Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Although the single carriage train is over five meters wide, the aisle is only a narrow seventy centimeters to maximize the usable space.

Tan Yunxi, holding a mechanical arm, blocked the entire path, her pretty eye corners turning up challengingly as she looked at the Mongoose.

Don’t be fooled by her timid and cautious demeanor at the Black Kite’s ball or on the usual train rides; that’s because she’s interacting with people of higher status than her and doesn’t dare to act out.

With the arrogance of a young lady, she usually doesn’t bother with ordinary people. But when facing the Mongoose, for some reason, she just finds them disagreeable. They’ve clashed a few times before without any significant gain, but now with the conductor backing her, she’s naturally going to flaunt a bit.

The Mongoose pouted; since being tormented by He Jie daily, she has long developed a composure that remains undisturbed by insults. Tan Yunxi’s mere attack was not even a tenth of He Jie’s scolding. If it weren’t for the tight space in the corridor, she would have ignored her.

With a casual grab, she caught Tan Yunxi’s neck that was trying to avoid her, along with the parts she held, lifting her up. In the entire Armed Corps, she was among the strongest Tier One Evolvers, not someone a young girl not yet Tier One like Tan Yunxi could resist.

Casually tossing her aside, the Mongoose sniffed her own hand, her clear golden eyes reflecting a hint of disdain, ”Smelly little puppy.”

Humiliated so severely, Tan Yunxi was immediately filled with grief and indignation, her cheeks flushing red as she pointed at the Mongoose and shouted, ”Who’s a dog?! You’re the dog! Do you know who I am? Dare to treat me like this?”

”Who are you?”

The Mongoose curiously grabbed Tan Yunxi, squeezing her up and down amid her screams, especially her notable assets, which were squeezed several times to ascertain it wasn’t some kind of disguise trick before sneering lightly, ”Little brat pretending to be spooky, I can beat up eight of you with one hand.”

Dangling upside down by her feet, Tan Yunxi was about to cry, clutching her chest.

Still, she refused to admit defeat, ”You’re dead, put me down now!”

The Mongoose’s golden eyes were filled with mischievous delight, like a cat that caught a mouse. How had she not realized before how entertaining this arrogant little puppy could be?

Shaking her slender ankle vigorously, ”Not letting go, not letting go, just not letting go unless you apologize to me and call me sister whenever you see me in the future.”

”You’re dreaming, I’m telling you you’re dead, do you know who my man is?”

”Oh? Who is it?”

The Mongoose was indifferent; there are only a few people on this train who could actually take her down.

Now, even He Jie without a gun couldn’t manage her.

”Is your man so potent? Do you want sister to assess his intensity?”

The playful Mongoose said gleefully, her round eyes becoming slightly wicked.

”How do you want to assess?”

A magnetic voice sounded by her ear. The Mongoose’s golden eyes instantly focused, her muscles tensing abruptly, but with rational restraint, she steadily stood in place, not springing up to the ceiling like before.

Seeing the handsome man silently approaching within five meters, the Mongoose released Tan Yunxi awkwardly, ”Conductor...”

Only then did she remember the scent on this puppy was the conductor’s.

Su Huan had just come down from the roof and witnessed this scene, finding it amusing, ”You two seem to be having a good time.”

Evolution encompasses changes at the genetic level, so an Evolver’s personality and habits inevitably undergo some modifications, like He Jie’s irritability, Lin Jin’s fiery nature, Zhong You’s gloominess, all related to their abilities.

He included, increasingly inclined to wield influence, much of his early cautiousness tossed away.

But most changes are subtle; he never expected ”Beastification” would affect personality and behavior so greatly.

Their little squabble was clear to him, devoid of any animosity, but it seemed to be a natural cat-dog rivalry.

Mongoose was somewhat embarrassed, while Tan Yunxi was so silent she seemed afraid, her ”cape” puffing up, cautiously inching to the side. Since the last incident, she had been avoiding Su Huan.

Were it not for the desire to show off in front of the Mongoose, she wouldn’t have brought up Su Huan.

”And you, next time you use someone else’s power, accept the punishment yourself.”

Su Huan tapped Tan Yunxi’s head, who nodded weakly.

”Go on with whatever you need to do.”

The conductor, suppressing the first cat-dog clash, headed to Yu Jing’s Mechanical Testing Laboratory, entering with Tan Yunxi.

There were more people here than he had anticipated. Yu Jing wasn’t playing tricks but discussing something with Dean Zhou; a large table was in the center with a projection of Power Armor, apparently an advancement of [Guardian]. Vice President Deng was also present, with a young man beside him, seemingly listening intently but mentally drifting elsewhere.

Yet he was the first to notice Su Huan entering.

His movement drew the attention of the others, who all looked toward the door.

Su Huan scrutinized the young man, ”This is the apprentice you mentioned wanting to take under your wing, right?”

Back when they first entered Zhijin, the train snagged a group of talents from the four major hands, and this young man was among them.

The young man now looked at him with a gaze of admiration, clearly more spirited than before.

Vice President Deng chuckled, ”Yes, Liu Yu, greet the conductor.”

Liu Yu was eager, excitedly wiping his hands on his clothes, intending to shake hands. Su Huan, sensing the Tier One energy intensity of the other, reached out affirmingly, ”Not bad.”
