Armed Train in the Apocalypse

This scale of metal fortifications is enough to withstand a common zombie horde and Tier One Mutant Beasts, the organizational ability of this camp is impressive, at least it has sustained itself for a long time, only such a camp can provide sufficient information.

Having a local ”guide” lead the way, the efficiency is indeed high.

If we were to search aimlessly like before, who knows how much time would have been wasted.

The Copper Wall Camp is different from many survivor strongholds Su Huan encountered before, it is not exclusionary.

There are personnel guarding and checking at the camp entrance, but strangers are not refused entry.

Inside, there are even clearly designated areas for outsiders, such as a makeshift ”tavern” transformed from an old garage, and a small plaza where tasks can be taken and posted. Outside scavengers can use found resources to exchange for food, clean water, and even pay ”points” for a relatively safe night’s stay.

This is quite rare in the post-apocalypse.

Most survivor forces tend to be closed and self-preserving, like the ”Iron Wolf Corps,” whose semi-open nature is mainly aimed at acquiring external resources and intelligence, rather than genuinely accepting outsiders.

This mode of Copper Wall Camp requires the leader to have considerable confidence in their own strength and control.

For convenience, Su Huan dispersed the wolf pack, as for the yellow weasel, it was bagged and stuffed into the large bag on Liang Kuan’s back.

His technique isn’t good, easy to waste, it’s best to take it back to let Wan Xing handle it.

Although Tier Two materials are not as scarce as before, they are still hard currency in trading among top forces, naturally, they should not be wasted.

Only when you manage a household do you realize how expensive daily necessities are.

Just as Su Huan and Liang Kuan prepared to inquire for information, the roar of engines and urgent gunfire suddenly echoed from outside the camp.

A convoy of three modified off-road vehicles was seen crazily rushing towards the camp gate, kicking up smoke and dust behind, chased by a large horde of roaring zombies, the more troublesome part was the dozen swift-moving, hairless, dark-red muscled ”Blood Dogs” mixed among the zombie horde.

Although Blood Dogs are considered the weakest batch among Tier One, their ferocity and numbers make them the most annoying Evolution Beasts for survivors.

Copper Wall Camp instantly went into combat mode.

The alloy gate quickly closed, and amidst shouts, many weapon-bearing individuals appeared on the wall.

A figure agilely leaped onto the wall, it was a lean and muscular middle-aged man, with dark skin and sharp eyes. Held in his grip was not a common post-apocalyptic firearm but a staff of eyebrow-length, with a dark metallic luster.

”Brother Qin is here!” someone shouted from the wall.

The Qin leader was seen waving the staff, commandingly: ”Open a small side door, let the convoy in! Archers and spear throwers, cover the rear of the convoy! Gun squads, target the blood dogs! Mobilize everyone inside the camp as usual!”

The orders were clear, and the camp guards swiftly executed them.

The convoy barely squeezed through a gap in the side door that was just wide enough for one vehicle. The pursuing zombie horde and Blood Dogs were temporarily blocked outside, but they furiously crashed against the metal gate and walls, producing jarring scraping and banging sounds.

”Everyone capable of fighting, get on the wall! Temporary conscription!” Qin leader’s gaze swept below the wall, naturally landing on the newly arrived Su Huan and Liang Kuan.

His eyes paused slightly on the duo, they were too conspicuous, not only wearing clean clothes but also Liang Kuan’s mountain-like physique and exaggerated shield left no one daring to ignore them.

”Gentlemen, the situation is urgent, care to lend a hand? There will surely be rewards afterward.”

Liang Kuan looked at Su Huan.

Su Huan shrugged indifferently, a few Blood Dogs, an easy task.

The two ascended the wall.

Liang Kuan fought earnestly, Su Huan wandered leisurely.

In the eyes of others, he seemed to just casually appear at the wall to deal with the zombies occasionally climbing using hook claws, seemingly effortlessly kicking, crashing, or flicking them away, those ferocious zombies or Blood Dogs swiftly flew back even faster into the horde below or collapsed with a snapped neck.

