Chapter 2937: Chapter 2938: Starlight and the Galaxy

Although the Rabbit Girl argued with reason, just a faint glance from Laplace made the Rabbit Girl raise the white flag.

Of course, this was a scene Angel imagined in his mind; he didn’t know the actual conversation and could only guess from the Rabbit Girl’s expressions.

In any case, the result was that the Rabbit Girl pouted, reluctantly walking to one side.

After ”convincing” the Rabbit Girl, Laplace turned to Angel: ”Shall we go?”

Angel didn’t hesitate and nodded: ”Let’s go.”

He didn’t know where Laplace was taking him, but he didn’t sense any malice from Laplace. Besides, if Laplace truly wanted to deal with him, Angel would have a hard time resisting, so there was no need to specifically ask for his opinion.

Laplace turned around and walked out first. When she reached the Rabbit Girl, she hummed softly. Although the Rabbit Girl hesitated reluctantly, she eventually lowered her head helplessly and took the lead as their guide.

They didn’t leave through the main entrance of the Reflection Space; instead, Laplace directly tore open a gap that revealed a corridor resembling a glass passage. Walking on this glass corridor, Angel could clearly see all the surrounding environment of the Reflection Space. Looking down, he could even see Big Treasure sitting outside alone, waiting.

Yet, Big Treasure didn’t notice the glass corridor at all, as if they were in two different dislocated spaces.

Perhaps noticing Angel looking towards Big Treasure, Laplace said softly, ”This is my Mirror Corridor; you can consider it as the Plane Corridor of the main world. While traveling here, others cannot see us.”

”So, Lady Laplace can directly enter the Reflection Space using the Mirror Corridor, which means this key isn’t actually necessary?” Angel said as he used Illusion Technique to simulate an earring. The earring was composed of four geometric silver pieces; a triangle formed the outer contour, with two rectangles overlapping inside it, and a circle within the rectangles rotating slowly.

This earring was precisely the entity key given to Angel by the Wise Sovereign, one of the essential keys to open the door to the Reflection Space.

Laplace glanced at the earring and said indifferently, ”I can come and go freely, but if the Wise Sovereign or anyone else wants to enter the Reflection Space, they must have a key.”

Angel glanced at the Rabbit Girl: ”Your Temporal Body should be able to enter and exit freely too, right?”

Angel had previously seen Luigi and other Temporal Bodies enter the Reflection Space firsthand.

Laplace didn’t deny it: ”Yes.”

Angel squinted his eyes: ”So, if I want to study Sweet Dreams in the future, could Lady Laplace or your Temporal Body take me to the Reflection Space?”

”You don’t need to keep adding the suffix ’Lady,’” Laplace paused and continued, ”You could, but since Sweet Dreams has been given to the Wise Sovereign by me, you’d better let him know if you want to go in.”

Angel smiled, ”Of course.”

During their conversation, the Mirror Corridor had already moved far from the outskirts of the Mirror Domain, and Big Treasure could no longer be seen. At this moment, when Angel looked down, what he saw were mirror shards that were constantly being born and extinguished, shining like stars in the night when they shattered.

Beneath these stars, Angel occasionally saw some mirrors covering the dome that weren’t as easily shattered; at least, the mirrors remained intact before the dome broke.

Within these slightly more resilient mirrors, Angel occasionally could see shadows moving, likely Mirror Creatures living inside.

According to Angel’s guess, these mirrors covering the dome should be the relatively stable areas within the Mirror Domain. Most of the Mirror Creatures probably lived in these Mirror Spaces.

Surrounded by countless birth and death of mirror shards around these Mirror Spaces... there is no denying that the survival environment here is harsher than Angel imagined.

While Angel was marveling, he suddenly heard a timid voice in his ear.

”Angel... Sir?”

Angel turned his head and, at some unknown time, the Rabbit Girl, who had been leading the way, had quietly retreated to his side, and it was the Rabbit Girl who was greeting him.

Angel instinctively looked at Laplace and found that Laplace was walking at the front, seemingly indifferent to the Rabbit Girl’s quiet retreat.

”Just call me Angel, or if you prefer, you can...” Angel suddenly stopped. He originally wanted to say, ’If you prefer, you could also call me Brother Pat,’ but then he remembered that he seemed much younger than the Rabbit Girl.

