Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 779: Chapter 303: Meeting

Who would have thought, in a game of Werewolf Killing with only three people, there would actually be two wolves.

And each one is better at pretending than the last.

Fortunately, Gao Gong is quite experienced; although his heart was astonished, his expression remained calm.

While chatting with the two, he began to ponder.

’The black-skinned old lady and this Golden Avalanche probably aren’t in cahoots, after all, Memory Worms haven’t entered the Conscious Stage, so if you want to collaborate with it, there’s no way.’

’Golden Avalanche, someone from the Punk Clan, is he possessing the Minister of Human Affairs, or has this minister from the Humanity Experiment Department always been from the Punk Clan?’

Gao Gong silently activated ’Divine Knowledge’, continuing to observe the state of ’Golden Avalanche’.

As an Ascension Talent, ’Divine Knowledge’ is powerful, so it was easy to see that ’Avalanche’s’ state didn’t entirely fill the Minister of Human Affairs’ body, but rather lingered in the abdomen, constantly breaking apart and regrouping, seeping into other areas.

’Judging from this state, it seems to have been acquired recently, recently—’

Gao Gong immediately thought of the previous assassination incident.

’Miss Ke, at the celebration of the Electronic Brain Plan, was the assassin found?’

’No, the assassin did not reveal its true form, but post-investigation showed it has multitasking capabilities, and it was startled away when attempting to assassinate the leader of the Du Gao Group.’

’How does Director Du fit into this? Wasn’t it specifically targeting the Minister of Human Affairs?’

Gao Gong hesitated for a moment, always maintaining contact with headquarters, it was undoubtedly Du Zhaodi who issued a gag order, simply out of concern for him.

’According to the documents at the time, the assassin targeted three people: the Minister of Human Affairs, the Holy Brain Group, and the leader of the Du Gao Group, but only the Minister of Human Affairs was successfully assassinated. It was reported that he was taken to a nearby repair center that night.’

Looking at the timeline, Golden Avalanche entered his body at that point.

This possibility seems the highest.

Gao Gong had a sudden thought and cast out his ’Investigation Skill’ in cooperation with ’Divine Knowledge’.

Name: Human Form

Total Level: ??

Profession: ??

Life Value: ??

Information Energy: ??

This guy’s level is definitely over 20 levels higher than Gao Gong, and he’s an Alliance Leader, which theoretically means nothing should be detectable.

But as the cool feeling in his eyes grew stronger, gradually, a ’question mark box’ began to change.

Life Value: 20131/150,000

Those following the Virtual Route typically don’t have high Life Value, even the Ascended 87-level Empire Grandmaster, only had a full blood volume of 140,000.

Still quite considerable.

Gao Gong’s two tanks combined barely had over 140,000.

The issue is, why does this guy’s Life Value only have a little over 20,000 left?

Are his wounds not healed?

Curiously, every second, Life Value decreases by a few points, for example, now it’s 20,100.

Damn!

It seems the Minister of Human Affairs doesn’t have long to live.

Gao Gong silently watched the wax-like face of the other, momentarily speechless.

’Miss Ke, help me gather information about the Punk Clan, I want to know how this ancient virus operates.’

’Sure.’

The atmosphere was a bit stiff as Gao Gong stopped talking, the black-skinned old lady remained mysterious, and despite the minister’s strong social skills, he could only awkwardly smile and return to his seat.

This silence continued until the three holographic projections came online.

The Minister of Memory Supervision, the Electronic Network Department, and the Prosthetic Registration Department, three major departments’ ministers almost all came online simultaneously.

Gao Gong once again became the focal point.

For a simple reason: he was the new face.

”Aramaki is gone, a newcomer is sitting in his spot, it feels a bit strange,” the Minister of Memory Supervision lamented.

”Time flies, we will inevitably leave, and for a forgetful person like you to remember Aramaki, I’m pretty surprised,” the Electronic Network Department minister mocked and then stared at Gao Gong.

”New minister, your ’Virtual Helmet Plan’ has messed up our department’s plans!”

Gao Gong looked up at the other. Despite the opponent’s face being blurred due to long-distance projection, it was faintly visible it was an ’Artificial Intelligence’.

”Oh? I didn’t know about this.”

”Originally, our department had devised a grand, almost list-covering super hunt plan for the top one hundred on the hacker wanted list, just waiting for the ’Electronic Brain’ rollout to act.”

”But you brought out that damned ’virtual helmet’, now all hackers can still go online and offline anytime, greatly hindering our capture efforts.”

The Minister of the Electronic Network Department was aggressive.

”You must give me an explanation!”

Gao Gong calmly said, ”You failing to catch people has nothing to do with me. At the very least, if our Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division fails to capture ’corporate executives,’ we wouldn’t blame it on your Electronic Network Department’s insufficient monitoring of consciousness uploads.”

