Chapter 647: Chapter 262: Outsourcing? (Two-in-One Long Chapter)_4

This made Cleya realize in an instant that even though the boy in front of her was still the same, the people and events around him had completely changed.

…

Meanwhile.

Asani, who rushed into the Yakesen Auction House’s third-floor study hurriedly wiped the sweat from his forehead and said in a rush, “Viscount, something terrible has happened. Lord Grant was killed on the spot by Rein.”

“What?” Viscount Fabien, who had been leisurely sipping Jorton red tea, suddenly trembled in his right hand, nearly dropping the teacup.

“Are you joking, Asani? Even if Lord Grant couldn’t defeat Rein, there’s no way he could have been killed on the spot by him!” Fabien immediately thought of the inconsistencies.

“It’s true! Although I don’t know why, Rein killed ‘Ice Messenger’ Lord Grant right on the street. Not only did I see it, but a crowd of people did too!”

“Moreover, Viscount, you would never guess! Rein killed Lord Grant with just three moves!” Asani recounted, still shaken.

“Three moves?” Viscount Fabien was stunned!

Damn it, this is getting more and more ridiculous!

But wait, what did Asani just say?

An attack on the street?

That arrogant Grant, actually attacking an Imperial Sword Bearer in the street!

What a fool!

Is his brain made of ice lumps?

Viscount Fabien, after his initial shock, also came to his senses immediately.

The trouble now was here, Grant’s death was one thing, but the problem is, whether it’s the Sword Bearers or the administrative office, a slight investigation could trace it back to them.

“Asani, contact headquarters immediately! Report this situation right away!”

“At once, Viscount.”

…..

Ten minutes later, there was a knock at the door!

“Knock, knock, knock!”

Upon opening the door, Viscount Fabien saw the district’s sheriff, Logan, looking seriously at him, with a capable young woman and a squad of guards by his side.

“Viscount Fabien, excuse the intrusion!”

“This is Ms. Melanie from the Imperial Sword Bearers Branch, and we are investigating an assault incident.”

“Just now, an Imperial Sword Bearer was attacked on the street. Although the attacker has been executed, eyewitnesses saw that the attacker had visited the Yakesen Auction House.”

Viscount Fabien didn’t expect the investigation to come so quickly!

As he looked at the attacker’s portrait shown by sheriff Logan, he fell silent and after a while, he said, “Mr. Morgan, Ms. Melanie, although we have hosted this wizard Grant, I truly don’t know why he would do such a thing.”

“I think, you might want to inquire at our headquarters…”

…

—————–

Meister, Wild Wolf Hills.

A secluded location.

A dark-robed monk, with black flames embroidered on the cuffs and collar, was reporting something to a middle-aged man seated in a large, luxurious chair.

“Bloodburner, we have just heard some recent news. Count Habs’s daughter, Cleya, seems to be returning to Meister from the Imperial City soon,” the dark-robed monk said.

“I think, if we can capture her alive, we might be able to use her to blackmail the Habs family.”

“Oh, when is she arriving?” the middle-aged man seemed quite interested in the news.

“She should arrive in the next couple of days. I have already arranged for people to keep an eye out both inside and outside the County Town.”

“Good, it’s a decent plan, but… we still need to further investigate the protective forces around her. We need to succeed in one try without startling them.”

“Hmm… never mind, I’ll take care of it personally,” the middle-aged man thought for a moment and then spoke.

“That old Hebbs has already been seriously injured by Lord Freeman. His daughter’s return must be intended to help the Habus family maintain control over Meister.”

“The foundational rule of the Dragan Empire is these manorial nobles; without their constraints and lacking the support of the Habus manor in Meister, it will soon be under our complete control.”

“Now that the Limb Attachment Cult, Sea God Sect, and Secret Snake Sect are engaging the Empire’s elite forces elsewhere, we must seize this opportunity…”
