System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1533: Something Amiss

Noel was amused by the power. ”Whoa. You are the one using the Divine Slash now?”

[Yes. My body is the container of the system, while the scabbard is the container of the flame. What do you think about my heart?]

”Ah! Is it the container of spiritual energy?”

[Indeed. Don’t forget that while I am a spirit, my form is that of a magic sword. I am supposed to be able to handle spiritual energy myself.]

”Now that I think about it, unlike other spirits, you have a full form in this world.”

[That’s right. Hence, I should be able to use my spiritual energy. When my previous heart was used to weaken the demon king, I used the stored energy to slow it down, and when the spiritual energy was completely exhausted, it was the time the demon king woke up.]

Noel had heard about the heart being an alarm. So, that was the principle behind it.

[With this heart, I’m able to wield spiritual energy as well. This will supply your spiritual energy, allowing you to use a certain ability faster. Of course, if you use the ability in the same way, thanks to my new heart, that power will be amplified by at least 30%.]

”But won’t our energies be in conflict with each other?”

[Yes and no. Yes, it will have a conflict because Heisk’s energy will be included. There are two ways to fix it. First, you just have to pour Heisk’s energy into your attack, and I will pour mine. It will fuse before we let it out. Or you can just pour your energy, and I will amplify it.]

”Will the output be different?”

[No. The only difference is the way you use it.]

”Fair enough.” Noel nodded. Considering it was an icy flame versus the black flame, each power would result in a different result.

Noel raised his head, watching the movement on the mountain.

[In that case, shall we head in, Master? Usually, you would go straight in whether it was a bluff or not.]

Ardagan was telling the truth. Even if it was a bluff, the enemies would panic if they met him, knowing full well they couldn’t win.

It would be possible to take down one or two officers. No, if he had targeted Josephine, it would have been better.

Even though it would hurt him quite a bit, he could probably endure Anna’s lecture for a few hours.

But he had promised Anna before this expedition. If he pushed himself, Anna might break her promise as well.

Noel let out a long sigh before saying, ”We will stay here. Unless they come to me, I won’t come to them.”

[You said that, but you must be hoping they come to you so that you have enough justification to make a move.]

”...”

While Noel was in a dilemma, there were multiple reactions from multiple groups.

The first one came from the group outside the cave.

”This...” Lucas gasped. He had heard about Noel becoming a spirit king, but this was the first time he had seen a hill split into two so cleanly.

”This is our lord’s power?”

”Long live our lord!”

The people couldn’t help but cheer, knowing that as long as their lord was with them, they could win any fight.

Lucas couldn’t help but mutter, ”Well, it’s our duty to make sure that our lord doesn’t have to lift a finger. With just this one move, we already have to redraw the map of this area. If we let him fight to the fullest, the entire geography might have to change.”

Lucas shook his head and raised his weapon. ”All right, boys. Our lord has made his move. It’s our duty to finish what he started. Onward, kill anyone who resists! Grant, bring the elite team and cross over the gap to handle that side of the hill!”

”Oohh!” With soaring high morale, the soldiers advanced.

Inside the hill, Rui looked at the sides, watching how the mighty demon king and the supreme devil had thrown themselves to the side to avoid that attack earlier.

To her surprise, the only time they overreacted was when they avoided the sword strike.

Once it got out of the way, the two returned to her side as if they were not afraid of the spirit king.

”We have to capture her.”

”This is our time.”

The two joined hands to recapture the body.

”!!!” It surprised Rui. In the first place, they believed the supreme devil and the demon king would run away after knowing Noel was here.

After all, they couldn’t defeat Noel.

Even though Noel had been banned from overexerting himself, even Anna would probably understand there was no better time to kill them so that there wouldn’t be a need for another war in the future.

So, it was pretty sure that Noel would come. Despite that fact, the supreme devil and the demon king still continued as if they were treating Noel as if he didn’t exist.

’Something is wrong...’ Rui didn’t know what was wrong, but she could feel that the enemies had been waiting for this moment.

Hence, there was only one thing she could do.

”Light Transformation!”

The two also activated their powers, trying to suppress her.

However, Rui’s ability emphasized speed, so she first leaped toward the small gap between them before trying to go to the other side of the hill.

”You can’t go!”

”Stop!”

The two swung their blades, but Rui managed to go past them, albeit one of the two strikes was a step ahead.

”Kh.” Rui gritted her teeth as she launched herself outside and bounced from one side of the hill to the other multiple times to travel faster in the gap between the two hills.

The supreme devil and the demon king chased after her without hesitation despite noticing the amount of spiritual energy in front of them. It was clear that Noel was standing on this side, yet they didn’t say anything.

”You are not getting away!” The demon king waved his sword, unleashing a powerful strike toward her.

”!!!” Noel couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows. Even though they were stronger, he thought Rui wouldn’t be in such a miserable state. So, he swung his sword, his strike neutralizing the demon king’s attack.

Seeing Noel still standing on the same spot, Rui shouted at the top of her lungs, ”Master. Something is wrong! They are preparing something!”
