Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 160: Chapter 158: The Enemy Appears

”Sir, wake up, sir!”

In a daze, Gu Xi heard Luna’s voice, and even felt cold little hands pressing on his face, seemingly trying to wake him up.

Gu Xi sat up, glanced at Luna, who was holding a roasted owl and a cup of Green Ghost in her hands.

”Thank you, this is exactly what I need right now. Luna, how long have I slept?”

Glancing at the Undead already positioned, Gu Xi reached out to take the food and drink.

”About two and a half hours, sir. The stone golems and new skeleton soldiers, skeleton shooters are in place, and the enemy seems to be approaching.”

”Approaching?”

Gu Xi tore off a leg of the owl, biting fiercely as he looked outside.

He noticed bizarre creatures approaching from a distance of about seven to eight kilometers away.

These creatures resembled mummies, but their skin was red, and among their ranks, some rode on yaks, beating drums of unknown material, directing the troops toward this direction.

Gu Xi could only see their emergence from afar, unable to determine their number or strength.

He turned to look at Luna, then climbed the stairs behind the city gate to the top of the gate tower.

Above the city gate, 15 stone golems were huddled together at the edge of the city wall, wrapping their wings around themselves like statues, waiting for the attack command.

”Go scout the enemy’s situation.”

Gu Xi ordered seriously. If not for the owl meat he was still chewing in his mouth, he might have seemed more commanding.

The stone golems flew up immediately, dividing into three groups of five, heading into the distance.

Standing atop the gate tower, Gu Xi found this position more suitable for commanding the battle.

From here, he could easily see all situations within two kilometers.

This would make battle command considerably easier.

However, Gu Xi also realized that this position was somewhat removed from the battlefield. Many spells could not reach every corner of the battlefield.

Also, from his location, he couldn’t oversee the battles below the city gate, which would be a blind spot.

While Gu Xi studied the feasibility of commanding the battle atop the gate tower, the stone golems returned.

Although unable to speak, they had no problem communicating. They drew the enemy’s situation in the dust on the ground.

Three round rolls in a pinwheel shape represented the enemy’s battle array layout.

While unsure if the number was three thousand or six thousand, one thing was certain: the enemy was not the type to mindlessly charge.

There should be corresponding commanders among them.

”What kind of troops do they have?”

Realizing the enemy wasn’t easy to deal with, Gu Xi quickly asked.

The stone golems gestured and demonstrated, explaining the situation to Gu Xi through their actions.

From the stone golems’ gestures, Gu Xi could discern many things. He understood there was a reason why stone golems were the mage’s most capable subordinates.

Their movements were very precise and easy to understand.

After watching for a moment, Gu Xi grasped the general situation of the enemy.

This wave of incoming enemies was not very strong. Based on the stone golems’ judgment, their strength was about equal to the stone golems themselves.

That is around level 3 to 4.

The numbers form three groups, mostly humanoid, moving slowly. The stone golems could easily fly four or five times over their heads before they could react.

As for their combat power, it wasn’t clear yet, but seeing the current enemy’s situation, their movement speed was slow, implying they had thick hides and high health.

Gu Xi pondered for a while, looking down at the area below the city gate tower.

At this moment, Luna was leading the Undead Corps, instructing the just-transformed ordinary undead.

Facing this situation, Gu Xi decisively said, ”Luna.”

Upon hearing the voice, Luna glanced up at Gu Xi, and saw him make a pushing-forward gesture atop the city gate tower.

Luna then led the ghosts forward to fly out, and those skeletons that had always stayed within the Undead Calamity Array now moved outward under Luna’s guidance.

The charging skeletons were all newly transformed and lacked proper equipment, wielding weapons made of bone turned into longswords or hand axes.

But under Luna’s leadership, they marched forward with the momentum akin to a triumphant army.

As for Gu Xi’s troops, only the Skeleton Shooter Boss received orders and followed out, while the rest stayed in place, even the Bone-Slaying Camp showed no intention of attacking.

With the Undead Corps advancing, Gu Xi descended the city gate tower, standing atop the Evil Coffin, holding the Cold Wind Staff in hand, positioned at the frontline of the battlefield, watching the Undead Corps charge.

In the sky, 15 stone golems circled.

As the Undead Corps moved beyond the Undead Calamity’s control range, Gu Xi felt the ground starting to shake again.

This was because there were no longer enough undead here, so the Undead Calamity ritual was transmitting new undead.

However, since the original undead belonging here hadn’t perished, the new undead could only linger underground, unable to emerge.

With this discovery, Gu Xi smiled.

Now, he didn’t need to worry about the number of his troops.

Without considering the issue of undead troop strength, the undead battle strategy had only one form, frontal impact.

”Kill!”

At Gu Xi’s shout, the originally marching skeletons began to charge.

Their sudden assault startled the three opposing units.

In the eyes of the red-skinned mummies, this was very unusual.

It’s understandable for the undead to leave their defensive line.

After all, some players tend to keep enemies outside their defensive line.

But with a distance of over 1,500 meters between them, why would they launch an attack?

Is it possible these skeleton soldiers have some other unknown combat style?

The red-skinned mummy leader was also a bit helpless. He hesitated for a moment before raising his weapon and ordering a charge at the approaching skeleton soldiers.

All the red-skinned mummies then began to run, even the drumming within their ranks seemingly sped up significantly.

Seeing the red-skinned mummies charge as well, Gu Xi laughed. Their charge messed up their formation.

Additionally, the premature charge disrupted the opponent’s rhythm, and now the situation was under Gu Xi’s control.

At this point, Gu Xi tapped the Evil Coffin with the Cold Wind Staff, and the Evil Coffin charged forward at full strength in the direction of the battlefield.
