Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 167: Chapter 165: All-Out War Erupts (41/149)

As the forces of both sides clashed, Gu Xi’s attention returned to the battlefield.

He ignored the Death Incarnation in the sky and continuously unleashed the Bone Storm on the areas with the most enemies.

Gu Xi had already experimented and found that this Bone Storm was the most effective in the current large scenes.

Usually, under a Bone Storm, all enemies within a five-meter radius would be torn to pieces.

And outside the Bone Storm, there were always some enemies pushed into the range of the Bone Storm due to the pressure from the rear troops, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the Bone Storm.

With Gu Xi’s support, and coupled with the Death Incarnation occasionally diving from the sky, even though the numbers were similar, Gu Xi’s side slowly gained the upper hand.

Several Undead Bosses were leading their troops forward, and the Bone-Slaying Camp, having just gained another Boss, was extremely excited. Under the leadership of the two Bosses, all the Skeleton Soldiers wielded their two-handed longswords or long sabers, charging into the enemy’s battle array.

They didn’t even care about the enemy’s attacks, wielding their weapons with swift movements, their advance no slower than a fully-manned Combat Squad.

Wherever they charged, the enemy’s corpses were mostly beheaded or split in two on the spot, and their charge was directed at the enemy Boss’s location.

At this moment, Gu Xi, riding on a Skeleton Warhorse, suddenly heard a bang from behind.

He turned his head to look back and was surprised to see a white Defense Shield appear above the Undead Calamity Ritual Array.

The explosion sound had come from there.

Could it be that while Gu Xi was dealing with these enemies, someone secretly circled around to the Undead Calamity Array to steal their base?

This thought gave Gu Xi quite a scare; his task was to guard that Token, not to kill enemies.

If he lost the Token in pursuit of killing enemies, that would be a poor trade-off.

So Gu Xi didn’t think too much and turned to run towards the city gate.

After a few steps, Gu Xi found that the Token was still under the protection of the city gate and hadn’t been attacked.

”Thank goodness.”

Relaxing a bit, Gu Xi then turned his attention to the current situation.

What on earth was the explosion about, not only loud but also triggering this Defense Shield?

In fact, Gu Xi didn’t know that just now, the outermost one hundred nodes of the Undead Calamity Ritual Array had been attacked by large groups of Otherworldly Corps.

The Undead Mage players defending these node positions did not have Gu Xi’s ability to keep enemies out of the Undead Calamity Array.

They could only deploy a defense line at each node with three thousand Skeletons, supplemented by hundreds of leveled Undead they had, waiting for the enemy’s attack.

Of course, there was an advantage to this strategy: the fallen Skeletons would quickly be replenished by the Undead Calamity Ceremony.

At the same time, the corpses of killed enemies would immediately be transformed by the Undead Calamity Ritual Array into new Undead joining the players’ troops.

As long as the first wave of enemy attacks could be withstood, the number of Undead would only continue to grow, making failure generally impossible.

And the Mage Leader had selected players for these one hundred nodes who were relatively famous and strong Undead Mages from the Scattered Immortal Garden.

Each had a few signature skills.

They could withstand the attacks of the first two or three waves.

The explosion sound Gu Xi heard was merely the result of the Undead Calamity Ritual Array being impacted by enemies, triggering the array’s built-in effects.

This served as the first line of defense against the enemy and also as a reminder to players at other nodes that an attack had already occurred at some nodes, so they should take heed.

Such situations were new to Gu Xi; he had just joined the Chaoyang Radiance Guild, hadn’t undergone any specialized guild training, and was sent to the Scattered Immortal Garden.

Therefore, without knowing this, Gu Xi assumed his position had been attacked upon hearing the explosion, causing him to retreat out of the battlefield and rush back to the city gate.

Seeing that the Token he needed to guard was safe, Gu Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He certainly did not want the Token to be stolen by the enemy at this critical time.

After checking the Token, Gu Xi was about to return to the battlefield, but just then, he noticed that Luna, thinking something had happened due to his early exit, quickly dispatched a portion of her forces over.

This gave the previously overwhelmed enemy a chance to catch their breath.

Watching the incoming Ghosts and Skeleton Shooter troops, Gu Xi felt somewhat touched.

Despite knowing that the battle outside was most intense, Luna had sent her most vital troops over, showing just how much she cared about him.

”I’m fine. Skeleton Shooter Boss, lead the Skeleton Shooter troops outside; the battle out there isn’t over yet.”

The Skeleton Shooter Boss, upon hearing this, decisively turned around and headed back the way they came.

Following him were all the Skeleton Shooter troops under Gu Xi’s command.

Just as they were about to leave the range of the Undead Calamity Ritual Array, the Token emitted a sudden glow.

The voice of the Mage Leader came from the Token.

”Attention everyone, the first wave of attacks has arrived, and some places have engaged the enemy.

I don’t care what the situation is now or what kind of enemies you are facing; I only hope you can protect the nodes you are guarding and refrain from using Corpse Burst or similar body-destroying spells.

This battle will be prolonged; everyone must manage their forces to last at least twenty-four hours.

After twenty-four hours, the Undead Calamity Ceremony will enter the second stage, relieving some of our pressure by then.

During this period, the enemy will launch three to four waves of attacks. If encountering an emergency, you can activate the rescue signal on the Token, and nearby patrol units will come to assist.

But each person only has one chance to call for help, so don’t use it casually.

Also, for those with spare capacity, refrain from interfering with the defense of other nodes.

That would be irresponsible...”

Listening to the Mage Leader’s rambling voice, Gu Xi finally felt much at ease.

From the Mage Leader’s words, he realized that the explosion wasn’t due to any issues on his side but because of engagements at other node positions with the Other Ghosts.

The Other Ghosts had even infiltrated the interior of the Undead Calamity Array, causing the explosion.

It seemed his decision to keep the enemy outside the Undead Calamity Ritual Array was correct.

Otherwise, he would have been the one embarrassed.
