Chapter 619: Chapter 255: Airship (Two in One Mega Chapter)_4

“Unfortunately, Slav and Mansfield couldn’t make it back safely, they sacrificed themselves to protect me…” Alyosha’s eyes reddened as she thought of the two familiar family knights who had died for her sake.

“It was the mission of the two knights, Sir!”

“Miss Alyosha, in a while, the military department will have an airship heading back to Mingster; you and Lord Rein can take the airship back. The noble has already given his notice.”

“An airship?” Rein expressed some surprise.

“Yes, Lord Rein, look, the airship is coming this way.” Lorenzo pointed at the northwestern sky.

Hm?

Rein followed the direction pointed by the other party.

There, in the distant sky, was a small gray dot shaped like an ellipse, moving towards them.

Rein squinted his eyes to take a better look.

With his excellent vision, he immediately noticed that the elliptical object was an airship similar to the Zeppelins of his previous life, with a large ellipsoidal gasbag on top and a large gondola resembling a ship below.

The airship, relying on several straight propellers at the stern, was moving towards them quickly, although it seemed slow.

At the same time, there was a nimble little brown dot flitting up and down on each side of the airship. Rein took a closer look and saw they were two Griffin Knights escorting the vessel.

“What do you think, Lord Rein?” Alyosha did not immediately agree to Lorenzo’s suggestion to return to Mingster via airship and instead turned to ask Rein.

“By the way, Lord Rein, I forgot to report to you that your family and Baroness Crawley have already been escorted by a team of elite cavalry to Mingster.”

“According to their speed, they should arrive in Mingster by noon the day after tomorrow,” Lorenzo quickly added, smacking his head.

“They have already been escorted away?” Rein nodded, feeling a bit surprised.

This gave him a new understanding of Javier’s efficiency in handling matters.

Noble carriages are much faster than the merchant convoys Rein had previously escorted because of their superior horses and lighter carriages.

If that was the case, then there was no need for him to return to the county town.

His own warhammer was damaged; if he encountered enemies now, he wouldn’t be able to exert his strongest combat power. It was better to return to Mingster first and get a new warhammer, Rein thought to himself.

“Yes, Lord Rein, there is panic in Meist County City now; Governor Count Habs has been seriously injured in the battle against the Black Flame Cult.”

“So, as soon as Captain Danuwen received the noble’s family, he decided to return to Mingster immediately,” Lorenzo added.

Hm?

Count Habs is injured?

It seems even Meist as a county town is not safe. Luckily, he had his family evacuated in time.

Rein listened to Lorenzo’s account while the airship approached, soon casting a huge shadow over much of the camp.

The airship was even larger than Rein had anticipated; the gondola was divided into three layers – upper, middle, and lower. The lower layer housed important goods or horses, the middle layer was for passengers, and the upper layer had a few rooms reserved for officers and above.

Javier had naturally arranged separate upper deck rooms for both Rein and Alyosha.

Since Vinica had a mission to attend to, she couldn’t leave for the time being.

After bidding her farewell, Rein boarded the airship with Alyosha.

The black horse was looked after by a dedicated person and placed in the lower gondola; Cookie followed Rein to the upper area, while Blood Feather naturally needed no arrangements and flew alongside the airship.

…

Upon boarding the airship, Rein did not immediately return to his room but chose to gaze down at the long coastline from the air. Alyosha, feeling somewhat weary, went back to her cabin to rest first.

Below at the coastline, the defensive lines of the Empire and the Sea Clan were as distinct as the azure sea and the golden land, with occasional skirmishes breaking out between the Empire and the Sea Clan.

However, witnessing this scene, Rein couldn’t help but wonder.

What exactly were the top forces of the Empire doing?

He couldn’t believe that the Dragan Empire, which had stood unshaken for over two thousand years, lacked high-level battle power, especially when even the Blood Curse Naga had a formidable warrior like the ‘Sea Tide Piercer.’

Obviously, there was a secret here.

This made Rein feel an urgent sense of alarm—a worry about the unknown.

If the situation continued to develop as it was…

Rein paused a while on the airship’s deck before heading back to his cabin.

Half-reclining on the soft bed, with Cookie on guard beside him, Rein finally relaxed.

At that moment, he touched his chest, where he had a letter of proof from Remiel on behalf of Rock Team. It mainly described how Rein had rescued the Rock Team and also managed to save an elite group from the Earthshakers.

One should know it was originally a mission belonging to the Rock Team.

According to Battista, this mission should at most be considered as assisted by the Rock Team.

According to the rules, Rein could receive most of the rewards for the Rock Team’s mission.

Simply put, perhaps after submitting the proof letter and inadvertently fulfilling the condition required for the loan—receiving at least one Gold Medal of Honor for rescuing Alyosha and incidentally saving the Empire’s elites.

He would then be eligible for a loan to get the Vaporization Agent, the first-tier fire-related witchcraft for defense, and the Metal Morphing Spell…
