Chapter 1526: Suspicion

Anna used her fastest speed to head to the Beast Kingdom. Obviously, she had to sneak inside because not many people knew about her. Their biggest connection was with the elders.

Fortunately, she had already known the way, so she headed straight to their capital city, where the elder council was hidden.

The moment she reached the council, she was surprised to find Old Ru already waiting for her.

”Mhmmm? Old Ru?” Anna raised her eyebrows. Old Ru was truly standing in front of the councilʼs building.

”You have finally arrived.” Old Ru smiled.

”Have you been waiting for me?”

”I have foreseen your arrival.” Old Ru nodded, telling her he had already known everything. ”Come inside. Someone would like to meet you.”

”...” Anna paused for a moment before following Old Ru.

The person who had been waiting for him was none other than the ruler of the Beast Kingdom, the lion king.

Even though he didnʼt have the greatest strength, royal blood flowed in him.

”Your Majesty.” Anna nodded politely as a greeting.

”Miss Anna. Welcome to the Beast Kingdom. Itʼs unfortunate that I canʼt give you a grand welcome.”

”Not at all.” Anna shook her head.

”Iʼm aware of what youʼre doing right now. So, I will skip the pleasantries. Right now, everyone is in danger.”

”Danger? What do you mean?”

Old Ru stepped forward, explaining everything. ”Several months ago, there was a movement from further north. We have been trying to figure out the situation over there, but it always comes back with nothing.

”We donʼt know whatʼs going on, so the elders are currently investigating the north.

”Itʼs extremely weird, but the problem is…” Old Ru paused for a moment. His face was filled with sadness.

”Whatʼs wrong? Whatʼs the problem?” Anna felt something amiss.

”One of the seven elders, Gluttony, has passed away.”

”!!!” Anna widened her eyes in shock. ”What do you mean by passing away?”

From her memory, Gluttony might not be the healthiest-looking person, but she doubted that a simple illness could take his life away.

In other words, something must have happened to him.

”He was one of the first people who went to the north to investigate. However, he returned by himself, his body fully covered in injuries.

Without being able to say anything, he fell unconscious and into a coma. Unfortunately, we failed to save him even doing everything we could.

”He is a spirit transcendence, right?” As expected, it was because of an injury. But Gluttony was one of the spirit transcendence rank experts in the Beast Kingdom. Even if he couldnʼt defeat the opponent, he should have been able to run away.

He managed to run away, but he ended up passing away because of the injuries without being able to say anything.

Originally, he thought that Gluttony had been attacked by the supreme devil and the third prince, which resulted in them recalling Melissa to investigate.

But it looked like the situation was not as simple as she originally thought.

There was something that could injure Gluttony to that point. There were only two beings who could do it. They either had the same situation as the supreme devil or it might be a demon king.

The moment she thought about the second possibility, she felt chills down her spine.

What if the third prince, who was also a demon king, already knew of Noelʼs expedition after his defeat? What if the demon king planned something else during this expedition?

And this expedition might involve another demon king.

Ardagan had confirmed the existence of another demon king in the battle one thousand years ago.

Alexander Ardagan had to face two demon kings: the Land Demon King and the Sky Demon King.

”According to the manuscript from a thousand years ago.” The Lion King opened his mouth. ”The Great General, Alexander Ardagan, defeated the demon king, but before he could kill him, another demon king appeared.

”Because of the appearance of a different demon king, the Great General failed to kill the demon king and was forced to retreat because of the other demon king.

”Unlike any other manuscripts, this one came from the diary of the Lion King. He revealed what had happened one thousand years ago without any filter, unlike humans, who glorified their achievements and made people believe that they had won at that time.

”What actually happened was a draw. After fighting two demon kings, the Great General didnʼt have enough power to kill the two demon kings, and vice versa.

”I had to recall the Arctic Queen because I needed her to investigate the entire situation. Her control was much more suitable for a detailed investigation. In addition, the north is much colder than here.

”To avoid any more casualties, the Venom Overlord, the Phantom, and the Vampire accompanied her, including several tribe kings.

”Only the Prophet and the Vampire remain here. Thatʼs why itʼs unfortunate… Even though I know youʼre coming to ask for assistance, Iʼm unable to fulfill that promise.” The Lion King lowered his head.

”...” It was indeed disappointing, especially since they had promised to fight together.

However, if this news about the demon king was true, the entire scenario would change.

ʼThis might be it… The Sky Demon King is somewhere in the north, and it might also target us after the Land Demon King asked for help.

ʼIf the two demon kings joined hands, especially after the Land Demon King recovered its full power…ʼ

Anna didnʼt expect this scenario. There would be two demon kings. But what made it worse was the appearance of the Supreme Devil.

He was a traitor, but what if the supreme devil managed to reach the level he had been pursuing for the last one thousand years?

In other words, they would have to face three demon kings at the same time. This was why Anna realized how crucial it was for her to become a spirit king as well.

Although the Beast Kingdom couldnʼt lend any troops, they could help with something else.

Annaʼs expression turned solemn. ”I have a request.”
