Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2949: Chapter 2950: Yagluo

After Angel finished speaking, he noticed the change in Reeves’s expression. There was once anticipation, but now only bewilderment remained.

Reeves lowered his head, pondering over something unknown to Angel, who remained silent, merely watching Reeves quietly.

The sound of a piano played by the Rabbit Doll reverberated within the room, a music filled with childlike innocence, infused with joy and vibrancy. But at this moment, probably only the Rabbit Girl could enjoy such happiness; everyone else was silent.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Reeves finally lifted his head with hesitant eyes fixed on Angel: ”Did he, did he betray?”

”Betrayal? I don’t think so.” Angel shook his head, speaking softly: ”You don’t need to overthink, I have no other implications; my words are meant to be taken literally.”

”He forgot many things, forgot the Vansel family. He even forgot his true name... Yagluo.”

——’Mirror of the Ebbing Tide’ Yagluo.

Yagluo, a Wizard who found his path and successfully embarked upon the True Knowledge road. He was once the prospective head of the Vansel family, Reeves’s elder, and a prestigious professor at Ashileier Academy.

Yes, not a student, but a professor.

At Ashileier Academy, Yagluo pioneered multiple disciplines and, as a space series Magic Rune Mage, he teamed up for the design and construction of overall magic patterns in the Sky Mechanical City, even redesigning the Transmission Hall based on his magic patterns.

Now, most Transcendent Cities in the Southern Domain have similar Transmission Halls, and all of these teleportation arrays contain magic patterns researched by Yagluo.

This attests to Yagluo’s terrifying talent in the space magic pattern realm.

Previously, Antonio even revealed that Yagluo had long been listed by Lord Muse as a prospective member of the Research and Development Institute, merely awaiting an internal meeting to become an official member.

Such a gifted Magic Rune Mage is undoubtedly a prodigy of the era.

Because of Yagluo’s presence, the previously secluded Vansel family glimpse into the lenses of various forces across Flourish Continent.

However, as the Vansel family thrived thanks to Yagluo, this prodigy abruptly disappeared.

And the disappearance happened without any sign.

Leaving no information behind nor informing anyone of his whereabouts, he was like a smudge on the scroll of history, blown away by an unknown wind from an unknown direction.

At that time, only the Vansel family was aware of Yagluo’s disappearance.

To continue the family’s development, they dared not announce Yagluo’s disappearance, opting to keep it under wraps, hoping for Yagluo’s re-emergence.

Yet, the Vansel family’s hopes were dashed as Yagluo never returned.

Nonetheless, Yagluo was a professor at the Ashileier Academy, a focal point for all eyes; not appearing for five or ten years might be closed-door cultivation, but not reappearing for decades seemed peculiar.

Eventually, the mystery of Yagluo’s disappearance drew significant attention.

The Vansel family refrained from responding initially, until Reeves advanced to an Official Wizard; only then did they formally disclose information about Yagluo.

However, the Vansel family did not use the word ”disappearance” and instead stated... Yagluo left the Southern Domain.

This explanation was acceptable to the public.

Because any prodigy has thought of leaving the isolated Southern Domain, in pursuit of the limits of truth. Some consider it without action, while others indeed act upon it.

Figures like ’Witch of Ulie’ Marisa, ’Bloody Queen’ Mary, and ’Twilight King’ Isabel, are among the talented Wizards who have left the Southern Domain in recent years.

With Yagluo’s space magic pattern reaching its peak in the Southern Domain, further breakthrough would need external exposure. His departure from the Southern Domain was comprehensible to the public.

Upon releasing the news of Yagluo leaving the Southern Domain, the Vansel family relieved a burden but a heavier one followed.

The Wizards’ Realm is quite merciless; no one pays attention before you rise. But after rising, any retreat could face attacks from jealous ones lurking in shadows.

The Vansel family fell into such burdens, enjoying peace with Yagluo present, but faced stasis once he vanished.

Luckily, Yagluo was well-liked, had widespread connections, typical of the Academy Faction, with no extreme enemies.

When the Vansel family was besieged, Yagluo’s former friends, including the Sky Mechanical City, aided them, helping the Vansel family overcome the initial crisis.

