Chapter 646: Chapter 262: Outsourcing? (Two-in-One Long Chapter)_3

Rein nodded.

“He must have been sent by the Yakesen Auction House,” Rein said.

Lady Creya looked at Rein in surprise, not expecting him to know the origin of the other party.

It seemed that the young man before her must have some entanglement with the Yakesen Auction House.

“Lady Creya, do you by chance know this Ice Mage?”

“Hmm, the other party’s name is Grant Savagii, and he holds the title of ‘Ice Messenger.ʼ”

“I’ve seen him once at the Imperial City Axon Auction House Headquarters,” Creya said.

Rein’s eyebrows raised at Creya’s words.

At first, he thought the Yakesen Auction House must have hired some top assassin from somewhere.

But he didn’t expect that the person was actually one of the Yakesen Auction House’s own experts.

Could it be that they did this because…

However, Rein swiftly thought of something and asked again:

“Lady Creya, during your time in the Imperial City, are you clear about the background of the Yakesen Auction House?”

Creya looked at Rein with admiration, not expecting the young man to so quickly grasp the crux of the issue.

“The major shareholder of the Yakesen Auction House is Duke Ferdinand, but… it’s said that the auction house has the support of the second prince of the Dragan Empire,” Creya revealed a secret.

Hmm?

The second prince of the empire?

“No wonder they act so arrogantly,” Rein murmured.

“Yes, but not entirely so.”

“Oh? Lady Creya, is there more to it?” Rein asked curiously.

“Yes, actually, including the ‘Ice Messenger’ Grant and some other experts, although they actually work for the Yakesen Auction House, on the surface, they belong to a separate independent mercenary group.”

“The Yakesen Auction House acquires their services by purchasing them.”

“By doing so, the auction house can avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble. Meanwhile, they can also do some… sensitive matters,” Creya explained slowly.

This kind of secret is usually only easily understood within the nobility-laden Imperial Royal Academy.

So that’s how it is.

Rein was taken aback!

Wasn’t this exactly the concept of outsourcing that he had often heard about in his previous life?

If there were issues, would the contractors be scapegoated?

Who said the Dragan Empire was backward?

This was quite advanced!

Seeing Rein’s expression turn somewhat sour, Creya couldn’t help but laugh and said, “Rein, it’s not as exaggerated as you think. With both witnesses and evidence against them, the Yakesen Auction House has to bleed a bit to settle this.”

“However, if you want to trouble the Yakesen Auction House through Grant, that would be more difficult.”

Rein nodded and said, “Hmm, thank you, Lady Creya, for clearing up my confusion.”

Since the Yakesen Auction House had such deep roots, he naturally would not choose to cling to the issue now.

Of course, this depended on how the Yakesen Auction House would deal with the aftermath. Otherwise…

Soon, Rein and the two ladies arrived at the villa.

The beautiful woman Jennifer and Jenny were not present; they had gone out to look at a noble residence that had just been put up for sale.

In the living room.

After some pleasantries, Creya slightly organized her thoughts; she planned to have a serious talk with Rein about the Meister(s) matter.

At that moment, hurried footsteps came from outside the door, and a young, crisp female voice said:

“Lord Rein, I heard you were attacked; are you hurt?”

The beautiful girl who suddenly appeared interrupted what Creya was about to say.

“Alyosha, why have you come?” Rein asked, slightly surprised, as he stood up.

Creya glanced at the doe-eyed girl who had suddenly appeared from the door, instantly realizing that the other party must be from nobility, and not just any nobility, given that she wore a tiered waistcoat with multiple patches of pure gold embroidery.

From the design, it seemed to be the latest model from the famous Imperial women’s clothing brand, Minelle, and was expensive.

Creya took another careful look at the beautiful girl before her, sensing a scholarly wisdom about her.

Alyosha, upon seeing Creya, appeared slightly startled, but quickly lifted the hem of her long coat gracefully and smiled as she performed a curtsey.

Then, she turned to take a wooden box from an attendant and handed it to Rein, saying:

“Lord Rein, this is a potent healing potion, personally crafted by my mentor—the Potion Master Kafrela from the Royal Alchemist Association.”

“This… Miss Alyosha, thank you for your concern,” he said.

Upon hearing Potion Master Kafrela’s name, a bolt of lightning flashed through Creya’s mind.

She remembered, the girl before her was that somewhat famous potion prodigy from the Royal Pharmacy Academy; even in the Imperial Royal Academy, her friends had mentioned her.

It was well-known that potion making is a discipline that requires cumulative effort, and across the entire empire, potion-making prodigies were actually even rarer than those on the knightly path.

Yes, she remembered now, Potion Master Kafrela from the Royal Alchemist Association had taken in a talented potion prodigy named Alyosha.

Creya had also heard that she was a marquis’s daughter and didn’t expect that her attitude toward Rein would be so intimate.

Creya felt somewhat uneasy for a moment.

How should she put it?

It was like a child who has a toy that they don’t really play with often and left aside for a long time. Suddenly one day, another child takes interest in that toy and starts to play with it enthusiastically.
