Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 771: Chapter 295: The Unpredictability of Fate

This time, six people participated in the operation: Dida, Baozi, PP Head, Zhang, Brother Umbrella, and Sister Ji.

Brother Umbrella was a special case. He was controlled by that ’Weaving Machine,’ so he could only guide remotely and couldn’t participate directly.

So among the five, four were out, leaving just one——

’@Sister Ji, Sister Ji?’

’Where’s Sister Ji?’

’Sister Ji, are you still alive?’

’Something’s not right, I see she’s still online.’

After a good while, Sister Ji, who was being called out repeatedly, finally went online.

’Stop yelling, stop yelling, I’m still here’ Sister Ji

’You’re not dead, that’s unscientific. How are you not dead when you were at the explosion center?’ Baozi let out a wail of envy, jealousy, and resentment.

’A little unexpected situation?’

’I seem to be able to sense you’ Brother Umbrella, who had been lurking, suddenly popped up.

’Sense? Could there be an affair!?’ PP Head instinctively started to gossip.

’Pff, I’m determined to sleep with three thousand handsome men, how could I give up a whole forest for one big tree. Like Brother Umbrella, this cold-blooded killer... Yes, he’s one of my hobbies, @Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella, how about we date?’

’Stop rambling, get straight to the point, the point!’ Baozi was anxious and wanted to jump up.

’Okay, let me sort out the situation. Wasn’t I weaving a name for Brother Umbrella, and once I started, I couldn’t stop, it’s like I’ve completely connected with that ’Weaving Machine’. And after weaving the name, there was a strong sense of being devoured, I almost lost myself completely.’

’I’m sorry, I didn’t foresee this, I owe you a second favor,’ Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella.

’Brother Umbrella, don’t interrupt. By the way, I died at Level 4, how about owing me another favor?’ I Love Eating Buns

’Baozi, shut up!’ PP Head

’Baozi, shut up!’ Dida

’... In any case, when I was about to hang up, another super boss appeared, and the two bosses started fighting intensely, with big moves one after another. You all, oh, you were all dead then and couldn’t see it.’

’...’

’...’

’...’

’Wasn’t I being controlled by the Destiny Weaving Machine then? I could clearly feel that the ultimate boss of this Assassination Alliance had his power rapidly waning. Unable to hold on, he began drawing my strength, causing my level to drop 10 levels consecutively, falling back to Tier 1.’

’Sister Ji, I was wrong, you had it worse than us,’ Baozi replied.

’I’m not done yet. When I was in complete despair, I suddenly felt the power of this weaving machine being drawn away by another super big boss. Do you get what I mean?’

To explain in more detail, Sister Ji began posting some NSFW pictures again and again.

A handsome guy with not much clothing was being held in an inappropriate way by another handsome guy with not much clothing.

The guy doing the holding also had another handsome guy behind him in a similar embrace.

’That’s basically it. Originally it was just drawing from me. Now it’s being drawn away, which resulted in me being absorbed into the other’s body directly.’

’Not only did my level restore, but I also got a new profession as a ’Weaver of Fate.’ Oh, by the way, @Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella, I’m now your Alliance Leader of the Assassination Alliance.’

’...’ Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella.

’Envy, jealousy, hate’ I Love Eating Buns

’Envy, jealousy, hate +1’ PP Head

’Envy, jealousy, hate +2’ Sister Ji

’Envy, jealousy, hate +3’ I Always Love Zhang Aiping

’Hehe, my task list suddenly has a large alliance task ’Reorganize the Assassination Alliance.’ Remember to all come help, and I’ll give you some good tasks.’

’By the way, does anyone know what the ’No. 4 Destruction Form Carrier’ is? Why did such a thing appear on my personal panel?’

About half an hour later, Baozi closed the communication with a complex expression.

Who would’ve thought that after this mission, the biggest beneficiary would end up being Sister Ji!

Not only did she get a hidden profession, but she also got a task to build a large force!

Heaven pity it, he Baozi was the player who wanted to build a force the most.

Baozi vaguely felt that leveling up by fighting monsters didn’t seem that important, but building a force seemed to be the answer to this version.

’And, that mirror, was once again Mr. G!’ Baozi was feeling complicated.

The Mr. G Research Association, this Mr. G was very likely the same Mr. G from Nightless City.

And before he died, he had tried hard to see the ’super boss’s’ appearance, though not very clearly, but he could vaguely see that the facial contours of that ’super boss’ were quite similar to the one from Nightless City.

So, had he been manipulated by an NPC?

...

And in a separate villa on the Other Shore of Freedom, Gao Gong slowly opened his eyes.

It had been three days since he visited the ’Virtual 1’ building.

