began. He and Rex lay side by side, one unconscious, the other asleep, looking pitifully ridiculous.

The cell was deathly silent; the prisoners, having just finished breakfast, doubted if they were still dreaming. They looked at each other in shock. The Doctor, trembling, asked, ”Tou’er, what’s up with Fatty?” Tou’er was also at a loss, glancing anxiously at Rex, almost beaten into a pulp. Stammering, he said, ”Fat...Fatty seems...to be sleepwalking.” Another prisoner, nicknamed Little Lingtong, shuddered uncontrollably, ”I’ve heard... people don’t feel anything when they sleepwalk, have greater strength, and some even kill with a knife while sleepwalking.”

The Doctor groaned and lamented, ”What do we do now?” Tou’er, gathering himself, said, ”Fatty’s an idiot. Even if it was sleepwalking, he is dead meat for beating Rex. Rex is under Andre’s protection. For now, let’s get Rex on a bed. We’ll figure the rest out at work later.”

They quickly hoisted Rex onto a bed and then clambered back to their own. Fatty beating up Rex was a big deal. Gods fighting; mortals suffer. They each prayed silently, hoping Rex wouldn’t vent his anger on them. They decided to inform Andre of everything during work or break.

Time passed slowly in the silence, with Rex still unconscious. It would take days for him to recover. The four prisoners kept glancing at Rex and Fatty alternately, feeling like every day was dragging. Thinking about the rumors of murderous sleepwalking, they shivered.

While they were lost in thought, Fatty stretched and sat up. All four prisoners trembled as they retreated to the corners. They felt unspeakable fear towards the Fatty who had beaten Rex into a pulp. Fatty had behaved so abnormally since entering the cell. No one could tell if he was stupid or crazy.

Fatty puzzledly looked at himself, then turned to see Rex on the bed, suddenly screaming in terror, looking like a middle-aged woman being assaulted. Panicking, he asked, ”What... what happened to him?”

The four prisoners couldn’t find words to describe their feelings. The Fatty in front of them was infuriatingly bewildering. Beating someone this badly yet appearing so innocent, could he truly be sleepwalking?... Sleepwalking... The four of them simultaneously covered their faces, groaning internally. Living with someone who could sleepwalk and attack at any moment was more terrifying than anything! They couldn’t help but wonder when they might end up like Rex, beaten into a pulp.

Fatty looked at their eyes and, in disbelief, pointed to himself, ”Are you saying... it was me?” His face turned extremely terrified. Frantically, he shouted, ”It wasn’t me... you must have made a mistake. It wasn’t me!” He waved his hands wildly, shouting as if he couldn’t accept reality, ”My sleepwalking problem has long been cured. I stopped sleepwalking and killing in my dreams a long time ago!”

At those words, everyone broke down.

Almost done, just a few hundred pairs of real fur shoes left, clearing out fast, then leaving.
