Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 121: Chapter 119: Battlefield Spoils

Like the white-haired warrior, the red-skinned monster with horns on its head was also torn in two by the Death Incarnation.

This creature’s body revealed no places for storing items, except for a single piece of white baboon skin that served as a modesty cloth around its waist.

Once that piece of white baboon skin was removed, its whole body only consisted of usable flesh and blood.

Gu Xi dismantled the red-skinned monster’s corpse as he did the One-Eyed Sewn-together Corpse before.

However, unlike the One-Eyed Sewn-together Corpse, the monster in front of him clearly had a unified body.

Gu Xi spent a considerable amount of time to completely disassemble this monster, extracting the curved horned skull, a spine nearly five meters long, a pair of steel-transformed arms, and a half-human-sized red heart with a lump of magma-like fat.

The remaining flesh and bones were useless and were dragged back to Yalidu City by the skeletons to be buried in the Evil Church as a source of Yin Qi.

The dismantled parts were all of blue quality, suggesting that the monster had indeed been crafting its body as a weapon.

[Other Ghost Skull (Blue): The skull from a powerful Otherworldly Ghost Boss, huge and hard, usable for making shields or defense-type armor.]

[Twisted Spine (Blue): A spine from a powerful Otherworldly Ghost Boss, each joint automatically twists and contorts, usable for crafting weapons like two-handed swords, long whips, or long spears.]

[Steel Arms (Blue): A pair of massive arms from a powerful Otherworldly Ghost Boss, usable for creating giant Sewn Corpses or extracting metal.]

[Magic Power Heart (Blue): A heart powered by magma and magic that provides the user with significant mobility.]

[Magma Blood (Blue): Blood transformed into magma, containing abundant heat and magic, usable for enhancing machinery or siege weapons.]

Seeing the dismantled items, Gu Xi let out a long sigh.

Gu Xi had put a substantial amount of effort into dismantling these materials.

Now that these items were dismantled, Gu Xi didn’t know how to proceed with them.

He waved to the Death Incarnation spinning in the sky, which then landed before Gu Xi.

”See if there’s anything you want.”

Gu Xi clearly recalled that previously the Death Incarnation had consumed the eye of the One-Eyed Sewn-together Corpse, gaining the ability to use Melting Light.

With no idea how to use the current materials, he simply asked the Death Incarnation if it needed anything.

The Death Incarnation glanced at the materials, transformed into black mist and ensnared the Steel Arms, pulling them into the mist.

Then the Death Incarnation flew into the sky, and Gu Xi observed that the massive Steel Arms were torn into pieces within the mist, yet the fragments didn’t fall, seemingly absorbed into the mist.

Occasionally, as the Death Incarnation peeked from the mist, one could notice a new metallic sheen on its black surface.

It seemed like the Death Incarnation was metallizing its body.

Gu Xi had to admit that the Death Incarnation’s approach was a wise one.

But it only took one material, leaving the rest unused.

Gu Xi involuntarily turned his gaze to the Evil Coffin.

”Why don’t you take one and see if you can upgrade it to blue quality?”

The Evil Coffin, upon arriving next to Gu Xi, looked at the materials but showed no reaction.

”What, not interested?”

”It’s not uninterested, it just can’t devour them,” Du Wushuang explained, noticing Gu Xi’s actions.

”You are an Undead Mage and might not have studied Mount Riding. To upgrade a mount from white to green, it only needs to consume green quality materials.

But upgrading from green to blue involves a transitional stage called green+1 quality.

If you give it blue quality materials directly, it can’t digest them now.”

”Oh! Is that a thing?” Gu Xi asked, puzzled.

”Of course, Undead Mages unlike us Death Knights don’t have specialized mounts, so there’s no need to learn it specifically, it only comes up when encountered,” Du Wushuang explained. ”Put these away; keep the heart and the blood, one for upgrading the Evil Coffin to blue, the other for blue+1.

As for the remaining skull and spine, after this battle, you can take them to the blacksmith shop and have the blacksmith forge a shield and a long whip for you.

Though they may end up being blue quality, their power will certainly not be weak.”

Gu Xi found Du Wushuang’s suggestion tempting.

”Is the blacksmith shop open to outsiders here?”

”Of course, not only open to outsiders but also offers self-service to all Chaoyang Radiance Guild members; anyone can use it freely. However, the two materials you forge from might serve primarily defensive or physical attack purposes, which may not be useful to you.”

”No problem, as an Undead Mage, I have contracted many Undead, so making equipment for my contracted Undead is fine as well.

I plan to activate my Talent and push to Level 5, then I can contract another Undead. I’ll pick a bigger one and directly equip it with these items.”

Du Wushuang actually felt a bit envious of Gu Xi’s idea.

Despite being a Death Knight for years, Du Wushuang had neither sufficient levels nor gear.

He struggled to get a full-body heavy armor set that didn’t even fit well.

Yet Gu Xi was already considering outfitting his contracted Undead with weapons.

The difference in their situations was really worlds apart.

But envy aside, Du Wushuang had no intention of seizing Gu Xi’s things.

After all, he had witnessed Gu Xi’s combat power; not to mention, the rotating Death Incarnation in the sky alone could suppress any dissent.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi turned his attention to handling the skeletal warhorse of the Headless Knight.

This skeletal warhorse was surprisingly a decent mount.

[Skeleton Warhorse (Green+1, Mount): Undead Element player and hero mount, movement speed of 120 km/h, seats one, capable of charging.]

However, Gu Xi noted that the warhorse wasn’t the greatest gain; he discovered a skullcap in the skeletal warhorse’s saddle, which was the real prize.

[Headless Knight Training Manual (Purple): Death Knight promotion manual, learning condition: Level 5 Death Knight. Upon study, can promote to special profession Headless Knight.]
