Chapter 1525: Advance

”Kill them!” The killing spree was the same for all four armies, including the one led by Conrad.

Conrad was astonished by the power of Rune Mage.

Their strength was tremendous, but the most terrifying thing was their support.

The rune mage could use their attacks to crush the enemy. It would be extremely effective against a human army, which usually marched in a formation.

But if the human army had a rune mage that boosted their abilities, the power of that single army changed drastically.

Thanks to Felicia’s unit, the vanguards, who consisted of normal humans, performed like they were the demons instead.

They crushed the low level demons so easily.

’To think that the rune mage holds this kind of possibility...’ Conrad had truly underestimated the rune mages.

’If the rune mage boosts the entire army, it will turn into an army of demons. But this time, they’re forming a formation, which makes them harder to defeat.

’A couple of rune mages will definitely change the outcome of the battle. And the effect is not limited to normal humans. Even spirit users are able to benefit from their support.

’From what I have heard, Noel Ardagan possesses an even stronger rune that can boost the entire army. That’s what happened with the Stargaze family’s army led by Dylan Stargaze.

’It was able to pierce through an army of demons like nobody’s business. If it’s the Demon Banner Army, the existence of a rune mage can practically change the outcome of a battle.

’This whole time, the support has always been those with elemental attacks or ranged weapons, but with the runes, their nature will change.

’Besides, thanks to the development of runes, more and more people can find a way to fight. The limitation on becoming a spirit user is no longer absolute, even though it’s still necessary.

’I see. A new era, huh?’ Conrad could see an era where people could fight for themselves. Thanks to this opportunity, he was able to know what kind of thing he had to convey to the current queen.

He hoped that Wendy was able to prepare for that era.

Conrad couldn’t help but glance at Felicia, who was observing the entire battle as though she were watching how the rune squad performed. In the end, this was a new squad, so she had to make adjustments to make them perfect.

But for Conrad, Felicia would be the leading figure of this era. Her name would be hailed as the first rune mage in history.

Felicia was once a failure among the people in the Tower Association because she didn’t have a spirit, and her power was limited. Her life changed completely after meeting Noel. He gave her a new path that was much more suitable for her.

In fact, Felicia looked like she was about to reach spirit grandmaster. The woman who people believed would never step onto that stage was about to become one.

’In the royal court, people are continuously plotting against each other. Meanwhile, in the north, Noel Ardagan is creating an environment for growth. Truly enviable.’ Conrad let out a long sigh.

If he had never sworn his loyalty to the throne, serving Noel might not be a bad idea. He wanted to see what kind of era Noel would bring to this world.

...

On the other side of the battlefield, Laufey had returned to the ship.

”There’s no suspicious movement for the time being. Most likely, we are still far away from them.”

The commander of this army was none other than Incetta. But to make sure she could become a perfect buffer, she needed an information network. So, Laufey had been assigned to her.

Incetta nodded with a solemn expression. ”Our lord only has one order. Because we’re aiming for the enemy’s base, there might be unexpected situations. It is up to us to control the situation.𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

”From the looks of it, the battle this time is far more dangerous than we imagine. Can you spread the scouting even further? Not just to our sides but to the front.”

”The front? Isn’t our position to become the buffer line?” Laufey didn’t expect the request.

As a buffer line, they should hold the lines and send reinforcement to either battlefield. That was why they were in a boat.

They didn’t burn as many resources and used less energy to come here. With the overwhelming armies on both sides, their army practically had nothing to do.

So, he thought this was to conserve their stamina so that they could move when it mattered the most.

Incetta nodded, confirming that their job was indeed as a buffer line.

”What makes you think that the buffer line can’t attack? What he means by the buffer line is not literal. What he wants is stability on both sides.

”If attacking the enemy can lead to that outcome, I’ll be more than happy to become the spear.” Incetta’s expression remained solemn. She had seen so many times how flexible Noel was.

As long as the goal was accomplished, he could do even the unthinkable.

Laufey paused for a moment. While he was Noel’s uncle, it was an identity he couldn’t proudly claim. Besides, the person before him was the commander of this army.

Laufey could only nod his head. ”I can stretch our scouts a bit more to the front.”

”Thank you.” Incetta didn’t expect people to have much respect for her. After all, she hadn’t done a lot of things for the territory.

Most of the time, she went around killing demons. Only a few people understood her sacrifice, especially why she became a spirit transcendence rank expert so quickly.

Laufey was one of the few people who received that information, so he thought it would be worth it to trust her a bit.

While the two armies advanced smoothly, the last army took an unexpected turn.

After getting a series of victories, the morale was extremely high.

Grandel had gained a bit of confidence as a commander.

”Thank you, Teacher.” Grandel politely bowed to Raven.

”No problem. You have the talent. As long as you don’t grow complacent, I’m sure you can do it in the future.”

”Yes...” He stopped, noticing Anna. ”Madam...”

Anna waved her hand. ”It looks like everything is proceeding smoothly.”

”Yes.” Grandel nodded furiously, while Raven added, ”If this continues, it looks like the expedition will be good training for the soldiers.”

”That’s good, but I have to leave the ship right now.”

”Pardon? Are you going to fight, Madam?” Grandel widened his eyes.

”No. I need to go somewhere, so watch over the army for me, will you? I will catch up soon.”

”What?”