Nonetheless, the Vansel family couldn’t rely permanently on external forces, and had no room for retreat; any faltering would invite a comeback from those in shadows.

Therefore, the Vansel family opened two strategies to retain their presence in the Southern Domain.

One side striving to find Yagluo, while the other urged talented family members to cultivate rigorously, striving to advance to True Knowledge Wizards.

Only with Re-emergence as a True Knowledge Wizard would the coveters truly withdraw.

Thus, Reeves, the talented wizard, naturally became a key training focus for the family.

However, within a century since Yagluo’s disappearance, despite receiving focused training, Reeves still hadn’t found his True Knowledge path.

He hadn’t given up; smelling opportunity, he would continuously strive for it. It was not only for himself but for the family.

Unfortunately, Reeves’s luck wasn’t good; he stumbled during his pursuit of opportunities at Pamiji Plateau.

In Duling Garden, possessed by mist, eventually perishing due to energy exhaustion.

Were it not for Angel’s intervention, Reeves’s soul would have dissipated as well.

Yet because Angel saved Reeves, Angel learned the Vansel family’s secret information, including Yagluo’s disappearance mystery, and... the Mirror of the Ebbing Tide.

”Mirror of the Ebbing Tide” is not just Yagluo’s nickname; it’s also a legacy object of the Vansel family.

However, this legacy object disappeared along with Yagluo.

Angel derived information about the Mirror of the Ebbing Tide from Reeves, and saw its illusion. Consequently, when Angel saw Guild hold out the copper mirror given by Dudubi, he instantly recognized its origin.

This copper mirror was indeed the Mirror of the Ebbing Tide.

Of course, Angel couldn’t conclusively affirm this, but at the very least, externally, the copper mirror and the Mirror of the Ebbing Tide looked almost identical. Including the emblem on its reverse, which matched perfectly.

At that moment of seeing the copper mirror, Angel recalled the Vansel family tales, officially identifying Dudubi’s identity as Yagluo.

Summoning Reeves now was merely to reconfirm.

And this describes the entire matter’s context.

From Reeves’s strong reaction to the copper mirror, it seemingly confirms that this copper mirror was indeed the Mirror of the Ebbing Tide. Thus, Dudubi being Yagluo should be correct?

Moreover, the time Dudubi entered the Mirror Domain coincides with the time Yagluo disappeared.

Exactly a hundred years.

...

Angel also did not conceal from Reeves, telling him the current location, and sharing encounters with Dudubi.

To further confirm, Angel also simulated Dudubi’s appearance using illusion technique.

Watching Reeves’ constantly flickering eyes and emotions complex beyond comprehension, Angel completely confirmed.

Dudubi is Yagluo.

After Angel revealed everything, he asked, ”Do you have any thoughts now? Or, do you want to meet him?”

Reeves: ”He... can his memories really not be retrieved?”

Angel nodded: ”If it’s just ordinary memory loss, there is a way to recover memories. But his memories have been obliterated by the Sea of Void Mirror, they are no longer in his brain, so it’s impossible to retrieve them.”

Reeves: ”I understand...”

Angel: ”Do you have an answer now, how are you planning to proceed?”

”Can you let me think about it?” Reeves seemed still shocked by the sudden information from Angel, his thoughts still a bit chaotic.

Angel nodded: ”You can.”

Angel snapped his fingers, and a thin mist appeared around Reeves. This mist could temporarily block external noise, giving Reeves an absolutely quiet environment for thought. Meanwhile, this mist also had the effect of calming emotions, preventing Reeves from experiencing soul shock again, allowing him to really settle down and think about his next plans.

Reeves stood silently in the mist, sinking into long silence.

Only then did Laplace speak: ”Is this a good thing or a bad thing for him?”

Angel didn’t know how to answer either.

On the positive side, at least Yagluo is still alive. But on the negative side, Yagluo has completely lost his past memories, and the memories swallowed by the Sea of Void Mirror are not just memories, they also include the emotions within those memories.

That is to say, Yagluo currently holds no emotions for the Vansel family.

It is precisely this reason Yagluo so easily gave the ”Mirror of the Ebbing Tide” to Angel.

Angel pondered for a moment: ”There are both good and bad aspects, but which weighs more heavily, I’m not the one involved, I can’t give an answer.”

