Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 164: Chapter 162: Reorganized Undead Corps

”My lord, the armaments have been delivered, and Kane is currently evaluating the materials being sent in. I believe we will have results soon.”

Upon rushing back from Yalidov, Luna immediately reported the situation in the city to Gu Xi.

”Alright, thank you for your efforts.”

Gu Xi spoke while his hands remained busy.

At this moment, Gu Xi was categorizing the Skeleton Soldiers by dragging a few Skeleton Bosses.

The Bone-Slaying Camp and the two Combat Squads each had their own standards for judging excellent soldiers.

Under their analysis, it was clear which positions the 876 Skeleton Soldiers were best suited for.

Although these Skeleton Soldiers were not yet enlisted into a squad, the greatest trait of the Undead is obedience. Gu Xi planned to have these Skeleton Soldiers, like the Skeleton Shooters, follow the Bosses into battle.

This time, when the fight breaks out, the battle situation will not be as chaotic as the last encounter.

Seeing this situation, Luna stepped forward to help.

She also mentioned some details about the battlefield cleanup to Gu Xi.

Gu Xi listened attentively, for he knew the current situation was no joke and needed to have a clear understanding of certain matters.

While Luna was explaining these things to Gu Xi, a few Stone Golems suddenly flew down from the city gate tower.

Luna looked at the Stone Golems, intending to say something, but Gu Xi stopped her.

”I arranged for them to keep an eye on the battlefield outside. The moment there’s movement, they will come to inform me. It seems we have enemies approaching.”

Gu Xi glanced at his side, noting that the Evil Coffin was still shrouded in a cloud of black mist, making it temporarily unusable.

However, the positions for the Skeleton Soldiers had already been assigned, and they were conducting their final arrangements.

As soon as the enemy appears, they can deploy at any time.

The controlled forces filled Gu Xi with instant confidence.

”I’ll go up and take a look.”

Saying this, Gu Xi climbed up the city gate tower, looking out towards the previous battlefield.

At the battlefield, many corpses remained scattered, most of which were red-skinned mummies, with some being slain Skeletons.

While cleaning up the battlefield, Gu Xi only considered usable materials, and since these corpses couldn’t be used for Corpse Burst and he didn’t have enough Mana to Summon them, he simply gathered them together and left them there.

Never did Gu Xi expect that these piled corpses would be affected by the Undead Calamity Magic Array, resulting in them rising from the ground.

Only about half of the corpses managed to rise, but regardless, all the remaining corpses decayed rapidly under the influence of some mysterious power, turning into black liquid that seeped underground, disappearing from the battlefield.

Of those that reanimated, over eighty percent turned into Skeletons, with some becoming Zombies and Undead, and a small portion transforming into floating Ghosts.

As they rose, they stood still as if awaiting some command.

Standing on the city gate tower, Gu Xi felt a sudden realization.

Could this also be an effect of the Undead Calamity Magic Array?

Could defeated corpses instantly transform into new Undead to join the battle?

No wonder Liu Zishi specifically mentioned not using Corpse Burst at the beginning.

It seems that the enemy’s corpses are also part of the material for the Undead Calamity Magic Array.

However, Gu Xi had dragged the battlefield outside of the Magic Array, and without bringing the corpses back after cleanup, the influence of the Undead Calamity Ceremony weakened, only now completing the transformation of these corpses.

Now these Undead awaited Gu Xi’s orders.

Of course, since Gu Xi did not provide them with Resurrection Mana, he could only command them, not be their master.

This fact cannot be changed.

But the addition of these 1,500 soldiers presented Gu Xi with newfound hope.

”Luna, summon all those Undead outside; send the reorganized troops out. This time, our chances of victory in the battle have increased significantly.”

Seeing Gu Xi’s excitement, Luna, though unaware of what occurred, began to drift outside.

At this moment, another Stone Golem flew in from afar, landing on the city gate tower and using gestures to convey a message to Gu Xi.

”What did you say? New enemies have appeared, and this time there are many of them?”

From the Stone Golem’s actions, Gu Xi inferred a lot, calling out loudly as Luna was about to leave.

”Luna, take the troops out. The enemies are coming; prepare for battle.”

Hearing this right before leaving the range of the Undead Calamity Magic Array, Luna decisively pointed to a few Undead Bosses.

The newly assigned Undead followed the Undead Bosses outside, with a group of unranked ordinary Skeletons organized behind.

Until they reached Level 3, their role was merely cannon fodder.

After Luna’s sortie, Gu Xi turned his attention to the Evil Coffin enveloped in a black aura, unsure when this evolution would complete.

For now, it was unusable.

With no other choice, Gu Xi summoned a Skeleton Warhorse, holding the Cold Wind Staff, and reached the edge of the Undead Calamity Magic Array.

By now, Luna had also come into contact with the newly risen Undead from the Corpse Heap.

As soon as contact was made, these Undead came under Luna’s control.

With Luna’s command, they would promptly execute orders.

Under Luna’s influence, these Undead quickly integrated into the Undead Corps under Gu Xi’s command.

However, as they were newly Summoned Undead and not influenced by the Undead Calamity Magic Array, their Level, regardless of type, remained at Level 0.

This clearly made them inferior to those raised within the Undead Calamity Magic Array.

Now, this group of over 1,500 Undead essentially served as cannon fodder.

The following more than 2,100 Skeletons formed the second unit, succeeded by the Skeleton Soldiers and Gu Xi’s main forces at Level 3.

This arrangement allowed Gu Xi to easily control the entire battlefield, and he had already planned to push the battlefield further back.

The effects of the Undead Calamity Ritual Array were excellent; failing to utilize every possible resource would be a real waste.

Only by leveraging the Undead Calamity Array effectively could Gu Xi survive the upcoming battles.

As Luna reorganized her troops, the enemies mentioned by the Stone Golem appeared.

This time, the enemy force was not merely three to five thousand but rather a continuous onslaught of troops.

Seeing the enemies emerge from the Darkness, Gu Xi gripped his Cold Wind Staff tightly.

”Prepare for battle!”
