Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 165: Chapter 163: Engaging the Enemy

Luna did not ask Gu Xi why he wanted to launch an offensive. After receiving his order, she began to guide the troops towards the enemy.

At this moment, Gu Xi also saw what the enemy looked like.

The first enemies to appear in front of Gu Xi seemed like corpses freshly pulled out of water, continually dripping water. Some had water plants hanging on their heads, and others had fish or crabs biting onto them.

Some bodies had become swollen from being soaked in water, making them unrecognizable.

But regardless of their appearance, they all shared a common feature: their skin was red.

Whether crimson, pink, blood red, or dark red, these enemies all sported a red skin.

Their movements were also noticeably different; some even managed to run and charge, while others could only move forward step by step.

When they burst out, it always gave an impression of chaos.

Among the enemies, the leaders of this group were clearly visible.

Three red-skinned leaders with white baboon pelts directed the chaotic troops in an orderly fashion.

Their division of labor was very clear.

One charged ahead with a weapon at the forefront of the battlefield, another directed everything from the middle of the troops, and a third seemed to be preparing some magic at a rear position on the battlefield.

It was apparent that they had a full plan as they charged out.

But when Gu Xi mounted the Skeleton Warhorse and appeared on the battlefield, he too had a plan.

He glanced down at his remaining mana and tightly gripped the magic potion in his hand.

The Spirit Lamp hung around the neck of the Skeleton Warhorse, while the Cold Wind Staff remained held level, closely watching every movement on the battlefield.

As Luna’s undead slew the first red-skinned enemy, Gu Xi immediately pointed at the corpse.

”Soul Drawing!”

”Soul Summoning Skill!”

With this combination, the flesh of the slain red-skinned enemy dispersed rapidly, and a skeleton stood up from the ground.

[You have successfully used the Soul Summoning Skill, obtaining a skeleton (level 0), gaining 1 point of experience in Soul Summoning Skill, and the Undead Domination automatically strengthens, incorporating into Combat Squad 1, Squad Member +1.]

At this moment, the Skeleton Boss of Combat Squad 1 quickly stepped forward, performing a motion towards this level 0 skeleton, placing a long spear into its hand.

”Success!”

A gleam of delight appeared in Gu Xi’s eyes.

Actually, when he was still on the city gate tower, Gu Xi had been contemplating how to proceed with the upcoming battle.

But he couldn’t find a strategy until the news brought by the Stone Golem revealed to him the corpses discarded outside, which were turning into new undead due to the Undead Calamity Ceremony.

This gave Gu Xi an idea.

If these bodies could be utilized by the Undead Calamity, they could certainly be used for his Soul Summoning Skill too.

Using this opportunity to bolster his troops didn’t seem unreasonable.

Gu Xi’s demands weren’t high; he only needed to fill the ranks of two combat squads along with the Bone-Slaying Camp to full strength.

As for the skeletons newly summoned at level 0, that was not an issue.

Once the battle started, all the undead had the potential to level up at any time.

Especially in such a large-scale battle, Combat Squad 1’s attack method would be the most suitable combat style. As long as there were enough spearmen, they could quickly dominate any part of the battlefield, even if just a small section.

Having confirmed his methods, Gu Xi decisively took action.

He rode the Skeleton Warhorse, following behind the Undead Corps, continuously drawing and summoning souls.

After replenishing Combat Squad 1, the new skeletons swiftly joined Combat Squad 2 and the Bone-Slaying Camp.

Gradually, the situation on the battlefield came under Gu Xi’s control.

Gu Xi’s actions also caught the attention of the red-skinned enemies. The leader in the middle of their ranks gave a signal, and the fierce general at the forefront immediately turned his gaze towards Gu Xi.

This red-skinned leader was about two meters tall, holding a large knife nearly as tall as himself. Bone spikes protruded around his eyes, and where the spikes pierced the skin, black blood oozed continuously, resembling tears of blood.

Besides the bone spikes around his eyes, this leader had no other protrusions or bone spikes. He wore bone armor made of white bone, with a bone shield circling him, and a white baboon pelt draped over his back as a mark of his leadership.

Upon focusing on Gu Xi, he swung his large knife even faster, clearly with the intent of appearing directly in front of Gu Xi and striking him down with one blow.

However, currently from his position, there was still some distance to cover to reach Gu Xi. When the leader eyed him fiercely, a hint of disdain flickered in Gu Xi’s eyes.

Facing the direction of the enemy leader, Gu Xi raised a hand to his neck, gesturing as if to cut him down.

Then Gu Xi’s attention turned to the freshly slain red-skinned corpses.

As the Combat Squad 1’s force became fully replenished, the situation was essentially under Gu Xi’s control.

The Skeleton Boss of Combat Squad 1 had strong commanding abilities, arranging his troops in a line to advance, thrust, and have the rear line step up.

This simple and brutal attack method was very effective on such a large battlefield.

With almost every strike, ten to fifteen enemies were impaled on the ground by long spears, with no need for finishing blows as the skeletons promptly mopped up the fallen foes.

Afterward, Gu Xi’s Soul Drawing and Soul Summoning Skill would swiftly pass over them. Regardless of success or failure, Combat Squad 1 would not pause but continue charging forward.

With such a battle unfolding, the battlefield became a vortex of blood and flesh centered around Combat Squad 1, drawing red-skinned enemies in.

All Gu Xi could do now was follow closely, continuously summoning souls.

Even while observing the surrounding situation and taunting the enemy leader, it could only be done in fleeting moments.

His attention remained on the Soul Drawing and Soul Summoning Skill.

And at this moment, the fierce general leader was infuriated by Gu Xi’s actions.

Roaring loudly, he swept aside the skeleton blocking his path with one strike and charged towards Gu Xi with large strides.

As he roared, Gu Xi naturally noticed him and, after checking his remaining mana, said somewhat displeased.

”There’s still 201 mana points left. I could summon at least two hundred more Skeleton Soldiers, but it’s all ruined by you. You deserve to die!”

Having said that, Gu Xi pointed the Cold Wind Staff at the charging fierce general leader.

”Death Incarnation!”
