Chapter 623: Chapter 256 Exceeding Authority (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_4

Soon, she said to Rein:

“Sir, the rescue operation for the personnel trapped by the Royal Alchemist Association has been confirmed as complete, and the reward of two silver medals along with 1,500 Merit Points has been recorded in your emblem.”

“Alright,” Rein nodded.

He had known about the reward situation for a while.

Because before departing on the mission, Javier had candidly told him that this was the highest reward quota he could coordinate with the Mingster Sword Bearers Branch.

“Now, sir, you have a total of two silver and three bronze medals, as well as 14,341 Merit Points, of which 2,000 Merit Points are the rewards from these two missions,” she said.

The young female clerk had become somewhat immune to Rein’s presence, and this time her tongue didn’t tie upon seeing over ten thousand Merit Points.

Rein nodded.

The amount was correct.

He had indeed spent some Merit Points on purchasing potions and training in the high-level rapid stream room before.

Just as the clerk was about to give the silver emblem back to Rein, he waved his hand and said:

“Wait, there’s another mission. However, this mission was originally taken by the Rock Team, but now it has been completed jointly by me and the Rock Team. We have agreed on a 60-40 split of the rewards.”

“Here is a letter of certification from the Rock Team.”

In fact, Rein had originally wanted an even split, having simply helped out as a matter of convenience.

But Battista insisted on a 70-30 split, and it wasn’t until Remiel persuaded him that the stubborn Battista finally accepted the 60-40 ratio.

Of course, it was 60% for Rein and 40% for the Rock Team.

As long as there was certification from the initial mission team, the Sword Bearers Branch would recognize such actions; after all, it encouraged internal teams to help each other and minimize casualties.

Huh?

Upon hearing Rein’s words, the female clerk was momentarily startled.

She hadn’t misheard, had she?

The Rock Team?

Having worked in the mission hall for two and a half years, she, of course, knew of that very famous Sword Bearers team which had completed numerous arduous tasks.

When she took the letter of certification from Rein and checked the name of the mission, she was stunned:

“Investigate the disappearance of multiple elite squads of the empire (Gold-level). A Sea Clan altar has been discovered on a coastal island in Meister County. Recently, two elite squads from the empire’s military special division ‘Earthshakers’ have successively vanished while investigating, as well as…..”

“Mission requirement: Investigate and clarify the situation within three days. Mission reward: Three gold medals, 4,500 Merit Points.”

“(Note: If survivors are found and rescued during the investigation, the reward will increase.)”

“This… a base reward of three gold medals for an investigation mission!”

“I’m sorry, sir, but I do not have sufficient authority to handle this matter… We’ll need Deputy Minister Olena to personally process this for you. Please wait, I will report this immediately.”

“Alright,” Rein nodded.

So, the female clerk hurriedly ran back to the office of the deputy minister once again.

…

Meanwhile, a burly Sword Bearer standing in line behind Rein was virtually speechless, watching Rein barely move from the chair in front of him.

He had chosen this queue precisely because it was the least crowded.

Now, it turned out to be the slowest of them all.

Damn, it’s been fifteen minutes already.

What is this kid doing in front of him?

Why is it taking so long?

However, he had faintly overheard something just now.

Did that female clerk say she didn’t have enough authority?

The burly man looked at the clerk who had gone off again and then back at the young and unfamiliar Rein, his face clouded with doubt.

He had been a Sword Bearers’ team captain for two and a half years now and had never once heard a clerk mention lacking authority while processing his affairs.

…
