Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Mountain Goat looked into the other’s bloodshot eyes, his heart trembled, and he quickly said, ”It wasn’t me! I thought it was you who shouted it. Didn’t we agree not to stop firing until they were all killed?!”

Several officers gathered around, then quickly left with serious expressions.

In a short while, after investigations by officers at different levels, it was confirmed that no one had shouted to put down arms with a promise of not being killed; it was shouted in Donghuang language by a Chongying person.

But because of the investigation, a complete ceasefire had occurred. The remaining over two thousand members of the Pan-Asian Alliance were curled up on the ground, shivering and too scared to even lift their heads.

”How about collecting the weapons first?”

Mountain Goat’s voice was low, his expression subtly fierce.

It was impossible to spare them after surrender; at worst, they would trick them into surrendering, then kill them all once they let their guard down!

He Jie’s left eye slightly widened, looking fierce and deranged, ”I have a better idea...”

...

Ten minutes later, a large path appeared in the farmland beside the highway, paved with black round bricks, each as large as a bowl’s mouth and tightly arranged.

The train rumblingly entered the county town, but because of its massive body, it could only stop at the crossroads.

He Jie was followed by a pale-faced Chongying officer, who was muttering incoherently, ”You promised not to kill if we surrendered our weapons...”

He Jie, wrapping one arm around the other’s neck, pressed a cigarette butt into his face, smiling faintly at the sound of sizzling flesh and screams, ”You can eat whatever you want, but you can’t say just anything. Who told you we wouldn’t kill after you surrendered?”

Seeing He Jie’s murderous face, the Chongying translator immediately shriveled, shutting his mouth.

”Look, if it weren’t for you shouting ’surrender without killing,’ now they could have died as warriors, not as roadblocks. It’s all your fault.”

He Jie patted his shoulder, pointing toward the county town, ”Now, do you know what to say?”

The man trembled forward, crying out, ”武器を捨てろ,殺さない.” (Drop your weapons, we won’t kill.)

”Bang!”

Before the translator could shout the second sentence, he was shot by the remaining personnel in the town.

He Jie instantly leaped with excitement, shouting for a counterattack while carrying a heavy machine gun into the town, afraid of missing out on the kills if he moved too slowly.

”Immature.”

Zhong You’s face remained cold as they flooded the streets with water.

...

After twenty minutes of chaos, a steaming He Jie finally saw Lian Jin in the middle of the county town.

At this moment, the sunset was about to end at the horizon, and the two strong, shirtless men stared at each other wide-eyed.

He Jie had a good impression of this man whom he’d met a few times, whether it was his battle achievements or his bravely sustained injuries, all resonated with him.

”All cleared?”

Lian Jin asked hoarsely.

”Of course.”

Thinking of Su Huan sweeping through millions of lives in days just to capture one person, He Jie’s accomplishments seemed insignificant, a reflection of his superiors’ actions.

”How’s his injury?”

Pang Tu, holding a metal detector, scanned up and down Lian Jin’s body, the beeping never ending, ”There are over a hundred fragments and probes, need to be extracted and bandaged, it might take two days.”

He Jie and Lian Jin both frowned, speaking in unison.

”No way.”

Lian Jin spoke first, ”There’s no time, these thirty thousand are just the appetizer, the scattered ones that escaped aren’t important, but I fear a regular army has entered across the border, we must get ahead and stop them!”

”How many more can Donghuang Heavy Industry send?”

He Jie asked.

Lian Jin pointed to himself—clear as day.

He Jie sneered, ”Counting on us for support, huh? Had it not been for my timely arrival, you’d already be dead.”

Lian Jin didn’t care, ”It’s okay; my sister will make sure they are buried with me.”

”What if we don’t go?”

”Then I’ll go myself, Su Huan might not go, but you surely will.”

He Jie was annoyed by being seen through, ”Why are you so sure?”

”Because you’re a soldier, all of you are.”

