Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 168: Chapter 166: Soul Summoning Skill Level 5

Listening to the Mage Leader’s voice from the token, Gu Xi was still studying the token’s function.

Luna had already hurriedly rushed back with the troops.

Although the Skeleton Shooter Boss had delivered the message that there was no problem at the rear and Gu Xi didn’t need to arrange troops for protection,

Luna still wasn’t at ease.

Even at the cost of troops, she had forcibly clashed the undead with the enemy, quickly ending the final battle.

Under the attack of the Death Incarnation, the Otherworldly Ghost Boss was finally torn into two halves.

After the battle ended, instead of letting the undead clean up the battlefield, Luna quickly brought her team over to check on Gu Xi’s situation.

Seeing Luna rush back with the troops, Gu Xi knew her intentions.

”Luna, I’m fine, it’s not a problem on our side, it’s just that the other nodes have also engaged with the enemy. How is the situation outside?”

”It’s already over, but because there was some haste later, the losses are a bit heavy.”

When Luna talked about the losses, she looked at a few skeletons following behind her.

Gu Xi understood at a glance that the ones with the most severe losses were those skeletons sent over by the Undead Calamity Ritual Array, judging by the number of skeletons that returned, it’s likely that more than half were killed outside in the fight.

”Alright, I’m fine, what’s going to happen to an Undead Mage like me, go clean up the battlefield first, the lost skeletons will be replenished.”

Gu Xi was right. When the Undead Corps retreated back to the Undead Calamity Ritual Array, the array on the ground had already lit up, and the lost skeletons began to be replenished.

At this moment, Gu Xi also noticed that it seemed the Undead Calamity Ritual Array could discern between which undead were sent over by them and which were summoned from enemy corpses.

They replenished the 3,000 troops, only replenishing that batch of skeletons they had sent over.

Others would not be replenished.

But the undead summoned from enemy corpses, as long as they entered the range of influence of the Undead Calamity Array, could also receive experience boosts, and some undead who couldn’t upgrade on the battlefield were upgraded upon entering the range of the Undead Calamity Array.

Seeing the further replenishment of the Undead Corps, Luna finally relaxed, a few Undead Bosses stepped forward together, commanding the skeletons that just crawled out of the ground to clean up the battlefield.

After arranging for the Heavy Armor Zombies and Ghosts to guard the token, Gu Xi himself rode a Skeleton Warhorse and charged out.

Earlier, Gu Xi was experimenting with the effects of the Soul Summoning Skill on the battlefield.

The skeletons summoned by the Soul Summoning Skill used by an Undead Mage could be incorporated into Gu Xi’s forces to replenish his troop strength.

In these few battles, Gu Xi had suffered quite serious losses.

He planned to take this opportunity to properly replenish his forces.

Now was just such an opportunity.

Charging outside the control range of the Undead Calamity Array again, Gu Xi actively used the Soul Extraction Skill and Soul Summoning Skill in the most intense combat areas.

[You used Soul Summoning Skill successfully, obtained one Zombie (Level 0), Soul Summoning Skill experience 1 point.]

After using up all his Mana in one breath, Gu Xi then looked up to check the results of this attempt.

Once the Soul Summoning Skill reached Level 5, it finally transitioned from quantitative change to qualitative change, giving Gu Xi a chance to summon better types of undead like Zombies.

Moreover, the chance to summon a Zombie was not based on luck, but on the corpse itself.

If the corpse was intact and the flesh abundant, then the summoned undead would be a Zombie.

This made Gu Xi’s eyes light up.

It’s not that Gu Xi particularly liked Zombies, but rather, among Level 0 undead, Zombies have higher combat power than Skeletons.

[Zombie (Level 0, Summoned Corps): Experience (0/100) Attack 2, Defense 4, Life 20, Skill Undead Creatures, Combat Bite.]

In terms of growth potential, Zombies are also much stronger than Skeletons.

Except for speed which can’t match that of Skeletons, in all other respects, Zombies surpass Skeletons in many ways, a Zombie of the same level can handle two Skeletons simultaneously without external aid.

Such a transformation greatly boosted Gu Xi’s combat power.

Gu Xi was contemplating at this time whether these newly transformed Zombies could use weapons like long spears; if so, the combat tactics of Combat Squad 1 could be applied to them.

Apart from these Zombies, among the newly summoned undead, there was also a Skeleton Mage Boss.

Gu Xi didn’t know how this one was summoned, but it stood there, looking distinct from the other skeletons, with a body conspicuously lacking a lower half, floating forward like a ghost.

The head was indeed a skull, but there was a special symbol on the forehead.

Gu Xi had never seen a Skeleton Mage before, so he took a closer look, and with his Magic Knowledge, he could somewhat recognize that the symbol conveyed the meaning of lightning.

[Skeleton Mage Boss (Level 0, Summoned Creatures): Experience (0/500) Attack 4, Defense 1, Life 12, Skills: Lightning Arrow, Squad Commander (27 people).]

In terms of strength, among a few Undead Bosses under Gu Xi, it was somewhat notable.

However, the Skeleton Mage Boss’s luck was extremely poor.

Gu Xi had just this one Skeleton Mage, the rest were all skeletons or zombies, ghosts, and such.

In Gu Xi’s team, only Gu Xi and Luna could be counted as part of the Magic System.

Gu Xi certainly couldn’t place Luna into the Skeleton Mage Boss’s combat squad.

So before Gu Xi’s Undead Domination skill level increased, the Skeleton Mage Boss could only battle alone.

As for the other uses typical of a Mage, this Skeleton Mage Boss couldn’t manage it either.

Without a brain, it couldn’t assist an Undead Mage in researching spells like a Corpse Witch could.

To Gu Xi, the Skeleton Mage Boss had only one role.

Useless appendage!
