Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 264, Jin Chenghan’s Extreme Misfortune

Translator: Silavin

Though Musashi Ten and Jin Chenghan were both killed by the Demon Knights, Lu Fan did not gain any points.

Lu Fan was confused at first, but then remembered Jin Chenghan’s Profession Characteristics. [Seemed like he must have previously summoned his Abyss Summons before coming here. That way, he would be able to revive and escape. As for Musashi Ten, it was likely the same. He would just die here and be revived elsewhere.]

This left Lu Fan somewhat disappointed. After all this back and forth, he had come up empty-handed without getting either of their points. He had essentially wasted time.

Although had killed Jin Chenghan once, this person’s Profession Characteristics were truly extraordinary. Trying to kill him permanently would not be possible at the moment.

In fact, finding a method to permanently kill Jin Chenghan in the National Trial Secret Realm was truly a headache-inducing problem.

After thinking it over, Lu Fan decided not to waste more energy on it. [If I can’t kill him now, so be it. I’ll just kill him whenever we meet. Even if he can revive, the pain is unavoidable.]

Lu Fan used the Fallen Corpse Magic Dragon to order the Demon Knights back to guard the Dark Castle, preventing any more raids.

Soon, he left the Dark Castle again to continue searching for Mission Scrolls.

…

Meanwhile, somewhere else in the National Trial…

A hand reached out from underground, raising dust.

Jin Chenghan and Musashi Ten pushed aside the soil covering them, emerging from underground in an extremely sorry state, covered in nauseating fluid.

After climbing out, they could see the shriveled head of an Abyss Entangler below ground, gradually losing its Life Essence.

They have both revived, and they sat on the ground, heavily panting.

Looking at his own hands while panting, Musashi Ten said in disbelief: “I… I actually died!?”

“This is truly amazing, Jin-san. Your Profession Characteristics are really extraordinary! When you said you could help me revive, I was skeptical, but now, I must believe it! With such a powerful Skill, aren’t you invincible?”

“Don’t get too excited…” Jin Chenghan had not yet recovered from the earlier shock, his eyes full of fear. “Although my Skill can let us revive, activating this Skill consumes Life Essence. In the outside world, Life Essence can still be collected by hunting Monsters and Humans, but Monsters in Secret Realms and Dungeon Instances don’t have Life Essence. Without being able to replenish Life Essence, the number of times we can die and revive is limited. Although I prepared and accumulated quite a bit of Life Essence before entering the National Trial, enough for us to handle various situations in the Secret Realm, but…”

At this point, Jin Chenghan seemed to recall everything that had just happened, his face full of helpless rage. “No matter how many chances we get, no matter how many times we can revive, it’s useless against him! You saw everything just now, didn’t you? Who knows what methods Lu Fan used! He had actually enslaved even a Boss like the Demon General!”

“With the Demon General there, we’re no match for him. This is the worst possible situation. Not only is he first on the ranking, but even if I use an Ultimate Mission Scroll and make him the target, we still can’t beat him. How can we possibly catch up to him in points like this?” At this, Jin Chenghan let out a long sigh.

Jin Chenghan’s words also left Musashi Ten silent.

After a long while, Jin Chenghan regained some composure and said through gritted teeth. “Now isn’t the time to lose heart… the National Trial isn’t over yet! I can’t give up like this!”

Musashi Ten asked, “Then, what do you plan to do?”

After thinking, Jin Chenghan said, “Let’s find another Dark Castle and see if it’s really as Lu Fan said: whether the Demon Army is really inside. Maybe that’s how he had farmed so many points. In that case, let’s try to farm as many points as possible. With my Abyss Symbiosis Skill, we definitely won’t die in the Secret Realm. So, we need not worry too much about our safety.”

“If we farm more points, when it’s time for the final tally, we can help our countries earn more resources.”

“Yes, that makes sense.” Musashi Ten agreed and was about to stand up, but as soon as he got to his feet, he fell back down.

He was startled, then asked in confusion. “Jin-san, why do I feel like I have no strength at all?”

Jin Chenghan glanced at him and explained “Having just been revived, your Attributes need time to recover. After about ten minutes, once your Attributes return to normal, everything will be fine.”

“Oh, I see, that’s a relief.” Musashi Ten nodded.

However, at that moment, a sudden whistling sound came through the air.

Before Jin Chenghan and Musashi Ten could react, a giant hammer wreathed in flames descended from above, smashing heavily into Musashi Ten’s head.

With his Four Attributes not yet recovered, how could Musashi Ten withstand such an attack? Before he even knew what was happening, his body shattered, dying again.

Seeing this, Jin Chenghan was first stunned, then upon seeing Musashi Ten’s attacker, he cursed his extreme bad luck. They had just revived only to run into another country’s representative.

Worse, it was not just any representative, but the Feather Country representative he had previous conflicts with!

Andrei lightly kicked the hammer head, and the giant hammer traced an arc back to his shoulder.

He held the hammer handle in one hand and the roasted meat (Giant Dragon Feed) Lu Fan had given him in the other, eating contentedly while his face showed pleasant surprise. “Well, well, well, what do we have here? What a lucky day! Without the time to eat, someone had delivered points right to my door.”

“Let me see who this is? Isn’t this Extremistis Country’s representative Jin Chenghan? What are you doing here? You want to play whack-a-mole with me?” Saying this, Andrei’s eyes narrowed, clearly remembering what had happened between them earlier. “If I remember correctly, didn’t we tell each other not to meet in the Secret Realm? What was supposed to happen if we did?”

The muscles in Jin Chenghan’s face twitched violently. If he had not just revived with his Attributes not yet fully recovered, he naturally would not fear Andrei. At worst, they would just fight it out. But now, he was as fragile as a newborn baby. Meeting Andrei was purely feeding him points.

How could he be this unlucky today? Being killed by Lu Fan was one thing, but after reviving, to run into Andrei of all people!?

Jin Chenghan was nearly driven mad. But before he could speak, he saw Andrei swing his war hammer toward him.

“If you want to play whack-a-mole, I’ll play with you.”

*Boom!*

A moment later, Andrei looked at the two broken corpses on the ground and said in confusion, “Strange, I killed both of them, why didn’t I get any points?”
