Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 644: Chapter 262: Outsourcing? (Two-in-One Long Chapter)

With Grant’s death, the immense Ice Shield condensed by his innate wizardry also began to disintegrate instantly!

Rein quickly withdrew the Hardened Essence Gold shortspear, but before pulling it out, he had already straightened and shortened the tip using the Metal Morphing Spell.

“Thud!”

The sound of something heavy hitting the ground rang out!

‘Ice Messenger’ Grant lay facing upward on the ground, with his eyes wide open, staring at the sky.

Rein looked calm as he scanned his surroundings.

Despite having killed someone in the street, not one person dared to meet his gaze.

On the contrary, the passersby, whether commoners or knights, all watched with rapidly twitching eyelids and parched tongues.

Because the person who was just killed was clearly a formal wizard, and anyone with working eyes could understand that he was also the rare Ice Mage.

But now, he lay on the ground with a look of unyielding death on his face.

This meant that this young man’s strength had to surpass that of the powerful Ice Mage, naturally instilling awe in everyone!

At the sight of Rein’s clean and efficient kill, Cleya’s beautiful eyes bulged in shocked astonishment!

After a long while, she muttered to herself, “If only our family had such a master…”

And Shadia, the Chief Maid who had been about to say that the person seemed to be Rein, now kept silent.

Because although he looked a lot like Rein, the stranger’s strength was too formidable, too unlike Rein.

…

Asani nearby was completely dumbfounded at this moment!

He swore he had never opened his eyes so wide in his life!

But the body of ‘Ice Messenger’ Grant was laid out not far in front of him, leaving Asani no choice but to accept the outcome.

In an instant, he thought of many things!

Such as, the death of this great person here would definitely bring trouble to their auction house, even though he was from the Imperial City.

In fact, when ‘Ice Messenger’ Grant had just arrived in Mingster, Viscount Fabien had subtly reminded him at the reception to act outside of town if he was not absolutely certain of success.

Grant responded with ‘Are you instructing me on how to do my job?’ at the Yakesen Auction House’s branch, leaving them red-faced.

Now, look at what had happened!

‘Ice Messenger’ Grant had a certain reputation in the Imperial City, and the Sword Bearers could easily bring the investigation to the doorstep of the Yakesen Auction House.

Alas! What a mess!

No, he had to report to Viscount Fabien immediately and ask the main office to cover things up quickly, like assigning an undercover Cult identity to Grant or something…

Without delay, Asani, quivering with fat, turned and hurried back even faster than when he had arrived.

…

At this moment, Rein hung the Hardened Essence Gold shortspear on his knight’s armguard, giving observers the impression that he had been carrying the shortspear all along.

Being able to tactically mislead the enemy, he could afford to cover up a bit.

In the recent battle, Rein did not use his best Hammer Skill nor the Advanced Secret Skill ‘Shattering Hammer’.

The whole fight was basically centered around Rein using Transformation Magic.

Especially at the beginning, Rein’s action of crushing the opponent’s ice blade with one hand stunned the other for a brief moment.

Though it was just for a moment, in a fight between masters, gaining that instant meant gaining the initiative!

Rein could feel that his opponent intended to press him down in combat, so he instinctively chose the opposite approach.

Indeed, when facing an Ice Mage, if a close-combat class opted for a defensive counterattack, it would essentially fall into the attacking rhythm of the opponent, and the subsequent powerful magic would come one after another.

Because Ice Magic is not Water Magic.

The characteristic low temperatures of Ice Magic make one’s movements stiff, and icy surfaces make life miserable for close-combat classes, completely disrupting combat rhythms and preventing them from performing even sixty percent of their capabilities.

Thus, at the start, when faced with the incoming ice blade, Rein immediately decided—’If you intend to make me defend, then I will attack, and furthermore, I will attack in a way that forces you to defend.’

Looking back now, it appears he achieved very good results.

Rein bent down and picked up the crystal wand by the other’s side, which was faintly emitting energy fluctuations, and it felt cool to the touch.

A very beautiful weapon, it should be quite valuable.

Because Rein dispatched Grant so quickly, the guards at the entrance of the Sword Bearers Branch just a few hundred meters away had only just realized a fight was taking place when it had already ended.

As the panicked crowd dispersed, the guards could see clearly that the one attacked was none other than Lord Rein, who had just left their gate moments earlier!

To think someone dared to attack a Sword Bearer right outside the Sword Bearers Branch! What audacity!

This immediately set the guards ablaze with shock and fury, and they ran over.

“Lord Rein!”

“Go, contact Lord Logan, the Public Security Officer of the administrative district, immediately!”

“Secure the scene!”

The guards promptly surrounded Rein and the scene, putting it under tight security.

Lord Rein?

In the carriage, Shadia’s eyes suddenly widened upon hearing the address. She quickly shook Cleya, who was lost in thought next to her, and said, “Miss! Miss! That’s Rein!”

“Hmm?” Cleya looked at Shadia with an expression one reserves for an idiot.

Someone capable of killing ‘Ice Messenger’ Grant had to be one of the absolute best among Great Knights, how could he possibly be Rein?

Moreover, the way the stranger handled the opening moves of the confrontation, the interplay of those three techniques, Cleya had just been repeatedly pondering them and felt they were highly beneficial to her.
