Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”By the way, I like rounding things off; one minute and forty seconds doesn’t sound good. Let’s round it down to one minute and thirty seconds.”

Su Huan said lightly, and as soon as this sentence left his mouth, the thousands gathered at the slave market—whether they were slaves in cages or the members of the Zongdog Gang being chased by the yellow weasels—froze in place. In the next instant, torrents of thunder and fire spewed from their eyes, mouths, and noses.

Standing there, they were burned into dry scorched corpses.

In just a blink of an eye, thousands of living people turned into charred remains, a horrifying scene that even the blood-accustomed City Lord couldn’t help but feel chilled to the bone.

A clear and gentle voice began to sound in his ear.

”Ten, nine, eight, seven...”

With the cautionary tale of those thousands of corpses, no one dared to dismiss Su Huan’s words as a mere threat.

The City Lord frantically urged his subordinates to search for a girl named Liang Shu, while Su Huan’s perception continually followed them to spy on hidden hideouts, preventing them from acting recklessly.

Additionally spreading his countdown voice throughout the city to pressure everyone.

Initially, only the Zongdog Gang searched like mad dogs. But when the first round of the countdown ended, and Su Huan randomly erased a tenth of the population confirmed not to be Liang Shu, watching live people turn into charred corpses as they ran, Dog City went insane.

Everyone was searching for a girl named Liang Shu.

Not that no one thought of leaving, but as soon as they reached the city border, they saw a visualized Thunder River.

Qin Tong finally understood why Su Huan had him leave early.

Soon, when the count reached round four, a specific message was brought to Su Huan.

A month ago, Liang Shu and her boyfriend tried to use special channels in Dog City to head to the Four Countries Peninsula to escape disaster, but were actually packaged and sold to Chongying people by slave traders!

This news surprised Su Huan a bit.

Turns out both were sold together.

But what puzzled him more was why the Chongying people needed so many slaves.

Luckily, there was a Chongying person right next to him.

Facing a sheet of dazzling thunder, Mr. Yamamoto had lost his initial arrogance and cooperated with the City Lord in explaining the situation.

The Chongying people had been buying up slaves in large quantities early on, initially only within the Four Countries Peninsula, but a few months ago began collaborating with Dog City for large-scale purchases. But no one knew where these slaves went, whether they lived or died, not even a Tier One Evolver like him.

Su Huan asked suspiciously, ”As far as I know, isn’t there a war ongoing at the border? How are you getting people through?”

Yamamoto nodded humbly, ”There are some channels, but they only allow a small number through.”

Su Huan chuckled lightly, ”Well, at least it didn’t delay my matters.”

Ten minutes later, a reinforced heavy-duty off-road truck set off toward the Four Countries border, carrying the severely injured City Lord, the Chongying people, the satiated yellow weasels, and Su Huan’s pair.

Leaving behind a city now only populated by slaves, and the complex expressions of Qin Tong.

...

Along the He Shui heading southeast for hundreds of kilometers, the Cangling mountains mark the border between Donghuang and the Four Nations.

The once quiet mountains have been covered by artillery fire, the ground constantly thundering, with the evolution beasts in the forest long hidden away, even the evolutionary plants are trying to uproot themselves to avoid this harsh battlefield.

This marks the second day of official warfare crossing over He Shui.

The Armed Train brigade and the elite soldiers of the Four Nations engaged in a frenzied slaughter in the Cangling mountains.

Large vehicles couldn’t get in, the only reliance was on artillery support from the rear and the combat quality of the squads.

In terms of the latter, the Armed Train had no advantage; despite the minimal impact on the Four Nations by the apocalypse, they maintained a substantial stock of armaments. Even though their national power is weak, they still remain as four countries with substantial armament.

The Armed Corps’s pride in their individual combat quality was leveled by the Pan-Asian Alliance’s numerous evolvers.

Through gathering information in combat, the train company gained new insights into the Four Nations.

Though the regime of the Four Nations was overturned, each retained its country, preserving pre-apocalypse systems. The Pan-Asian Alliance is an officially established organization of evolvers spanning the Four States, highly integrated with the regime, albeit nominally independent.

Predominantly led by the Chongying people, with Bong and White Elephant supporting, White Crow trailing due to weak national power and sparse population.

Though they lack Tier Three Evolvers, they boast a large population of Tier Two Evolvers, comparable to two or three top-level factions!

Pang Tu, temporarily promoted a rank and thrust out to independently lead a team, lay behind a hill, watching tanks and armored personnel carriers heading to the front line, barking passionately into the command channel.

”I just want to say one thing, without heavy artillery, what the hell am I supposed to use against tanks?!”

”Am I supposed to piss on them?”

”I just don’t understand, you’re having an infantry squad intercept tanks; what the hell do I stop them with? Do I whip it out and stick it in their barrel? Compare whose is bigger, mine or the tank’s, huh?! Damn, old dog, have you lost your mind?!”

”I just want to go home!”

”Don’t talk about getting back, I’m damn near penetrating the Cangling mountains; their 40mm barrels are practically in my face. My squad member asked, ’Captain, is my rocket okay?’ I said, what’s the damn use?!”

”Those are over two hundred tanks!”

Pang Tu spat eight ”damn it,” his anger palpable.

Nearby, the team members originally covering the sound were wary of being noticed below, while covering their mouths, eyebrows twitching madly, fearing they might laugh in such a serious situation.

Pang Tu’s intercom was met with silence.

After a moment, He Jie’s rugged voice came through, ”Feel better after yelling?”

Pang Tu took a couple of breaths, ”Better.”

”Then hold the line there properly, await my orders, and if you have to fight, use whatever means necessary, even stick that thing in the barrel if you have to, block those barrels for me.”

It wasn’t until he heard Pang Tu’s acknowledged receipt that He Jie expressionlessly cut off the communication.

Extinguishing the cigar at his lips, then pulling another from the nearby box to light, the silhouette of staff members in the cab mingled into the thick mist, the air purifier overhead drew vigorously at the smoke in the cab like a dragon’s breath.

The projection of Cangling mountains on the table seemed to float in the mist.

Nearly a hundred blue dots spread across the mountains, perched at the ridges and key positions, hinting at surrounding the watchtower at the Cangling mountains’ end.

But the opposing red dots were even more numerous, nearly filling the other side of the mountains, gathering into crimson patches, illuminating He Jie’s face in red glow.

Lian Jin, exuding formidable aura, strode over, his whole being wrapped in energy and blood, the shirtless physique overlaying old wounds with new ones.

Frowning, he said, ”I heard you two yelling on the command channel.”

”Though your corps is indeed elite, sending a Lieutenant squad with two Sergeant squads to stop a tank battalion, and unknown quantities of high-tier evolvers, isn’t this sending them to their deaths?”

He Jie looked up at him, eyes indifferent, ”Is it your first day on the battlefield?”

Lian Jin momentarily stifled, taking a cigar from the box to smoke as a bad habit learned from He Jie these days.

Exhaling a smoke ring, he clenched his teeth, ”I’m leading a charge once more.”

”You have other duties.”

He Jie said in a deep voice.

Lian Jin hesitated in his step.

In just one day yesterday, he’s already experienced He Jie’s terrifying command capabilities.

With 800 soldiers, they fought through the Cangling mountains amidst an opponent’s 100,000 troops, though the actual elite soldiers engaged in mountain combat were over 10,000, personally witnessing how difficult it was under such conditions.

All enlisting serious armies equipped with copious evolvers, even for a Tier Two expert like him, hits were hard to achieve, every sortie tangled by three or more Tier Two combatants.
