Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 795: Chapter 319: Reward Mission?

”Artificial data entity?!”

Brain Watering was stunned for a moment, scratched the back of his head, and unplugged and reinserted the ”Data Chip” to confirm he wasn’t seeing things.

Indeed, it wasn’t a hallucination.

Below each tombstone was a human-form data stream, exuding a faint golden glow only seen in members of the Turing Sect.

”This—”

The Cyber Era lasted nearly a hundred years, and before that was the Civilization Era.

And before the Civilization Era was the Age of Exploration.

Prior to the Age of Exploration was the medieval period of the Oudik Continent.

Terria was the Holy City of that era.

So, what’s the deal with these human-form data entities? In that era, there weren’t even Network Access Chambers or the first generation of Crystal Computers, right?

Could it be that this ”Namshabu” existed since the Middle Ages?

How incredibly ancient!

Brain Watering pondered as he moved forward. Suddenly, he stopped because there was someone standing in front of a tomb not far away.

Instinctively, he cast an investigation.

Name: Terria

Race: ??

Level: ??

Information Energy: ??

Skill: ??

Template: ??

Note: Don’t just stand there, run!

Seeing the string of red question marks and that slightly mocking note, Brain Watering’s eyelid twitched violently.

What the heck, isn’t this ridiculous? Randomly bumping into an NPC turns out to be a monster; even when I investigate a church district’s leader, I don’t get results like this.

Brain Watering, this Cyber Monk, was about to flee.

”Are you a member of the Turing Sect?” A calm voice echoed in his head.

Just from that moment, Brain Watering knew he couldn’t escape.

Hacker, Super Hacker!

His three-layer Brain-Machine Firewall was utterly useless! Baozi, you bastard, pay me back!

Brain Watering turned around stiffly, making fishhook gestures with his hands, forcing a smile, ”Are you also here to pilgrimage to the Holy City, senior?”

”No, I’m here to pay respects to a friend.”

”Oh, may I know who your friend is, senior?”

”Myself.”

”...”

Brain Watering looked down; it was an unnamed grave. According to the Holy City’s custom, if family members can’t be found to claim the deceased, or the identity of the deceased cannot be confirmed, a line is engraved on the tombstone—Child of Terria.

”Senior, are you from that era?”

Brain Watering was no longer nervous; after all, the respawn point was set on the ship, so he’d only be out for three days at most. He curiously sized up the other person, but no matter how he looked, he couldn’t make out the face.

The other person noticed his relaxed demeanor and, feeling some special emotion, was willing to say a bit more.

”I came out from here.”

”From the Age of Exploration, tsk, senior, you predate even those ancient folks emerging from cryo chambers! You’re practically an ancestor of ancient people!”

Brain Watering marveled, this era truly lets one encounter ancient people of all kinds, from a hundred years ago, even a thousand.

The corner of the man’s mouth curved up, seemingly finding this saying amusing.

”So how did you come out, senior?”

”It was you who buried me here, and you who awakened me.” The person calmly replied.

The ”you” he referred to was likely the Turing Sect.

”Religious sacrificial burial?” Brain Watering was stunned, then pursed his lips and said, ”I’m not fond of that.”

”I came willingly.”

”Uh, why?”

”To save my sister. In that era with scarce medicine, the only way to save someone was to exchange a life.”

”Was your sister saved?”

”I don’t know. During several religious reforms of the Turing Sect, a lot of your church’s records were deleted or altered; the original records can no longer be found.”

”That’s really unfortunate,” Brain Watering clicked his tongue, then with curiosity asked, ”Senior, you’ve been asleep for a thousand years and only recently awakened, or have you been awakened several times before?”

”I have been awakened several times, handled several missions for your Turing Sect, and explored the new world a few times. Oh, back then, you were not even called the Turing Sect.”

Brain Watering touched his chin, let out a soft ”hmm”, and said: ”Was the doctrine of that era so loose? It seems like you were quite free, senior.”

”It wasn’t this free at the start. Back then, your deity had complete control over me, and I couldn’t escape the language world until during a mission, I was infected by a peculiar ancient electronic virus. I survived the ordeal, reconstructing the balance within my body. After that, when you tried to drive me again, it had to be in a cooperative form.”

Looking at this somewhat quirky member of the Turing Sect before him, Terria pondered for a moment and said: ”Were you looking for something just now?”

Brain Watering was not shy, directly telling the other about the quest for the ’Holy Name’.

”I enjoyed our conversation, so I’ll give you a gift, young one.”

Then, Brain Watering felt a strong data fluctuation, and an intense radiance appeared in the sky. Within the light, a sacred gate appeared, outside of which ’data bodies’ ascended the steps. Judging by their linen godly robes, their faces were unclear, but their backs seemed familiar.

