Chapter 641: Chapter 261 Ice Messenger (Combined Two-in-One Chapter)_2

“(Note: If the investigation yields additional findings or takes a shorter time than expected, the reward will increase.)”

….

“Protect the Governor of Meist County City (Gold level). Several attacks have occurred recently in Meist County City, and the local Governor, Count Habs, has been seriously injured. The Cult is growing bolder, continuously creating a panic within the city.”

“Task requirements: Protect Governor Count Habs of Meist County City within half a month; a team of three or more Sword Bearers is recommended. Task reward: 1 gold medal, 1000 Merit Points.”

“(Note: If multiple members of the Black Flame Cult are killed during protection, the reward will increase.)”

….

After looking through three tasks, Rein’s brow furrowed.

Although the refreshed tasks on the wisdom slate were all gold-level, the recommended number of participants listed in the task requirements generally required a full Sword Bearers team.

And he was just one person.

Furthermore, according to the rules, a Sword Bearers team could only take on one task at a time, but he wanted to take on all three tasks.

“Right, is Deputy Governor Olena available?” After some thought, Rein decided to find someone.

“She is, sir. Do you know Lady Olena?”

“Yes, tell her Rein is looking for her.”

“Very well, sir. I’ll go and notify her at once.” The young clerk quickly stood up and hurried towards the back offices of the hall.

Soon, a capable-looking young woman with a smiling face, Olena, emerged from the office.

“Lord Rein, would you like to come to my office to talk?” Olena, with her acute perception, seemed to understand that Rein needed her for something and suggested as soon as they met.

“Yes, thank you for your time.” Rein said with a smile as he stood up.

….

Inside the office.

Rein and Olena sat facing each other.

“Lady Olena, the gold-level tasks I wish to undertake all require a complete Sword Bearers team, yet I am currently on my own.”

“Oh? Lord Rein, are you planning to complete a gold-level task alone?” Olena’s eyes twinkled with surprise.

“That’s right.”

“Well… Lord Rein, I do not doubt your strength, but I am unable to change this rule.”

Olena’s words made Rein’s brow furrow.

He hadn’t expected that even Deputy Governor Olena couldn’t allow him to take on a team task by himself.

“However… Lord Rein, do you have any friends among the new batch of Sword Bearers?”

“If so, you might consider forming a team right away.”

“I have considered that, but both of my friends are currently on missions and are not in the Sword Bearers Branch.”

Olena smiled lightly and said, “Lord Rein, that won’t be a problem. As long as your friends don’t object afterward, I can help you establish a team immediately.”

Rein was briefly stunned as he understood Olena’s suggestion.

Taking on a team task alone was something even Olena couldn’t assist with.

However, a workaround would be to form a team and undertake the task in the team’s name. The specifics of how the team operated wouldn’t be scrutinized by the Sword Bearers Branch, and he could complete it alone.

Of course, the precondition was that the team members wouldn’t disclose the situation.

Vinica and Evelyn would naturally not object since they had both expressed a willingness to be on the same team as him in the past.

“I understand, then I’ll be troubling you, Lady Olena.”

“It’s no trouble at all, Lord Rein.”

Rein took the quill and paper handed to him by Olena and started to fill out the team registration information. However, when he came to the team name, he hesitated.

At that moment, Olena glanced at the paper and suggested with a smile,

“Lord Rein, ‘Meister’s Siege Hammer’ seems quite appropriate as your team name. It represents your origin and showcases your combat strength.”

Hmm?

Rein was somewhat speechless at the name…

Alright then!

Choosing a name was too difficult for him, so for now, he would just go with it.

“By the way, Lady Olena, I wish to take on three gold-level tasks related to the Black Flame Cult in Meister County.”

“This… Lord Rein, if you really intend to do so, I can give you special approval for a series of tasks. We do allow this for Sword Bearers with strong capabilities.” Olena thought for a while and came up with a solution.

“A series of tasks?”

“Yes, all three tasks are in the same location and related to the Black Flame Cult; thus, they can be considered a series of tasks.”

“Then, thank you, Lady Olena.”

“Sir Rein, you are too kind.”

….

After taking all three gold-level tasks,

Rein made his way to the exchange hall.

This time, he intended to rent the replica Imperial Scepter, similar to what Battista had done previously.

“Good day, sir, how may I assist you?”

“I would like to rent the replica Imperial Scepter,” Rein said as he handed over his gold badge to the clerk.

For Rein, the scepter was a type of hammer, which naturally suited him better than a sword.

“Certainly, sir,” the young clerk said with respect as she took the badge.

“Sir, renting the Imperial Scepter will require 1000 Merit Points. Additionally, if it is lost, you will be charged 10,000 Merit Points plus one gold medal as compensation, so please handle it with care,” the young clerk said crisply as she went about her business.

Hmm?

1000 Merit Points to use it once?

Rein finally understood why Battista had looked so displeased after using the replica Imperial Scepter.