His actions were smooth and natural, with a peculiar beauty, standing in stark contrast to the intense gunfire and shouting around.

Most guards just felt these two were skillful and lucky, but Leader Qin, who was constantly monitoring the battle, had his pupils slightly contracted.

He saw clearer, it was far from luck, rather a terrifying precision in timing, angle, and power control.

Those attacking beasts seemed to be delivering their weak spots right into their hands.

The battle ended half an hour later.

The zombie horde was mostly wiped out, and the remaining ones, having lost their target, gradually dispersed. The camp side, under the protection of the Copper Wall, lost over a dozen people, which was considered fortunate.

Facing such a large number of Tier One Blood Dogs, it would be common for an ordinary camp to be annihilated.

Leader Qin, still holding the copper staff dripping black blood, came over, first saying a few comforting and battlefield clearing words to the guards, then solemnly cupping his fists to Su Huan and Liang Kuan.

This rather classical gesture was glanced over twice by Su Huan, but he said nothing.

He’s met plenty of eccentric people.

”Thank you, gentlemen, for your help. I am Qin Tong, leader of Copper Wall Camp, I witnessed your performance just now, here are two thousand points as your reward.”

Qin Tong handed over a heavy small bag, Su Huan opened it to look, it was a kind of copper coin.

The edges were somewhat rough, with the word ”Copper” embossed on the front, and an ancient city wall design on the back.

Seeing this coin, Su Huan felt quite sentimental. In his previous life, many factions minted some homemade currency, numerous and in various forms, but they could only circulate within their controlled areas, useless once outside.

Not even the top powers would recognize others’ currency, only bullets and Pan-energy Crystals were hard currency.

Su Huan accepted it calmly, directly asking, ”I’m looking for someone, female, twenty-one, named Liang Shu, there’s a man with her, five years older, pointed chin...”

Shield-wielding Liang Kuan walked over, standing behind Su Huan, his eyes brightly fixed on Qin Tong.

Qin Tong carefully recalled, shook his head, ”I have no impression, they probably haven’t appeared in our camp.”

Qin Tong seemed to have thought of something, voice lowered somewhat, ”Though I don’t know how you tracked her here, if she’s alive, she’d either be at another camp or on the Dog City side...”

”Dog City?”

”A city to the east, it was a breeding farm before the apocalypse, later gathered a group doing human trafficking and slave trade, they have many branches outside, called the Hyena Gang.” Qin Tong’s eyes flashed with disgust, ”They often raid lone individuals, especially women and children.”

”What do they need so many people for?”

”That I don’t know, heard their business is big, even linked with the Four Countries Peninsula over there.”

Liang Kuan’s hand clenched instantly, knuckles turning white.

Su Huan squinted his eyes, didn’t expect things to involve the Four Nations.

”But I wouldn’t advise you to look for them, don’t know if you’re interested in staying at our Copper Wall Camp? I can offer you captain positions, plenty of food and clean water, and each of you can choose three women...”

Qin Tong shifted the topic in an attempt to recruit the duo.

Though he knew the odds were low, he had to try, at most wasting some breath, maybe they’d consider it?

At this moment, a hot-bodied woman in bold leather clothing walked over carrying a dog leg knife, staring directly at Su Huan, with undisguised interest.

”Hey handsome, you looked amazing on the wall just now, drink with me? My treat.”

Her voice was sweet, practically leaning in, ”It’s quiet at my place tonight.”

Su Huan glanced at the woman’s eyebrows, her looks were average, but due to evolution, her figure was quite tempting. Sadly, he was used to exquisite cuisine, his interest was not there, casually pinched her rear end, eliciting a playful protest, then tossed the money bag in his hand to her.

The woman was momentarily stunned, took the heavy bag, her smile grew even bigger, now with a bit of surprise.

”Wow, so generous? Thanks!”

She cast a flirtatious glance at Su Huan, twisted around, and left, not pestering further.

Seeing Su Huan carelessly toss two thousand points at that woman, Qin Tong knew the attempt to recruit had failed.
