Chapter 1541: Oscar

”Stop!”

Josephine hurriedly reacted to that voice. She turned around while trying to release her energy, realizing that there was someone who had been hiding his power the whole time.

She could sense a threat coming from this guy, but for some reason, the spiritual energy that was supposed to come out of her body dispersed.

”!!!” Josephine widened her eyes in shock. ʼWhat? My energy?ʼ

Josephine tried to release it again but to no avail. It was as if the spiritual energy had refused to obey her command.

There was only one person who had such a unique ability.

When she raised her vision, her doubt was answered. ”Demon Banner Armyʼs Commander, Oscar?”

That was right. Oscar had finally come.

”This is the end of you, Arbiter Josephine. You have done a lot of bad things, and itʼs time for you to pay the price,” stated Oscar.

Josephine gritted her teeth. How could such a thing happen?

Oscar didnʼt predict this outcome either. The one who made this plan was none other than Noel.

…

Two weeks ago.

”Iʼm planning to start an expedition deep into the demon territory. We have to crush the supreme devil and whatever demons are standing in our way.” Noel visited Oscar secretly.

Oscar didnʼt expect that someone who had been exiled to his army a few years ago had become a spirit king. And the kid was sitting in front of him.

”I am aware that if the demons attack, ancient demons will most likely come as well. And these ancient demons will pick up demons along the way. So, your plan is to destroy them so that they wonʼt be able to pick up any demons along the way. And to do that, you need my Demon Banner Army.”

”Actually not.” Noel shook his head.

”Hmm? Have you grown so strong that you can disregard the Demon Banner Army? As someone who was a part of this army a few years ago, you should be aware that the Demon Banner Armyʼs strength was something that shouldnʼt be underestimated.”

”You are wrong about one thing. I have never underestimated the Demon Banner Army. However, I need to ask you, Commander. Who among the enemies is the most dangerous? Is it the demon king? Is it the supreme devil?”

Oscar looked down, contemplating. The supreme devil had wreaked havoc on this land for so long. He was annoying, but he managed just fine. The third prince or the demon king, was indeed extraordinary, but he had been beaten by Noel as well.

However, a name came to his mind. There was someone among the enemy who had been much more annoying than the supreme devil and had been standing in their way of accomplishing a complete victory.

”Space Arbiter, Josephine. I see. This expedition is not meant for the demon king or the supreme devil. You are aiming for Josephine.”

Noel smiled. ”Thatʼs right. She is my target this time. As long as Josephine is there, fighting the demons will become very complicated. Her power can send demons to an unexpected place. She might even send it to the royal capital, which makes it vulnerable.”

”Thatʼs why you want to target Josephine. However, Josephine might not be the strongest among the arbiters, but she is certainly undefeated.”

”Correct. Josephineʼs abilities might not be suitable for combat, but even if she is besieged by all arbiters at once, she still can escape. Thatʼs why…”

”...You need me.” Oscar realized the request this time was for him, not for the Demon Banner Army. ”But I still need a justification.”

”Of course. This is the expedition to kill the demons, and thatʼs what people will tell you. So, wonʼt it be weird if this expedition doesnʼt bring the Demon Banner Army, whose job is to fight those demons?”

”So, what is your plan?”

”In defense, I donʼt think Iʼm better than you, but currently, we are on the offense.” Noel raised one finger. ”So, I suggest you send all the Zero squads you have. The Zero Squad, even with all divisions combined, might not reach 300 people, but each of them are elites. Their strength is beyond what a normal army of 5,000 people can do. I will adjust my speed for you to sneak out.”

”Sneak out?” Oscar frowned. ”This expedition is the most watched expedition. They will be monitoring my every move.”

”That might be the case, except…” Noel grinned. ”You had been doing this before the expedition even started!”

”!!!” Oscar definitely didnʼt think of this idea. If he sneaked them out one by one, he should be able to do it secretly.

”The Zero Squad is a secret squad because it is the most elite squad, so it wonʼt be a problem if it is dispatched to the demon territory. And by carefully sending them, you will be able to gather them. And use the remaining squads to circle around to create a fortified defense to make people think you are doing something for defense, not offense.”

Oscar nodded. ”And once everything is set, we will make a move. I have one request though.”

”And that is…”

”The Demon Banner Army will execute the traitor publicly. I will take full responsibility for her escort as well.”

”Do whatever you want.” Noel didnʼt hesitate to give it to him. This was a big matter, so Oscar didnʼt expect Noel to agree because the most reasonable option was to kill her the moment they got a chance.

Nevertheless, since Noel agreed, he shouldnʼt say anything that might change his mind. ”Fine. I will work with you, Noel Ardagan.”

Noel simply smiled.

…

After sealing her ability, ten figures appeared next to him. Josephine couldnʼt help but widen his eyes, recognizing each face. All of them were not nameless mobs. Each individual was a captain in the Demon Banner Army.

In other words, Oscar brought two-thirds of his captains, basically rendering the defense useless. But the defense fortification he made was not an empty threat. It was a real fortification that, even without their captains present, they could hold off any threat.

”Shale, you are in charge of the Attack Squad. Kill all the demons in this place. Squart, you are in charge of the defense. Set up a perimeter and make sure no demons manage to escape. Clara, provide any support to them or all the armies fighting here. The rest of the squad captains will stand here and make sure this traitor doesnʼt escape.

”If there is any slight fluctuation of spiritual energy, you may execute her on the spot,” stated Oscar in a stern voice. He looked up as if staring at the battle behind the hill. ”I have to… play my role as the commander of the Demon Banner Army.”
