Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1180: Chapter 1178: Inside Bite Alliance City

Bite Alliance City, as the main capital city of the Daldo Empire, actually holds a relatively high level.

As he approached the city wall, Gu Xi could roughly estimate that Bite Alliance’s level should be above Level 9 and below Level 12.

The city’s size was only one-third of the total area of Yalidu City.

However, compared to the somewhat empty Yalidu, with various vacant plots and undeveloped areas, Bite Alliance’s land was fully constructed.

Most of the buildings here were said to be fully developed.

What caught Gu Xi’s attention the most was a high tower looming behind the city wall.

The tower was evidently a docking point for flying airships.

Around this high tower, six or seven of the flying airships that Gu Xi had seen earlier were docked.

But this wasn’t what actually captured Gu Xi’s attention; what truly fascinated him was a great angel in red armor standing atop the tower.

This great angel held a two-handed heavy sword in hand and stood like a statue at the very top of the tower.

Yet, Gu Xi could sense that this great angel was alive.

Following the presence of this great angel, Gu Xi looked in other directions.

He noticed that besides the great angel before him, many buildings in the city also had the presence of great angels.

However, Gu Xi found the placement of these great angels quite peculiar.

Some clearly tall buildings had no great angels.

While some less favorable locations had great angels in place.

Some core buildings lacked great angels, but some residential houses indeed had great angels.

Gu Xi followed the concept of a magic array but found that it wasn’t the case.

The positions of the great angels bore no relation to the magic array or earth vein.

This was clear as daylight with the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe.

Thus, even before entering the city, Gu Xi was fascinated by the situation in Bite Alliance.

Seeing Gu Xi pondering, Kro quickly stepped forward to shake him awake.

”Don’t meddle with things.”

”What?”

Gu Xi did not catch the meaning behind Kro’s words.

”Every city has its own secrets; don’t snoop around asking about the city’s arrangement.”

Gu Xi realized this; it seemed these angels were some of Bite Alliance’s arrangement.

Though unaware of the reason for such arrangement, outsiders were best not to inquire.

So, Gu Xi merely took a few more looks and transmitted everything he saw over to Luna for analysis and research.

He then followed Kro from Bite Alliance’s east gate and entered Bite Alliance City.

In Bite Alliance City, Gu Xi noticed that apart from their soldiers, other people didn’t fancy red much; in their daily life, they usually favored blue and green.

Their attire was likewise; even a little girl walking on the street wore blue or green dresses.

”Brother Gu, I’ve been here before; there’s a tavern over there that’s quite nice, with not only good food and drinks but also accommodation. Let’s settle there first.

I will treat you to a grand meal.”

Upon entering Bite Alliance City, Kro acted as if entering his own territory, leading Gu Xi toward a particular direction.

Gu Xi followed nodding, while checking his main quest.

He discovered the main quest had turned into a cyclic task.

The first cycle was escorting Kro to Rocovale, a task Gu Xi unknowingly completed.

Upon completing the task, the second cycle began, which was escorting Kro from Rocovale to Bite Alliance.

Now, this task was also completed.

The third cycle task was emerging; watching the task description spinning like a great wheel, Gu Xi felt curious about how the system would allocate tasks while Kro seemed content to idly enjoy city life in luxury.

”Brother Gu, hurry up; if we’re late, we might miss the prime soup.”

Kro hadn’t a clue about Gu Xi’s thoughts; he impatiently dragged Gu Xi along.

As they walked, he continued saying, ”Our luck is good today; upon entering the city it was just about eleven.

By the time we reach the tavern it’ll be noon; after some feasting and drinking, just in time for one o’clock, when work starts.

This timing is perfect for us; not only does it allow a wider selection but most have rested all day, and their energy is abundant.”

Gu Xi blinked, I’m just here for drinks; I didn’t understand a word of what you said.

To avoid being led astray by Kro, Gu Xi swiftly changed the topic.

”Kro, the age of these buildings seems a bit off; they don’t appear to be built in the same period.”

Indeed, the word ”age” was a powerful lure to an archaeologist like Kro.

Gu Xi didn’t need to say more before Kro began explaining.

”Don’t underestimate me; this one follows early Amidora architectural styling.

I’m certain this was one of the earliest structures built in Bite Alliance City.

Based on my archaeological research, during that time, Bite Alliance’s vicinity was still barren.

The construction was primarily stone-based, solid and wind-resistant.

Unlike later, as Bite Alliance was developed, they planted trees, easing the wind and sand.

The style then gradually transitioned to Kariel’s rainforest wetland style.

Look at those buildings with elevated floors; they reflect this style.”

However, journeys are always short, and Kro wasn’t one to drag Gu Xi around for building style lectures.

He was pressed for time, eager to find a spot for indulgence.

So, despite providing explanations about city architecture, he didn’t halt his pace.

Soon, Gu Xi was led to a tavern.

The tavern’s sign was quite prominent; even before entering, Gu Xi noticed two things.

One was a black dagger protruding from the windowsill on the tavern’s first floor.

Due to the inconspicuous location where the dagger was situated, if not paying particular attention, it could easily go unnoticed.

Gu Xi was well aware of the dagger’s significance.

This signaled to guests that the tavern was involved in information, assassin, and other thief-related transactions.

The other point rested atop the three-story tavern, stood a great angel clad in red armor.

As Kro prepared to enter, Gu Xi briefly halted Kro.

”Kro, inside is a thief’s intelligence station.”

”I know; rest assured, this place is semi-official; aside from other matters, the tavern is at Level 7 or higher; there’s no issue.”

Kro’s one sentence startled Gu Xi’s heart.

A sudden thought struck him.

He understood the reason behind the placement of a great angel atop every building in the city.

The buildings with great angels were all relatively high-level buildings.

Bite Alliance bound the great angels with advanced city structures together.