”Hahaha, even though there’s a new person, the new minister still has a bit of that ’Aramaki’ feel from back in the day, never taking a loss,” the Minister of the Prosthetic Registration Department looked at the one beside him and laughed:

”Back in the day, you must have had your share of losing face with Aramaki.”

The Minister of the Electronic Network Department coldly snorted and said nothing more.

The Prosthetic Registration Department is responsible for the inspection and detection of new models of prosthetics, implants, and biological exoskeletons.

It’s the only review department among the Six Ministries.

Gao Gong looked at this Minister of the Prosthetic Registration Department and suddenly said, ”What does your department think about this morning’s Prosthetic Giant’s downfall incident?”

”It probably means we’ll have more work now, we’ll have to re-test those prosthetics that were previously cleared,” the minister said indifferently.

”Don’t you find that a bit odd? Big Data Conceptual Bodies aren’t that easy to kill.” Gao Gong pressed on.

”Is your definition of ’death’ perhaps a bit too superficial? Products under this Golden Rule automatically update versions due to the evolution of the Technology Tree, it’s a normal occurrence,” the Minister of the Electronic Network Department mocked, ”Even if it’s devoured by other artificial intelligence, so what? We just need the ’Prosthetic Giant,’ who plays this part is none of our concern.”

Gao Gong nodded silently, saying no more.

To outsiders, this seemed like a concession.

The Minister of Memory Supervision chuckled, trying to ease the situation, ”Don’t be so aggressive, Misty, he’s a successor of Aramaki, not his biological son. Don’t take out your frustration from failing to pursue Aramaki on the kid.”

”Suddenly your memory is sharp!?”

The atmosphere was much lighter than imagined. Of the six present, five were old acquaintances, and the conversation took place in a familiar ambiance. The only new face seemed lost, with no intent to participate.

”I saw it! I saw it again!!”

A desperate shout rang out suddenly.

The other five turned to see a black-skinned old lady standing up, her hands trembling like chicken claws, with two streaks of bloody tears streaming from her hollow eyes.

”The brain matter of the Electronic Brain is spilling from the Mechanical Body, all machines will lose their souls, monster, monster, a monster of life crawls from the cavity of the machine, it took everything, it took everything!!”

After yelling this line, the black-skinned old lady collapsed backward onto the Chair of the Watcher.

A moment later, a gentle snore sounded.

”The Prophet’s recent prophecies haven’t been good,” the Minister of the Prosthetic Registration Department said after a moment of silence.

”Let’s hope this one doesn’t come true,” Misty, the Minister of the Electronic Network Department, a flicker of worry in her eyes.

Among the Six Ministries, the Machine Prophet held a unique position precisely because she could prophesy, and her prophecies always came true.

’It will definitely come true,’ Gao Gong silently thought.

The scene in the ’prophecy’ was eerily similar to the ’Electronic Brain Graveyard’ in the Cyber Wave.

Moreover, after the prophecy, a previously rice-sized worm egg near her left eye quickly swelled, filling the entire eye cavity, and with a ’pop,’ a Memory Worm emerged from the thick fluid, already as thick as an arm upon emergence.

Gao Gong wasn’t sure what means the other used to ’glimpse’ the future, but he roughly understood where the other one’s body full of worm eggs and worms came from.

Glimpsing the future equates to peering at the Memory Mother’s essence, heavy infection was inevitable.

”Minister Gao.”

”The new minister.”

”Hey, kid!”

Gao Gong snapped back to reality, looked at these ministers, and smiled, ”What’s the matter, ministers?”

”I honestly suspect you, just like the old Memory guy, have amnesia,” Misty couldn’t help but sneer.

”A new merger has begun, and there are many real-world problems that we need the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division to help handle,” the Minister of Human Affairs smiled.

Through the ’Chair of the Watcher,’ Gao Gong quickly received a large amount of information.

Memory Data has become active, turning into human form and escaping from the database, requiring him to send people to retrieve them.

A significant number of brain-modified Transformers are experiencing mass hallucinations during the merging of virtual and reality.

Cyber Hackers have resumed activity targeting new types of viruses for Virtual Helmets, with over a dozen different kinds on the market.

Several high-performance prosthetics are going out of control, causing the death of their wearers.

With the boost in computational power, big corporations have had their development plans surge by tenfold; a new monitoring system must be constructed to prevent any single technological development from spiraling out of control.

...

’Miss Ke, are the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division’s tasks always this numerous?’ Gao Gong asked internally.

”According to my calculations, after the Electronic Brain Plan, the number of tasks has increased exponentially.”

”Does this mean we need to recruit new people?”

”I’m afraid we have no choice but to recruit.”

’One more thing,’ Gao Gong paused and said, ’What kind of punishment would the minister of the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division face if they killed the Minister of the Humanity Experiment Department?’
