As the Undead Calamity Array conducted an internal check, an eerie silence enveloped the entire battlefield once again.

The Other Ghosts surprisingly did not take this chance to launch a sneak attack.

This made Gu Xi somewhat surprised.

Taking advantage of this moment, Gu Xi finally tidied up his troops.

Gu Xi found that during the recent battles and subsequent reinforcements, gaps appeared in the lineup he had just filled.

Out of 1404 Skeleton Soldiers, over seven hundred perished, leaving only 701, not enough to even complete the standard formation of a few Combat Squads and the Bone-Slaying Camp.

The Zombies were affected even more directly, as they were the first to die, and those summoned by necromancy fought in the center of the battlefield. Now, only 52 Zombies remain, insufficient to form a squad.

Only the Ghosts were unaffected; their numbers did not decrease much, and their levels even increased to some extent.

As for the Skeletons reinforced by the Undead Calamity Array and the Undead transformed from dragged-in corpses, due to Gu Xi missing out on the victor’s rewards, they gained little enhancement.

Most importantly, their weapons and equipment didn’t receive any upgrades.

Whether delivered by the Undead Calamity Array or resurrected from corpse piles, they were all empty-handed.

This left the usually opportunistic Gu Xi speechless.

How could they fight without weapons?

They couldn’t just charge ahead, waiting for nearby Undead to fall so they could pick up their weapons, right?

Just then, the ground trembled again as another batch of Undead emerged from underground.

This batch was not the few Skeletons tasked with delivering the base earlier; this time, 2000 Skeleton Soldiers crawled out.

All of them had reached Level 4, with 1500 wielding swords and shields as proper Skeleton Soldiers, while another 500 were floating half-bodies as Skeleton Mages.

These Skeleton Soldiers were specially sent by the Mage Leader as a reward for Gu Xi.

The reward was for Gu Xi discovering the Undead Calamity Ritual Array’s issue.

After inspecting, the Mage Leader found that Gu Xi’s situation was actually favorable.

In the other ninety-nine nodes, most bases had been replaced.

If it hadn’t been discovered early, the Other Ghosts would have seized the Undead Calamity Array in the next wave of battle.

Then, the accumulated Negative Energy and numerous Undead would be controlled by the Other Ghosts, ultimately becoming part of them.

This would be a significant blow to the Mage Leader.

He had cause to believe there was a powerful Leader Level commanding behind the Other Ghosts.

So after quickly replacing the bases, the Mage Leader sent this troop to Gu Xi.

It was a reward for Gu Xi’s discovery.

Meanwhile, the Mage Leader understood the issue this time.

Out of the hundred nodes, only Gu Xi kept the enemies outside the Undead Calamity Array.

The rest lured the enemies inside the nodes, fighting using the Negative Energy and Traits within.

This gave the enemies a chance to replace the bases.

But even understanding the cause, the Mage Leader couldn’t send the players out to fight.

He knew the strength of the chosen Undead Mages.

Aside from Gu Xi being hard to gauge, the potential of the others was already evident.

Sending them outside the Undead Calamity Array to fight the Other Ghosts would be sending them to their deaths.

The Mage Leader couldn’t forcefully send them out.

Now, the Mage Leader can only hope Gu Xi, considering the troop he’s sent, would go out of the array to fight the Other Ghosts.

Then, there would be a safe node to serve as a retreat.

Gu Xi wasn’t aware of the Mage Leader’s thoughts.

But the addition of these 2000 Skeletons did replenish Gu Xi’s evidently lacking combat strength.

At this moment, Gu Xi inventoried his possessions, feeling capable once more.

He had two bottles of Magic Potion left from the ten exchanged before entering this world, meaning he could use Death Incarnation twice more.

As long as nothing unexpected happens, resisting the final wave of attack by the Other Ghosts should be possible.

Once this ordeal is over, he’ll exchange for larger bottles of Magic Potion, as the current medium bottles can’t fully replenish his Mana.

While Gu Xi was considering these matters, the Token protected behind the City Gate suddenly glowed.

The Mage Leader’s intermittent voice came through.

”Comrades... beware... start... careful... horse...”

Listening to this voice, Gu Xi immediately sensed something wrong.

He quickly ran to the platform holding the Token, finding the white light on the Token still on but flickering, as if affected by something.

”This is bad!”

Gu Xi instantly understood what was happening.

The enemy was influencing the Undead Calamity Array, severing the connections between its nodes.

Next would be the enemy’s full-on assault.

Gu Xi’s heart tightened as he heard the sound of popping.

Looking in the direction of the sound, Gu Xi saw an enormous number of red balloons appear in the sky.

These balloons reached the node controlled by Gu Xi and exploded, releasing countless colorful slips of paper from the sky, filling the node with a bizarrely cheerful atmosphere.

The popping noise Gu Xi heard was from the exploding balloons.

As he looked up, more and more balloons burst.

”Death Incarnation.”

Gu Xi instantly sensed something wrong and immediately sent out the Death Incarnation, hoping it could drive away these balloons.

But Gu Xi was a step too late.

As the Death Incarnation soared, over a thousand red balloons of varying sizes had already entered Gu Xi’s node and continued to explode.

Initially, the balloons released colorful slips of paper, but as more balloons burst, they became various powders, coloring the sky with a rainbow array.

As the powder fell, Gu Xi realized his control over the Undead Corps weakened significantly.

This was meant to sever the connections between the nodes of the Undead Calamity Array.

Just understanding this, Gu Xi heard a swoosh from afar, like a black mass flashing before him.

Gu Xi instinctively ducked his head as it passed.

But the next instant, he heard the swoosh again, as the black mass retreated.

Gu Xi looked up and saw a colossal Pirate Ship over 500 meters long, swaying above the node he had suppressed.

Standing at the helm was a pirate captain with a clown face paint, wearing a white baboon fur coat, sporting an iron hook hand, and a single leg.

Behind him were a thousand eerie pirates with clown faces.

From their movements, it was clear they were poised to jump down and launch an attack.