Lian Jin pointed to nearby Pang Tu and several medics rushing over, all key members of the Armed Corps, veterans taken from the Steel Council.

”But you aren’t.”

”But I’m a Donghuang person.” Lian Jin gazed intently at He Jie, ”Not an inch of soil, not a river swayed without a fight.”

He Jie was silent, then heavily patted his shoulder, laughing, ”It’s really a pity you’re not a soldier. Why not hop on the train, join us with the conductor?”

Lian Jin shook his head like a rattle drum, ”No way, this is a family business, unless...”

”Unless what?”

”Unless Su Huan can marry my sister...”

Donghuang Heavy Industry merging with the Armed Train?

He Jie’s eyes gleamed. As a veteran of the train, he acknowledged Su Huan and considered the train his home. He wouldn’t miss an opportunity to see the train flourish, but as he was about to speak, he felt a chilly gaze on the back of his neck.

The corners of his mouth fell instantly, and he spoke coldly, ”Hurry with the surgery, another moment and I’ll be digging your grave.”

Pang Tu then pushed over a simple cart.

Lian Jin, momentarily confused by He Jie’s quick change, still reached out to stop them, ”I can hold on, but if the surgery can’t help much...”

”Wow, are we performing live human surgery?”

With playful laughter, a Long-handled Axe came crashing down towards Lian Jin’s head.

He Jie shouted in alarm, ”Stop her!”

The giant axe halted midair, the sticky scent of blood making Lian Jin’s scalp prickle. A crazy woman stood in front of him, wearing a black knitted sweater and splaying long legs, with a manic grin.

Water and fire wrapped around the axe handle simultaneously, Zhong You and Lin Jin both looked at the metal stand propping up the axe, and Xiaoba waved from nearby.

Mirror asked puzzlingly, ”We can’t kill this one?”

He Jie replied irritably, ”What’s the point of killing chickens all day long, get lost! All of you get out!”

The latter shrugged, let go of the axe, and walked away, leaving it suspended by the combined strength of three people.

Zhong You and Lin Jin each left, leaving the medics to take over.

Lian Jin’s mouth twitched; this woman wasn’t joking around at all.

”As you see, if it’s just Tier Two, to be honest, we don’t really need you.” He Jie reassured.

Lian Jin took a long breath, relieved that a top force was fully engaged, securing the border.

”Hold on for a few days, Donghuang Heavy Industry can free up, then the two of us will hit them hard!”

’Just hit them hard?’

He Jie hummed noncommittally.

Lian Jin shouted to Lin Jin farther away, ”Brother, lend me a fire, there’s a head on the ground, help me burn it.”

Lin Jin waved his hand without turning back—a nod of agreement.

Lian Jin then laid back on the bed assuredly.

He Jie looked at the sky, pulled out a knife, and walked over.

”Make it bright!”

A medic lit a flame, an orange-red blaze like a small lantern.

He Jie passed the knife through the fire, patted Lian Jin’s back, ”Relax.”

The latter slightly relaxed his muscles, and hundreds of tiny wounds opened like a baby’s small mouth, chilling to the viewer; some, due to the medication, already began healing, leaving only a shallow red scar.

He Jie’s expression was unruffled, his fingers pressing several times as the blade cut through a healing red line, following the muscle fibers, accurately slicing into the wound and prying out a one-centimeter long fragment.

As a weapon-manipulating Evolver, his fingers were more flexible than most and, crucially, extraordinarily steady. Be it a small knife or an axe, his precision wouldn’t deviate one bit.

After a while, fragments clinked as they dropped to the ground.

”Bring in two more steady hands, no Tiers below one allowed!”

He Jie called out.

A group of people gathered around, including Xiaoba in Power Armor squeezing in, raising his hand, eyes twinkling, asking, ”Am I qualified too?”

He Jie looked up, ”Eh?”

How could he have forgotten Master Eight!