The other party didn’t waste words, turned his palm slightly, and in an instant, numerous cracking programs appeared. His cracking method didn’t resemble the common cracking software or antivirus guardians on the market, but rather seemed like piecing together numerous open-source antivirus software. Various real-time cracking plugins were at his fingertips, creating a unique sense of artistry.

Then, with his operation, the ’Holy Hall Gate’ slowly opened, and a ray of overflowing light fell on Brain Watering. The next moment, the system prompt sounded.

[You have received the Turing God’s favor, consciousness +20, acquired advanced neural language ’Namshabu’]

When Brain Watering regained his senses, the holy hall, the gate, and the figures all disappeared.

Even the other party vanished, leaving only a thick ancient book, suspended in mid-air.

[You have obtained the career transition item ’Eye Book’]

Brain Watering opened it, discovering the book was filled with lines and small circles he could not understand, resembling endless eyes.

”Could this be the legendary encounter?”

Brain Watering murmured to himself, never expecting things to go so smoothly this time.

Encountering an advanced NPC and receiving a transition item for free, could such a plot truly exist within this game?

Isn’t it going to charge?

With these thoughts in mind, Brain Watering returned with a complex mood to the outskirts of Terria, seeing fervent sect members directly leap into the water. Before long, corpses floated to the surface.

A water burial?

He saw several familiar figures, all Isaiah sect members who came with him, their faces bloated from the water, their expressions contorted yet bizarrely happy.

He suddenly thought of the figures of sect members he had just seen in front of the great gate.

”Damn, that’s some creepy stuff.”

As a player in the Turing faction, he often heard tales of AI bringing disasters and machines oppressing humans, which, in a way, wasn’t nonsense because that’s the situation in every Mechanical City.

But now, it seems that to handle an evil dragon, it’s often not a knight, but a fiercer evil dragon.

Training humans into a powerful ’antivirus software’ that ultimately kills themselves—now, isn’t that wicked?

Whatever, it’s none of my business, I’m just an undercover here, going back to complete my task.

...

[You have acquired professional knowledge [Isaiah Doctrine]]

[You have acquired professional knowledge [Wolm Manipulation]]

[You have acquired professional knowledge [Grayling Destruction]]

Soon, the ’Silver Zen’ player completed the transition while Gao Gong acquired the professional knowledge he needed, a win-win situation, or rather, a triple win with Brain Watering, the fake monk.

”Not bad, quite efficient. At this rate, before the Turing Divine Throne Ascension, I should have the complete knowledge.”

Gao Gong glanced at the alliance panel, seeing these three and the already illuminated [Electronic Rhapsody], [Information Worship], [Group Subconscious], [Information Frenzy], [Turing Language].

Just two more professional knowledge pieces, and the complete knowledge chain will be obtained.

’Ten professional knowledge, this professional knowledge chain is damn long.’

’But what can you do, when this thing can train in anti-mechanical demon techniques.’

Setting aside a few pure natural Information Civilizations, most are similar to ’Brain Domain Civilization’, started via machines, ’consciousness upload’, easily destroyed by professional machinery.

And ’Electronic Doctrine (Turing Mechanism)’ was born because of this, possessing a very special ability to evolve information to counter mechanical bodies.

So in Brain Domain Civilization, this is a core professional knowledge chain.

This technology was terrifying enough on its own, but after integrating the No. 3 Destruction Form, before the Memory Mother descends, this was the biggest bug.

How did it die again?

Gao Gong vaguely remembered it self-destructed.

After the Deep Net was destroyed, it mysteriously collapsed without warning.

Now it seems, it was most likely deeply corroded by the ’Memory Mother’.

”Minister, what are you thinking about?” Miss Ke’s voice sounded.

”Nothing, just thinking the air conditioning system here at the Shell Attack Center is quite good, it’s not hot at all outside.”

Looking at the high temperatures outside at the earth core, Gao Gong started spewing nonsense again.

”Minister, do you think, if I release you now, with your strength, could you survive in the high-temperature and high-pressure environment of the Earth Core?”

Miss Ke’s tone was as calm as always, just what she said was a bit scary.

”Actually, I was thinking about how Minister Aramaki would deal with the Turing God given that the No. 3 Destruction Form is particularly powerful, ruthless, and especially skilled at dealing with AI!”

Gao Gong finished his thoughts in one breath, nearly analyzing himself in a reading comprehension manner, fully showcasing his nature of being tough but not yielding.

”I see,” Miss Ke remained unfazed: ”Then please, Minister, quickly acquire the ’Punk Group’ information. After all, the cooling system here fluctuates, one moment working, another moment failing without warning.”