”What about you, do you think it’s a good or bad thing?”

Laplace said faintly: ”Even you humans can’t answer, how can I give an answer. However, although memories can’t come back, emotions can be cultivated again.”

Angel: ”That’s true, Dudubi can cultivate love with Duduli, it’s not impossible to cultivate emotions with his relatives again.”

”After all, without the ties of memory, there are still... the bonds of bloodline.”

While Angel and Laplace were chatting, Reeves, silent for several minutes, finally came out of the illusionary realm.

And the moment Reeves came out, he happened to hear Angel talking about ”the bonds of bloodline”, his originally hesitant expression slowly turned firm.

Angel looked at Reeves: ”Do you have an answer?”

Reeves nodded: ”I, can I request something from you, sir?”

Angel: ”You can say it first.” As for whether to agree or not, that depends on what Reeves is going to say.

Reeves gathered his courage: ”Can, can Grandma Yitai go see him?”

If it weren’t for meeting Reeves, Angel probably wouldn’t know who Grandma Yitai was.

She is a not very important, yet very special person.

She is said to be unimportant because she is only a third level apprentice, not famous in the Wizards’ Realm, with nothing particularly noteworthy.

But she is very special because Grandma Yitai is the only living blood relative of Yagluo, she is Yagluo’s elder sister.

At that time, when Reeves’ physical body was dying, he had left a last request: if Angel could leave Duling Garden and had the time, hope Angel could help him convey a message to two people. One is ”Black Baron” Adelaide; the other is Grandma Yitai of the Vansel family.

From this, it can be seen that although Grandma Yitai’s strength is not impressive, her status in the Vansel family is very high.

Reeves’ proposal, although unexpected for Angel, was also reasonable.

After all, Reeves is dead, he is a spiritual body, seeing Yagluo might not notably affect him. And Grandma Yitai is not dead, she is still Yagluo’s closest blood relative, relying on the bond of bloodline might rekindle Yagluo’s familial ties.

Seeing Angel remain silent for long, Reeves’ emotions also became increasingly depressed: ”I know, what I request is kind of over the line... I have nothing to offer as compensation. If you agree, when I meet Grandma Yitai, I will convince her to offer compensation...”

Angel interrupted: ”I’m not interested in the compensation you proposed.”

Reeves looked at Angel, his expression slowly changing from panic to sorrow: ”Yeah... You saved me, I owe you a favor, let alone making excessive requests at this time...”

Watching Reeves mutter continuously, his presence also slowly growing silent, Angel spoke again: ”This request isn’t considered excessive, I can promise you...”

”Really?” Reeves abruptly looked up, hopeful gaze fixed on Angel.

Angel: ”Agreeing is possible, but I have two conditions.”

Reeves was solemn: ”As long as I can do it, I agree to them.”

Reeves knew very well, there’s no free lunch in this world, in exchange for agreement, Angel proposing conditions was perfectly reasonable.

Angel: ”You’d better listen to my conditions first.”

”Firstly, my last visit to the City of Hot Gold was an accident, with my capabilities, going there again is not easy. So, I can only help relay a message, can’t directly take you or Grandma Yitai to see Dudubi.”

This means whether Dudubi sees Reeves and Grandma Yitai depends on Dudubi’s thoughts.

Moreover, if Dudubi really wants to meet, it’s likely Dudubi will leave the City of Hot Gold to find Angel, rather than Angel going there to find him.

Reeves: ”I agree.”

Angel: ”Secondly, I need you to help me with some matters. These matters will likely involve Black Baron Adelaide.”

This time Reeves didn’t immediately give an answer, but somewhat timidly asked: ”Will it harm Black Baron?”

Angel shook his head: ”No, I never planned to be opposed to Adelaide. I just have some ideas needing her assistance to implement.”

Reeves: ”Ah?”

Angel was straightforward: ”I need her to stir things up and guide public opinion at the tea party.”

Angel did not mention what specific matters.

Reeves thought about it carefully, stirring things up... at a tea party is all too normal. Guiding public opinion, likely to build momentum for Barbarian Cave?

Seems like there shouldn’t be any issues... Besides, Angel also stated he won’t be opposed to Black Baron.

Thinking of this, Reeves nodded: ”I, I can try.”
