Chapter 648: Chapter 263: Two New Secret Techniques (One Big Chapter Combining Two)

Within Minster City.

The Reine Villa, the drawing room.

“By the way, Alyosha, how did you know that I was attacked today? Did the news spread that quickly?” Reine asked after taking the special healing potion.

“Lord Reine, actually, I came today to congratulate you, but just so happened to hear about your attack,” Alyosha, seeing no signs of injury on Reine, couldn’t help but relax and said with a smile.

“Congratulate me?” Reine looked puzzled.

“Eh? Yes, don’t you know?”

“Because of your recent outstanding performance, the Sword Bearers Branch of Minster has already submitted your application for a viscount title.”

Viscount?

Cleya was taken aback at the side!

How much time had passed, and Reine was about to be promoted from baron to viscount?

As an heir to nobility, she naturally knew the difficulty involved.

Most barons could not accumulate enough merits to be promoted to viscount in their lifetime, but how long had Reine taken? Five months? Three months? Or even shorter?

The Chief Maid Shadia standing beside Cleya had her eyes suddenly widen and covered her mouth with a hand.

Good heavens!

What on earth had Reine done in this half a year?

Previously, although young barons like Reine were rare, she had heard of them, but such a young viscount of the empire was unheard of!

And with a viscount title, wouldn’t it mean he was just one step away from becoming an earl!

Shadia couldn’t help but cast her eyes down and look at Cleya sitting on the large deer leather sofa, thinking to herself, ‘Miss, since you noticed Reine’s remarkable talent back then, why didn’t you have him sign a contract to become your follower!’

“Alyosha, how did you find out? I didn’t even know about this,” Reine mused, thinking that it was most likely because of the diamond-level mission he had just completed.

Hearing Reine’s words, Alyosha chuckled and said, “Lord Reine, have you forgotten what my father does?”

Reine instantly realized!

He really hadn’t thought of it for a moment, that Alyosha’s father, Javier, is the special envoy stationed in Mingster Province by the Imperial Ennoblement Examination Committee.

All promotions to baron and viscount within Mingster Province need to be reported to Javier.

Only after examination and verification, confirming that there are no issues, would Javier report to the Imperial Senate for the record, which means Javier is a necessary step in the promotion process.

No wonder Alyosha came to congratulate him.

Speaking of promotions, Reine suddenly remembered something else. On the last Sunday of the Grass Moon this year, he had to attend the official ennoblement ceremony of the Duke of Mingster, who would be ennobling on behalf of His Imperial Majesty.

“Thank you, Miss Alyosha.” Reine promptly expressed his gratitude for the girl’s concern and congratulations.

“You’re welcome. And Lord Reine, since you have esteemed guests today, I won’t disturb you any further. I’ll take my leave now.” Alyosha cast a glance at Cleya and, after curtsying to both, turned to leave.

…

Alyosha came in a hurry and left just as quickly, but what she brought was a compounded shock to mistress and maid Cleya!

Cleya smoothed the hair falling by her ear, steadied her mind, and looked at Reine with intense eyes, smilingly saying, “Congratulations, Viscount Renn.”

“Uh… Miss Cleya, please just call me Reine,” Reine couldn’t help but show a wry smile.

“Reine, I didn’t expect that just over half a year since I last saw you, you would have progressed so much. I should have signed a contract with you back then and made you my follower.”

“Having a viscount of the empire as a follower would indeed be quite a statement,” Cleya half-joked.

“Miss Cleya, if it weren’t for your initial guidance, I wouldn’t have been able to take the first step towards being Transcendent,” Reine replied with a smile.

At this moment, Cleya turned to Shadia and said, “I need to talk with Viscount Renn, Shadia, please ensure that no one disturbs us.”

“As you wish, Miss.” Shadia left the drawing room and closed the door.

Cleya’s expression grew solemn as she slowly began:

“Reine, now that you’ve joined the Sword Bearers, there are some things you must already understand.”

“My return from the Imperial City is because our family faces an unprecedented crisis.”

“My father, Count Habs, was critically injured in a covert attack by the high ranks of the Cult of the Black Flame, and we’ve lost many of our family elites. Moreover, our family’s allies and old friends mostly aren’t optimistic about the current situation and offer limited support.”

“If not for special departments like the Sword Bearers and Earthshakers dispatching squads, the situation in Meist County might even be worse.”

“As a family whose fief is in Meist, the Habus family has a special affection for Meist County and a responsibility to maintain the stability of the situation. Therefore, Reine, I would like to offer you the position of Guardian Knight for the Habus family.”

Having said this, Cleya paused, then stated the terms:

“Reine, once you agree to become the Guardian Knight of the Habus family, you will receive the maximum support of the resources collected by the Habus family, including Extraordinary Battle Technique, witchcraft, potions, funds, and networks.”

After a moment’s thought, Reine honestly replied:

“Miss Cleya, in fact, before I met you today, I had already taken on several missions related to the Cult of the Black Flame in Meist County City as a Sword Bearer. These included protecting your father—the Governor of Meist County City.”
