Chapter 1529: About to Arrive

Noel stood in front of the three division leaders.

”According to the scout, we’re assuming that the enemy is somewhere in this area. This is the best place to be used as their headquarters.

”First of all, there is natural terrain. While it can be disregarded by our airship, it will be hard for anyone to reach this place.

”Besides, we have noticed that there’s a sharp increase in the number of demons around this area. Since they protect themselves with demons, they will most likely use these demons to protect themselves,” explained Rui.

Noel examined the map on the table before raising his vision to look at the three captains.

The captain in the middle was none other than the captain of the first squad. After Grandel became the new Pillar of Defense, the position had been opened.

The one who took it was none other than Abel, the former third division’s captain. He was the first person who challenged Noel.

At that time, he was like a blazing fire that wanted to challenge the strong ones. After the sparring, that fire calmed down and became so stable that even wind wouldn’t extinguish it.

He definitely looked like a proper captain now.

The one next to him was a woman in her early thirties. Due to Abel’s promotion to the first squad, she, too, received a promotion to take over his position. She was known as Ophelia.

On the other side, a man whose age was similar to Abel’s crossed his arms. Unlike the others, he was the one defending the outer border of the Ardagan family.

That was right. Noel had a defensive system that split the territory into inner and outer areas. The outer area was the outermost layer of the territory, which was under construction. The inner area was basically the reinforced area that contained the few main cities. It was the heart of the territory.

Lucas was the captain of the squad that guarded the territory directly against the demons. In other words, among these people, he probably had the most experience.

Still, unlike the Golden Dawn’s garrison, he wasn’t equipped with a lot of technology, so he wasn’t the one in charge of the main ship this time. The one in charge was Abel.

”What do you three think?” Noel asked.

Ophelia hurriedly answered, ”I believe we should focus on fighting them from the sky. We will bypass the entire terrain and ambush them. Because this operation relies on speed, it’s better to strike right away.”

Lucas took a bit more time before pointing to one spot. ”Here. There should be land big enough for us to disembark. While it’s true that speed is the key to this operation, it will be useless if the soldiers can’t do anything because they are on the airship.

”If we can disembark here, we can advance forward. According to the map, this route should be big enough to make haste. It’s something that can’t be reached unless you drop the soldiers with an airship. But thanks to it, we open a new possibility.”

Ophelia couldn’t help but fall silent, realizing she had made a mistake.

They then turned to Abel, wondering what he had in mind.

”My lord. How about we charge head-on?”

”A-Abel? What the hell are you talking about?” Ophelia widened her eyes. Even Lucas was dumbfounded.

”Interesting.” Noel smiled, which made it even more unexpected. ”Elaborate.”

”If we attack head-on, the demons will definitely try to stop us, and the people will know we’re coming for them. The same can be applied to both of their plans. Since the enemy will know we’re coming, why don’t we just show ourselves?

”Besides, we have the right and the left wings. They will definitely pincer the incoming demons, allowing us to pick up our speed.”

Noel closed his eyes for a moment before raising two fingers. ”There are two problems in your plan. The first is that the original objective this time is to destroy their headquarters and kill as many people as possible.

”By using your plan, they will be able to get away while the demons surround us.

”At the same time, the enemy can launch an all-out assault, and the loss will be enormous. Right now, we not only have to destroy them, but we also have to conserve our numbers, assuming a demon invasion much bigger than anything we have seen will come again.”

”...” Abel couldn’t refute his points.

However, he couldn’t see any other plans that allowed them to achieve those objectives.

”I’m satisfied that you’re able to reach this conclusion, that’s why we will be using all your suggestions at the same time.”

”!!!” The three captains were dumbstruck. ”My lord?”

”However, instead of the vanguard, the role of the first division is to become the bait. You will charge head-on as if you want to lure the enemy. Do you know what it means to be the first squad? The first squad is the strongest squad in the Ardagan family. In other words, they’re the toughest.

”Then, Lucas will lead his division to enter the area from this spot and check whether the base is in this place or not. Speed is crucial here, so you have to be fast.

”Ophelia will remain and control all airships. Depending on the signal, you will need to assist people or even prepare an evacuation.

”This way, it will reduce the casualties. If it happens to be their base, they will most likely run. So, to prevent them from running...” Noel smiled before glancing at Rui.

”So, that’s how it is. I understand. I’ll go there as quickly as possible. Now that I think about it, the enemy still has that space element user. It’s no wonder you asked me to move, Master.” Rui nodded in understanding.

That was right. The enemy still had Josephine. The moment she used her portal, she could bring out many people at once. In fact, she could teleport even demons to bypass their formation.

Hence, Rui would be the key. He wanted to go as well, but Rui would most likely not accept it. And Khalid was here to observe his condition, so he couldn’t make a move unless it was necessary.

Little did Noel know, this expedition would lead to something even bigger than he could imagine.
