Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 139: Chapter 137: Sacred Artifact - Sword of Courage

Gu Xi didn’t care about anything else and carefully took out the newly acquired Sacred Artifact.

It was a Two-Handed Longsword carved from stone, with moss even growing at the tip of the sword.

[Sacred Artifact - Sword of Courage (Level 1): Can be placed within the city, granting a permanent +3 Attack Power bonus to every Boss, Hero, or Leader in the city, or the player occupying this city.]

[Note 1: Once placed, the Sacred Artifact cannot be moved, and it will be destroyed if the city is conquered.]

[Note 2: The Sacred Artifact can be placed in the Supporting Buildings slot, granting the city +3 Experience upon placement.]

[Note 3: The Sacred Artifact can be upgraded through special means or manually.]

Looking at the artifact’s Attributes, Gu Xi hesitated a bit, unable to determine if this Sacred Artifact was good or bad.

The only Sacred Artifact he knew of was one he learned about in school, from textbooks, which was said to have a 3% chance to turn enemies attacking the city with a Sacred Artifact into flowers on the spot.

This effect was entirely different from the Sword of Courage in his hand.

Gu Xi was momentarily indecisive.

Just then, footsteps came from the pier, and with a wave of his hand, the Cold Wind Staff lifted Gu Xi onto the deck.

”Sir, I brought Kane over.”

Luna spoke as she floated to Gu Xi’s side.

Seeing Luna approach, Gu Xi also smiled, ”Luna, you came at the right time, take a look at this.”

Gu Xi raised the Sword of Courage, and Luna’s eyes lit up.

”A Sacred Artifact?”

”Oh, you can tell?”

Gu Xi was a bit surprised, not expecting Luna to have such insight.

”Yes, I can tell. There was one in Victoria City before, and it was even copied to Yalidov City, right in the Upper City District.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi’s eyes lit up.

Could today be a double blessing?

He never expected that just after obtaining a Sacred Artifact, he would immediately hear news of another one.

However, Gu Xi soon asked seriously, ”Luna, I saw in the description of the Sacred Artifact that if a city is conquered, the Sacred Artifact will be destroyed. If we take the Upper City District, won’t this Sacred Artifact be destroyed?”

”It shouldn’t be. Although we’re currently in a hostile relationship with the Upper City District, both here and there are called Yalidov, so we’re actually considered one city.

As long as we can take the Upper City District, the Sacred Artifact is ours, and we just can’t move where it was originally placed.”

”That’s good. Take the Sacred Artifact back first, oh, and take this as well.”

As Gu Xi spoke, he took out the Building Stone.

”Use it when constructing the Longgu Laboratory.”

Luna glanced at the Building Stone and immediately understood its purpose.

It was essentially a construction accelerator, compressing the work that would normally take one or two days into an instant.

Though such things weren’t uncommon, they weren’t exactly rare, either. Luna simply glanced at it and then put the Building Stone away.

”Sir, I’ll handle the Sacred Artifact matters first.”

Seeing that Gu Xi didn’t take out anything else, Luna quickly said.

”Alright, I’ll wait here for you, be quick.”

Luna gave a knowing nod and floated away again.

Meanwhile, Kane was at the pier with a few of his Zombies clearing the bodies of the strange Coral People.

Seeing Gu Xi disembark, Kane quickly asked, ”Sir, what do you plan to do with these bodies?”

”Is there anything unusual about these bodies?”

Gu Xi, glancing at the bodies that had turned into various colors of coral, was somewhat curious.

”These bodies are quite good herbs. Different colors have different Traits. If you don’t need them, I’ll store them as herbs.”

Upon hearing Kane’s words, Gu Xi lost interest.

”Herbs, huh? Store them for now. I seem to have a blueprint for a Grave Herb Garden. Let’s see if these corals can be grown as herbs then.”

Kane had no objections to Gu Xi’s order.

”Rest assured, sir, I’ll store all the herbs properly, it’s my main job anyway.”

During the conversation with Kane, one of Kane’s subordinates suddenly dragged something over.

Spotting Gu Xi standing next to Kane, the subordinate hesitated, unsure whether to give the item to Kane or Gu Xi.

”I can’t appraise it, let Kane take a look.”

Gu Xi immediately saw the Zombie’s hesitation and stepped aside.

However, he couldn’t resist glancing over, curious about what the Zombie had found that required Kane’s appraisal.

Taking the item, Kane found it to be a rusty Short Knife.

Frowning, Kane had expected the Zombies to find a weapon. Although this weapon was better than what the Zombies currently used, they guarded the Wharf Warehouse and did hard labor; they weren’t expected to fight.

What use was a rusty Short Knife?

Observing more closely, Kane sensed something was off; this Short Knife seemed to have a secret.

”What’s this?” Kane wiped the Short Knife with his hand, discovering something, then turned to Gu Xi, ”Sir, take a look.”

Surprised that he had something to do even as a bystander, Gu Xi took the Short Knife and found it to be a quest item.

[Ding! You’ve discovered a quest item, activating a temporary mission!]

[Temporary Mission: Map Carved on the Blade]

[Mission Description: Open the hidden chamber and kill the Guardian inside!]

[Mission Requirements: Open the hidden chamber (0/1), Kill the Guardian (0/1)]

[Mission Rewards: Chamber Treasure Chest (level based on chamber level).]

[Note 1: The blade bears a map; stab it wherever you suspect a chamber might be.]

[Note 2: Chambers are always found in enemy territories, and sometimes a chamber can bring unexpected surprises.]

”This is quite interesting.”

Gu Xi’s findings at the Mysterious Pier today were indeed plentiful.

But with so many temporary quests, they could hardly hold Gu Xi’s attention now.

However, not one to dismiss Kane’s goodwill, Gu Xi patted Kane’s shoulder and said.

”Alright, I’ll take this Short Knife. If you come across more quests like these, put them in the Warehouse to see if anyone wants to take them up.”

”Rest assured, sir, I know how to handle it.”

Just then, another voice echoed in Gu Xi’s ears.

[Sacred Artifact - Sword of Courage has been placed in Yalidov City, granting all Bosses, Heroes, and Leaders within the city a permanent +3 Attack Power.]

[You’ve been affected by the Sword of Courage, gaining a permanent +3 Attack Power.]