He didn’t follow the previous plan to go to work at the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division, even though ’Miss Ke’ had urged him more than once.

Ever since he sensed the preparations of several small players at the training center, over the past two days, he had been secretly spying, waiting for their actions.

Sure enough, just now, they made their move.

But the outcome was somewhat unexpected.

Neither the owner of ’Database 0’ nor ’Aramaki’ was all that surprising to Gao Gong.

The reason ’Aramaki’ finally mentioned as well.

Whatever fate offers, fate will reclaim.

Combining with the name ’No. 4 Destruction Form: Destiny Weaving Machine’, he could probably guess that this thing’s ability was akin to a wish machine; when the wisher makes a wish to ’shift destiny’, then at a future point, when the ’Destiny Weaving Machine’ requires, you must act unconditionally once.

And over the course of history, who knows how many destinies this ’Destiny Weaving Machine’ has shifted; even without the intervention of these two, there are likely other strong entities to act. So, the fact that he didn’t succeed isn’t much of a surprise.

There are two situations that truly surprised Gao Gong.

First, this ’No. 4 Destruction Form’ seems to easily abandon its ’shell’, unlike any other Destruction Form Gao Gong had seen before, such as Bionic A, Sister Rose, or Prometheus. They have all ’deeply integrated’, and unless the host dies, separation shouldn’t be so seamless.

Secondly, Aramaki turned out to be No. 6!

This is what truly shocked Gao Gong because, at their last meeting, he didn’t sense any aura of a Destruction Form from the other.

So, did he complete the integration during this period?

Gao Gong made a quick calculation, out of 13 Destruction Forms, about 5 are on his side.

If he completes Relic synthesis using himself as the ’Box’, these five should be manageable.

But the others, especially the top three, are quite a headache: one is the ’Second Personality’ of a Planet Host, one has turned into a ’Ghost Host’, and another is about to devour all ’Big Data Conceptual Bodies’ and become the nemesis of all Artificial Intelligence.

If they are not weakened, it’s nearly impossible to contain them.

Especially the latter two, which are among the major waves in all ’Cyber Tide’.

Thus, Gao Gong added another plan to his notebook.

Complete the collection of other ’Destruction Forms’ before the Cyber Tide enters its peak stage while trying to weaken the top three.

’Destiny Weaving Machine’ is a fine target.

Although its summoning ability is strong, its entity itself seems not strong enough.

At this point, Gao Gong still didn’t know that the host of the ’Destiny Weaving Machine’ actually became a player.

Gao Gong took out the spoils of war, which were a bunch of golden threads and a cluster of blue light.

He used a skill on the former.

Name: Destiny Threads

Category: Destiny Carrier

Quality: ??

Danger Level: ??

Weight: 0

Note: The reason for fate’s offering is because the giver needs redemption.

He juggled the blue light and performed another scan.

Name: Eco-Membrane

Category: Ecosystem

Quality: ??

Danger Level: ??

Weight: 0

Note: Environment nurtures ecology, civilization nourishes ecology, human nature protects ecology.

Gao Gong picked up a golden thread and injected Destructive Energy.

The golden thread started to extend forward.

In the next moment, a miraculous event occurred, and it was as if he had entered the perspective of a stranger to observe his life.

It was an ordinary mercenary, with tasks, transformations, fights, and rest, a monotonous and tedious cycle.

But upon closer inspection, there were many critical points, all with gifts from fate.

A severe injury during a mission; a slight tug from the destiny thread allowed him to escape the scythe of Death God.

A relapse of cyber psychosis; a Prosthetic Doctor friend had a sudden thought to drink at his house, coincidentally saving him.

Behind the doctor’s head was also a ’Destiny Thread’ that dragged him in this direction.

An enemy’s poisoning action; he suddenly had diarrhea and avoided eating anything, thus dodging a guaranteed kill.

This experience abruptly ended at the ’break point of the golden thread’.

”Miss Ke.”

”I’m here.”

”Please investigate this person for me.”

With a thought, Gao Gong saw a phantom of a mercenary before him: one-eyed, with mechanical transformations in his left arm and right leg, carrying two laser Samurai Swords on his back, looking formidable.

”Based on the investigation, 34 people worldwide match this image. Please provide necessary conditions for further filtering.”

Gao Gong recounted some events from the other’s ’past’.

”Filtering conditions, completed. Marubeni Technology Advanced Mercenary, Hai Ke, born in Cyber Era Year 31...”

Gao Gong matched the two sets of data, confirming the person in the Destiny Threads was indeed him.

”And what’s his status now?”

”According to internal data from Marubeni Technology, he was unfortunately killed by enemy attacks during a recent mission. Identity has been confirmed through the chip on his body.”

”Fate is unpredictable.”

Gao Gong murmured.
