Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 132: Chapter 130: Forging Weapons

Putting away the last of the items, Gu Xi left the tavern’s vicinity with Du Wushuang before the Death Incarnation dissipated.

All along the way, Du Wushuang chirped away, having no objection to Gu Xi’s choice, just feeling a bit surprised that such distressing matters would occur within the guild.

She could also see that without Gu Xi, Liu Kai would definitely be kept firmly at Level 4 by his brother. Even with potential, it would be useless, as being stuck at one point meant blocking Liu Kai’s path forward.

No wonder Liu Kai seized the opportunity and swallowed all the magic potions on the spot even if it meant risking his life.

He understood that if he didn’t consume those potions on the spot, they would surely face all sorts of problems on the way back due to being unidentified.

”These things happen often. I’ve seen similar situations back in the academy, which is why I prefer the Undead; at least the Undead won’t betray you.”

Gu Xi merely shrugged at Du Wushuang’s words, having seen such things too many times.

Soon, these matters were brushed aside by Gu Xi, and he even nearly forgot about the map to find the Tree of Wisdom.

They quickly arrived near the Blacksmith Shop.

As Du Wushuang mentioned, after the big battle, most players chose to first visit the Blacksmith Shop to repair their equipment damaged during the fight.

And only afterward would they handle other matters.

Arriving now, the crowd within the Blacksmith Shop had thinned out considerably.

There weren’t many people dealing with equipment in front of the always-aligned furnace and anvil inside the shop.

A burly man with broad shoulders was sitting in front of the furnace, sipping something greenish, and didn’t even lift his head when he saw Gu Xi and the others enter.

This was the Master Blacksmith from the Scattered Immortal Garden, Level 5, with all his experience poured into blacksmithing. His combat power was unknown, but his blacksmithing skills were definitely not weak.

”Master, are you free? I’m looking to forge a weapon.”

Upon coming before the blacksmith, Gu Xi spoke courteously.

Hearing Gu Xi’s address, a pleased smile appeared on the blacksmith’s face.

”Don’t call me Master, I’m just Level 5, not worthy of such a title.”

But his demeanor clearly indicated he liked the flattery and wanted more.

”Isn’t it being modest, though? I brought many materials not from this world specifically to find a master to forge a unique weapon. What does this mean? It means the master’s reputation has already spread to other worlds.”

Gu Xi’s words smoothly complimented him.

In truth, he hadn’t even heard of a place called Scattered Immortal Garden before entering this world, let alone a blacksmith within it.

Nonetheless, the blacksmith was quite delighted to hear it. ”Am I that famous already? Nice young fellow, you’re an Undead Mage, right? What kind of weapon do you want? A dagger? A magic staff? A scythe? Or perhaps an Eastern-style mourning stick?”

”I want a long magic staff. What materials would it require?”

”For a long magic staff, you need a decent staff body first, followed by a staff head. Let’s do this, take out all the materials you have, and I’ll take a look to see what can be designed.”

With the flattery hitting just right, the blacksmith was quite accommodating, willing to first look at the materials Gu Xi had before considering how to craft the magic staff.

But he also added, ”Do take note; in weapons, I’m best at crafting long spears and broadswords and also quite adept at scythes. I can only say I’m capable of making magic staffs, so you’ll need to think it over wisely.”

Gu Xi understood the blacksmith’s point, realizing that it was usually Death Knights who frequently came to craft weapons, as Undead Mages didn’t have a large consumption of weapons.

While nodding, Gu Xi began pulling out materials.

The first item he took out was a [Heaven-Reaching Pea].

Seeing Gu Xi take out a tiny seed, the blacksmith was somewhat surprised.

”A seed? It’s an ideal material for crafting long-handled weapons; it can also be used for crafting a magic staff. I see, but you can’t plant it here; planting it here would be a waste. What kind of Undead Mage are you? Undead Calamity? Plague? Curse?”

”Undead Calamity, with Corpse Burst added.”

”Oh, I know the Master of Manipulation, then I know how to enhance it. Hey, Lao Liu, go to the back warehouse and push out the Flesh Grinding Disc.”

The blacksmith pointed for a disciple to get to work, then began playing with the [Heaven-Reaching Pea].

”This is good stuff; wait to make the main body of the magic staff entirely from it, but can I keep the extra branches and leaves?”

”Of course.”

Gu Xi didn’t know what use the pea’s leaves had, so if the blacksmith wanted them, he was happy to oblige and improve their rapport.

”That’s great. By the way, for your magic staff, with just this stick, you’ll need a gem or magic source, plus ideally a metal piece and some decorative materials.

The more materials aren’t always better; it’s all about compatibility. Check to see if you have anything suitable.

If not, we have good materials in the warehouse, just that they are somewhat expensive.”

As they talked, the disciple named Lao Liu had already pushed out a rusty press machine.

Below this press machine was some dried flesh.

”Put the seed in.”

Gu Xi hurriedly placed the [Heaven-Reaching Pea] into the flesh.

The moment the seed was buried, a green light shone, and the seed quickly began to take root and sprout, climbing upwards.

Neither Gu Xi nor the blacksmith paid attention to the vine’s growth process but just observed from the sidelines.

However, Gu Xi focused on the changes during the growth of the Heaven-Reaching Pea, while the blacksmith focused on the vine’s length and toughness.

”This is a very nice material. Your pea vine is quite suitable for making a magic staff. Making a long-handled weapon might be a bit bent, and wielding it would be quite challenging if one isn’t strong enough.”

While speaking, the vine had already grown to about three meters. The blacksmith then asked, ”How long do you want your magic staff to be?”

”Just over two meters will do.”

”Then it’s now.”

The blacksmith stepped forward and forcefully snapped the three-meter pea vine right on the spot.

Then he explained to Gu Xi: ”As your pea grows, there are three key points. One is now, when it has grown to three meters, all the essence is concentrated in the pea vine, making the material at its best.

If you miss this opportunity, when the vine grows past three meters, you can’t cut it anymore. You’ll have to wait until the vine is as thick as an arm before harvesting and peeling the outer layer to leave the inner vine core.

This is the most resilient part, suitable for making long-handled weapons.

The final stage is when the vine reaches the top, where all other parts are unusable, except for the tender shoots hanging from above, which are the best materials for making long whips and similar weapons.”