Even without considering age, Angel thought his mental state might not surpass that of the Rabbit Girl either.

The Rabbit Girl appeared young and had some seemingly naive preferences, but preferences do not equate to mental maturity. Many adults have hobbies like collecting dolls; does this mean their mental state is lacking? No, it doesn’t.

So, whether considering mental state or age, Angel had no right to ask her to call him brother.

”Or what?” the Rabbit Girl cocked her head in curiosity.

Angel coughed twice: ”Nothing, just call me Angel directly.”

Angel was very grateful he stopped himself in time, or it could have been awkward.

The Rabbit Girl didn’t think much about it and said softly, ”Then Angel, may I quietly ask you a question?”

Angel: Do not assume lowering your voice makes it quiet. If Laplace wants to listen in, do you think you can stop her?

Though Angel was complaining internally, at least one of his doubts was answered.

The Rabbit Girl rarely took the initiative to talk to him. Or more accurately, the Rabbit Girl’s character made her cautious with everyone, except... Luigi.

That’s precisely why Angel was surprised when the Rabbit Girl suddenly approached him.

Now that the Rabbit Girl gave the reason—it was to ask a question—it made sense.

Angel: ”Of course, though I might not be able to answer many questions.”

Angel readily agreed because he assumed the Rabbit Girl’s questions would likely stump him. Given her reluctance in leading the way earlier, he figured the questions might involve their destination, which Angel didn’t know, making it improbable for him to answer.

But what Angel didn’t expect was that the Rabbit Girl’s question wasn’t about their destination but rather about Angel himself.

The Rabbit Girl looked around, especially toward Laplace, and when she was sure Laplace wasn’t looking, she quietly leaned towards Angel’s ear and asked softly, ”Can you tell me how not to fear my own form?”

Angel: ”???”

Laplace, walking ahead, also paused for a moment: ”...”

The Rabbit Girl thought Angel didn’t understand her question, so she explained further: ”I noticed before that you’re different from others; you didn’t show any fear when facing the original form. Why aren’t you afraid at all? Even the Wise Sovereign bows to the original form in the Mirror Domain... Can you teach me? I promise to learn secretly and not to spread it.”

It first sounded like a threat, but listening further revealed the Rabbit Girl was genuinely inquiring why he could face Laplace so calmly... most likely a small bit of rebelliousness in this poor child due to Laplace’s previously assertive attitude.

In the Rabbit Girl’s view, outsiders couldn’t do it, not even the Wise Sovereign.

How does Angel manage it? If he can do it, then if she learns it herself, could she also not fear the original form?

Angel actually didn’t know how to answer; he couldn’t very well say, ”In the worst case, I’ll reveal my trump card.” As long as he wasn’t killed instantly, he had the entire Barbarian Cave as his backing.

While Angel hesitated over his response, Laplace’s voice transmitted into his ear: ”Don’t bother with the Temporal Body’s questions.”

After a pause, Laplace continued, ”Her question wasn’t instructed by me. It simply stems from the Temporal Body’s own thought process, perhaps related to my childhood curiosity.”

The implication is that the Rabbit Girl’s question has nothing to do with me, and you don’t need to answer.

Although that’s the case, seeing the expectant look in the Rabbit Girl’s eyes, Angel smiled: ”I don’t know how to answer either. How about this, I’ll tell you a story.”

The Rabbit Girl looked puzzled: ”A story?”

Angel nodded and began to seriously tell the story, which was called: The Newborn Calf, Unafraid of Challenges.

To sum it up, it’s just like the saying: the newborn calf is not afraid of the tiger.

After Angel finished, the Rabbit Girl still seemed to be in a half-understanding state, while Angel smiled and said: ”Of course, the most important thing is that Lady Laplace did not show her tusks at me. If she did, I could only resign myself.”

Rabbit Girl: ”Then why are you not afraid even knowing there are tusks?”

Angel: ”Maybe I’m just slow to react?”

Rabbit Girl looked skeptical: ”Are you lying to me?”

Angel shook his head: ”No, being slow to react means being muddled, and sometimes, living muddled is much more comfortable than living clear-headed.”

