Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The Four Nations soldiers charging forward stared blankly as a massive explosion of light burst before their eyes, casting savage shadows on their retinas.

Xiong Er coldly watched the two figures entangled in the outpost, even able to see the disbelief and astonishment in Hasegawa’s eyes, along with the indifference and disdain in He Jie’s.

The artillery’s power was immense, but the exceptional reaction abilities of a Tier Two Evolver could definitely allow them to escape the blast zone a moment before the artillery landed. As long as they weren’t killed on the spot, it was almost as if they hadn’t been hit at all.

So, his plan was simple: have the last Tier Two Chongying Evolver entangle He Jie, then open fire.

”This is all a necessary sacrifice.”

Xiong Er repeated inwardly.

Then he drew his pistol and roared, ”Charge!”

In just a few dozen seconds, the outpost transformed from a fortified structure into a hell on earth completely engulfed by explosions, flames, and thick smoke. The firelight dyed the dawn’s dim sky red, and billowing smoke spiraled upward to form a thick column of death connecting heaven and earth.

The air was filled with the pungent odor of gunpowder smoke, scorched smells, blood, and dust.

”We won!”

”We actually claimed victory!”

Excited Four Nations soldiers raised their rifles, letting out howls that were almost inhuman.

The boiling sounds spread across the battlefield; some people roared, others cried, and yet more filled with ambition surged forward to climb the outpost first, including Xiong Er!

Leading the troops to step onto Donghuang territory as victors was every Chongying person’s great desire, one that hadn’t been pursued for countless years.

Thinking about his name entering history, his image being printed in textbooks, being sung as a hero by generations of Chongying people, Xiong Er felt a heat in his chest, his whole body seemed to have lost dozens of pounds, almost about to float; it felt lighter and more exhilarating than when he advanced to Tier One!

When his feet stepped onto the pinnacle of the outpost ruins, closing his eyes and smelling the smoke, the feeling reached its peak!

”...Donghuang, and the Donghuang People!”

The adjutant’s terrified voice enraged Xiong Er, who harshly rebuked, ”Their main force was hit by me, what remains is just a group of the sick and weak!”

Then Xiong Er turned around with a victor’s stance.

He saw beyond the explosion range a thin man, seemingly about to be blown over by a gust of wind, holding no decent weapon, just a military shovel, standing over an unfinished trench.

Yet the man’s eyes appeared as if they were poisoned, filled with a fierce, unreserved hatred, like the crosshairs of a scope, tightly locked onto him, as if they had pierced through his flesh, nailing to his bones.

Behind him was a line of seven to eight-meter tall steel dragons, their fierce horns piercing the smoke and morning mist.

Hundreds, thousands of shadows emerged vaguely to the left and right of the train.

Some drove vehicles, tall and sturdy, some held the simplest homemade weapons in groups of threes and fours, some rode motorcycles, and some were simply alone.

The cold wind from the river scattered the smoke, chased away the mist, illuminating these figures gathered here after crossing He Shui.

They seemed travel-worn, yet also like they had been waiting for a long time.

The leading man opened his mouth, revealing bare gums and a little more than half a tongue, opening his mouth wide in a soundless, yet heart-wrenching roar.

Then he lifted the shovel in his hand and started running towards Xiong Er.

His speed increased faster and faster, his arms flailing madly at his sides, his entire focus narrowed until only Xiong Er remained!

And that silent roar was layered by the thousands behind him until it finally tore through the dawn.

”Kill————!!!”
