”You’ve come to the right person. Wait a moment while I find the information.”

Upon hearing Gu Xi ask about the history of this place, Kro immediately became excited.

He quickly rummaged through the backpack beside him, pulling out several dog-eared notebooks.

These notebooks contained records of the sites he had excavated, along with discoveries of archaeological artifacts.

Although most of the items were packed up and sent away.

But there were some items with recorded information that could be retained.

Kro quickly looked through them and pointed to a passage of text.

”Found it, this city was originally a gathering point for Elf Race to amass their forces for a final battle against Ancient Giant Dragons.

It served as a temporary camp designed to offer a place for the main forces of Elf Race to gather and rest.

At that time, over thirty different races of troops including Ancient Elves, Elemental Spirits, Golden Elves, Forest Elves, Wood Elves, Grassland Elves, Night Elves, High Elves were gathered in this camp,

This is what I’ve found, evidenced by various fragments of different elf weapons and equipment.

They also brought a significant amount of things; based on my archaeological findings, Elves before ancient times were a nomadic people.”

”Wait, nomadic people? What did they herd?”

”Big trees, natural spirits, and everything you can think of.”

Kro wasn’t even slightly annoyed by Gu Xi’s interruption because there was a lot of archaeological information that many did not believe, and he could only record it in his notebooks.

Gu Xi being willing to ask meant Gu Xi was willing to believe these things.

Bear in mind, to most people, Elves are seen as monkeys living on trees.

Eating grass and fruits, skinny like the Undead Mages.

Thinking of this, Kro glanced at Gu Xi again, with Gu Xi now appearing very much akin to an Elf Shooter, slim but with significant power and agility.

Gu Xi interrupted Kro only once; after that, he listened intently to whatever Kro said.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi’s builders were listening to Kro’s description, drawing out the city’s current situation.

The more they drew, the more things seemed off.

”Hold on, I don’t want to interrupt your story, but based on some of your archaeological findings, I drew a map. Could you see if this seems correct?”

A final architect interrupted Kro, leading him to see the map that he’d drawn.

”You mentioned earlier that within the city, Elves were stationed according to their races in different areas, which is why during the Ancient Giant Dragon’s surprise attack, Elves weren’t quick to react, right?

But based on the layout you described, I’ve drawn a map, and there seem to be some inconsistencies, many things don’t seem reasonable.”

Gu Xi also leaned over to take a look.

”There’s nothing unreasonable; Elves don’t focus on defense. This map doesn’t even have a City Wall or watchtower of any kind, which ensures that Elves could freely enter and exit the gathering point.

However, this also provided an opportunity for the Dragon. If I were a Dragon, I would definitely start the attack from this location.”

Gu Xi pointed at a location on the map.

Kro looked at Gu Xi in astonishment because the spot that Gu Xi pointed out was precisely where the epic records the dragon attacked.

At the time, the assistant dragon attacked while carrying the glow of dawn.

It was precisely this glow that made Elves temporarily blind to the enemy’s presence.

Due to this, after the Ancient Elf Race was established, about half the elves abandoned their faith in sunlight or brightness, choosing instead to live underground or in forests as dark as night.

However, Kro hadn’t yet explained this part of history to Gu Xi, yet Gu Xi could discern this point, indicating Gu Xi had grown in some aspects.

After showcasing his abilities, Gu Xi said, ”Alright, Kro, please continue.”

Kro shook his head; this was all he could find, and there wasn’t much else to say.

Initially, he came here just to find certain items; there was a legendary treasure artifact of the Elf Race, a special horn that would automatically produce a significant amount of gems daily.

Ancient Elves could use gems to craft arrows, solely because they had such a horn.

During that battle, Ancient Elves lost this horn, leading to the decline of the strongest Ancient Elves and, instead, the High Elves becoming the most powerful in the Elf Race.

There’s talk that during the Middle Ages, Elves were replaced by Humans primarily because they lost that horn, leaving no legacy of Ancient Elves.

And some Humans developed an interest in that horn, searched for it everywhere, and Kro’s archaeological efforts came here for this reason.

Nevertheless, even after extended excavation, he failed to find the horn, though he did unearth a large stash of gems at the camp’s center.

These gems had been buried underground for many years, hardly affected by time. Kro took all these gems and, aside from proving no horn was here, otherwise, Elves wouldn’t transport so many gems, he also profited greatly selling gems.

Besides gems, Kro also discovered some valuable items here; since they were unrelated to the horn and Elves’ possessions are considered fine collections among Humans, he sold those too.

From the current observation, it’s clear that Kro hadn’t thoroughly excavated the area.

Had he dug deeper, the location might have collapsed.

After hearing the history of the nearby gathering point, Gu Xi glanced again at the map drawn by the builders.

He silently estimated the area occupied by this underground gathering point.

Quickly coming up with a figure.

It’s slightly larger than the Maze Demon City, with at least a hundred thousand Elves buried here.

As for the Dragon corpses, Kro hadn’t discovered any.

In Kro’s opinion, Dragons must have attacked this place stealthily initially, so while annihilating the Elf Race there were minimal losses.

Elves who died were buried under volcanic ash, become trapped underground, perhaps why they slowly formed the soul of the city, only to perish in such manner.

After hearing this, Gu Xi quickly dismissed a plan.

Digging fifty meters of soil from the surface won’t work either.

Gu Xi had an intuition that the soil layer was also part of why Death City came into being.

If the soil were gone, this city would merely be ruins.

Three consecutive impossible plans led Gu Xi to find his goal.

He glanced at the ruins in front of him and asked Kro one last question.

”Kro, I’ve heard Elves plant the World Tree, is that true?”