The Rabbit Girl still looked unbelieving, at this moment, Laplace spoke: ”This is no longer a whisper, but an open provocation towards me.”

The Rabbit Girl’s body trembled, she stood up straight and said timidly in a low voice: ”I, I... I was wrong.”

Laplace snorted coldly: ”If you know you’re wrong, then lead the way.”

The Rabbit Girl pouted, didn’t dare to refute, and went back to the front.

Laplace turned her head and gave Angel a deep look, but she didn’t say anything, she just said lightly: ”We’re almost there.”

After speaking, Laplace turned her head and said no more.

Laplace said nothing on the surface, but internally, she was pondering over Angel’s words.

Living muddled is indeed more comfortable than living clear-headed. Just like Angel, if he always showed a submissive posture when facing her, then achieving the subsequent cooperation would be impossible.

Because if Angel was afraid of her, he would not be able to present a world like the Crystal Origin of Dreams, much less directly ask her to help eliminate the Eliminator.

When Angel communicates with her, there is respect but also fearlessness, it is precisely this balance that allowed them to achieve the current harmonious situation.

Is this Angel’s muddlement?

Perhaps?

Because ordinary wizards, facing her, or even the Wise Sovereign outside, or facing Adanis, would behave nervously, truly having a plain conversation would only be achieved by pretending to be muddled.

But Laplace felt that Angel didn’t truly reveal the answer.

Muddlement is a concealed answer. Behind the facade of muddlement, there might be a deeper hidden truth.

... the foundation.

Or it could also be called the trump card.

If Angel had no foundation, Laplace wouldn’t believe that she could gain benefits from Adanis, nor believe that even the Wise Sovereign would yield the path to him.

In the Crystal Origin of Dreams, Laplace had also glimpsed a corner of Angel’s foundation. Or perhaps, Angel’s ability to create the Crystal Origin of Dreams is enough to show his foundation.

Truly muddled people wouldn’t dare to face the Abyss.

Angel just keeps the word ”muddled” on his lips, but his mind is very clear.

...

They walked in the Mirror Corridor for about three minutes, and Angel found that the surrounding environment had become increasingly absurd.

Previously, Angel saw mirrors emerging and extinguishing, turning into starlight. At that time, he was already shocked, but now, he saw a... galaxy.

A galaxy visible to the naked eye.

If the previous starlight was scattered points, then the galaxy in front of him was dense and concentrated. Countless mirrors emerged and extinguished here, and the mirrors seemed neverending, a mirror shattered in the first half-second, and a new one appeared and continued to shatter in the next.

He thought he had seen what the great terror was in the starlight, but the true great terror was this galactic hell!

This myriad of shattering mirrors made Angel’s spine shiver.

If he fell into this, the outcome would likely be worse than falling into the Sea of Void Mirror.

At least in the Sea of Void Mirror, there’s the step of turning into an Empty-hearted Person, but here, it’s a direct route to death.

Different worlds possess their own mighty powers.

And this, is the mighty power of the Mirror Domain.

Angel didn’t think he had a way to survive in such mighty power, but what surprised him was that even in this ”galaxy,” he actually saw many mirrors with domes covering them.

These domed mirrors, amidst the constantly emerging and extinguishing starlight, seemed out of place, yet they also invoked astonishment.

According to previous experiences, could it be that there are also mirror creatures within these mirrors?

As Angel was puzzled, Laplace said lightly: ”That is the Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom.”

”Ah?”

Laplace pointed to a certain blood-red dome below: ”Weren’t you just looking at it? Inside there is the Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom, a habitat for the Mirror Dragon Clan.”

There are dragon clans in the mirror?

Before Angel could fully process this information, Laplace casually pointed to a few surrounding domes.

”That golden dome over there is the only multi-race habitat in this Immortal Mirror Sea, the City of Hot Gold.”

Angel: ”Multi-race habitat?”

Laplace casually said: ”Unlike the previous Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom, which only allows the Mirror Dragon Clan inside, the City of Hot Gold allows almost all types of mirror creatures to enter... However, that’s just saying. Any mirror creature that can survive in the Immortal Mirror Sea and reach the City of Hot Gold is no weakling.”

”As for all clans? Having a hundred clans would already be good enough.”
