Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 743: Chapter 268: The Fate of Old Friends

Ye the Big Lolita moved quickly.

Almost the next day, an old guy was packed up and taken away, directly brought to the ’Earth Element Breakthrough Machine’.

It was a large-scale Tier 3 Civilization Architecture of Du Gao Technology, externally appearing as a super iron sphere with a diameter of 30~40km. The surface of the iron sphere was equipped with countless retractable steel claws, slowly moving in the dim deep sea.

The upper echelon of Du Gao Technology, except those on missions, were mostly based here.

Its security was top-notch, not only with small ’Holy Trees’ planted on it, but also possessing Tier 3 Civilization Architecture ’Liquid Weapons Printer’, Tier 3 Civilization Architecture ’Prosthetic Manipulator’, and an entire ’Valkyrie Corps’.

Such defense can fend off any attack unless it’s encircled by more than 50 times the force, and if escape becomes impossible, the ’Earth Element Breakthrough Machine’ has one last resort — drilling into the earth’s core; dare to follow, and they might just blow up the planet.

This kind of place is only accessible to the most intimate strategic partners, even Ms. Qiao was visiting for the first time.

At this moment, Ms. Qiao was somewhat amazed at seeing the drainage system expel the incoming tens of tons of seawater, then the thick iron plates slowly closed, and the lights connected to the ’Holy Trees’ illuminated the space, revealing a small industrial world before her eyes.

”Surprised, right? I was also amazed when I first came here. Who would have thought Du Gao Technology had such secrets? No wonder outsiders can never find their headquarters,” Ye the Big Lolita patted her ’foster mother’s shoulder.

”Let’s go, let’s check the experiment situation.”

Walking through several iron doors, the two arrived at the Biological Research Center.

They were the second batch to arrive, while the first batch had already begun intensive biological research. The subject of the research was a shareholder of the ’Holy Brain Group’, someone who had undergone ’Holy Brain Surgery’.

”Tsk tsk, totally unexpected that your mercenary corps actually possesses such high-level biological equipment.”

The chief scientist of the Holy Brain Group looked enviously at such advanced biological equipment—

Biological Information Synthesizer, Genetic Space, Biological Weapons Transformation Hall, Biological Chip Manufacturing Hall, and centrally located that Tier 3 Civilization Architecture - Nest Repairer.

Who would have thought a small place would hold four Civilization Architectures, so lavish it’s beyond comprehension.

”How’s the progress?”

”Much smoother than expected, most importantly, with the help of those two, we soon dissected the guy’s ’brain’.”

Following the gaze of the chief biologist, Ye the Big Lolita saw the backs of two women, one tall and one short, her black eyes slightly squinted.

With her vision, she could fully sense the powerful spiritual power exuded from them, especially the short one, who gave her a feeling of a vast ocean, unfathomable.

”Who are these two——” Ye the Big Lolita pulled along an acquaintance.

”Them, oh, one is Lady Keramos, the other is Ms. Gang, they’re both old acquaintances of the Boss.”

”And that Ms. Gang, why does she look so much like her?”

Ye the Big Lolita turned her head, only to see the Little Woman angrily mopping the floor, along with some high-level executives, all looking quite dismal.

”Uh, well, it’s unspeakable, just say they have a very close relationship.”

”Then why are they mopping the floor?”

”That’s President Du’s idea, they seem to have committed some mistakes,” the person said with some schadenfreude.

Huang Yuanli suddenly exclaimed angrily, ”Why punish only people like us? Why isn’t that Gao punished? If it weren’t for his instigation, would we have turned into big trees?”

Daisila, supervising by the side, held back her laughter, ”Sister Du said this is the punishment for your brainless actions. As for Boss Gao, his punishment is already completed.”

”I didn’t see him wake up early to clean,” Huang Yuanli frowned in thought for a moment, suddenly realizing, ”Now I understand why Sister Du has been waking up so late these days. She usually works tirelessly for days without sleep, turns out that kid’s been sweet-talking her in bed.”

She also looked below, somewhat unwillingly, and said:

”Damn it, because of that thing he gets special treatment? I can have that too, I can also serve Sister Du.”

”Then you need to modify your body, at least fix your chest muscles,” said someone passing by.

The place erupted with laughter.

The Little Woman went after them angrily.

Ms. Qiao was taken aback, never had she witnessed such a relaxed atmosphere within the Holy Brain Group.

”Ms. Ye, Ms. Qiao, Lady Keramos requests your presence.”

Ye the Big Lolita entered the ’Nest Repairer’, taking a glance, saw the Holy Brain Group executive being researched had long been immersed in the repair chamber.

The tall lady, who was Lady Keramos, gave Ye the Big Lolita a nod and smiled, but Ye the Big Lolita, looking into her green eyes, felt a nauseating, sticky aura from her, and some of her features also startled her.

”Large-scale Biological Computer?”

Lady Keramos chuckled, not denying, and in an oddly accented voice asked, ”I want to know the specifics of the Holy Brain transformation process.”

Ye the Big Lolita frowned, ”Actually, I’m not too sure either, only know each high-level manager of the Holy Brain Group undergoes this transformation, and once completed, spiritual power surges up a tier, like B-Level to A-Level, A-Level to S-Level; plus, after the transformation, the subjects often have a significant change in demeanor, becoming mystical every day, acting as if they’re trying to achieve immortality.”

”Cultivation?”

”An ancient novel genre, it’s quite interesting.”

”Oh,” Keramos nodded, ”We checked his brain structure and found that his brain seems to have mutated, with no conventional surgical traces.”

”We also checked, he doesn’t have any memory of ’Holy Brain Surgery’,” Little Lady No. 2 said, ”There are two possibilities. First, his memory was deleted, but that’s impossible because if it was just deletion, it couldn’t escape our observation.”

”Then the second possibility is that his memory is stored in another brain, which might be the ’Holy Brain’ you mentioned.”

”A person with two brains, how can such a creature exist?” Ms. Qiao exclaimed in shock.

Little Lady No. 2 and Keramos exchanged a glance and laughed without speaking.

Ye the Big Lolita, at the thought of having to grow a second brain, looked a bit distressed.

”Can you locate the ’Holy Brain’?” she asked directly.

”It wasn’t possible at first, but fortunately, we’ve recently reverse-engineered the Knight Order’s biomechanical technology and developed some interesting things, but it requires a little time to prepare.”

”How long?”

”At least a day.”

Ye the Big Lolita thought for a moment, ensured she could still keep the secret, nodded in agreement, and suddenly asked:

”Is that Mr. G here too?”

”Yes, he’s catching up with old friends,” Little Lady No. 2 said with some emotion, clearly recognizing these ’old friends’ as well.

Gao Gong indeed was catching up, pushing a super-sized wheelchair with Fat Xiang, who was missing two arms and a leg, sitting on it.

Beside them, Aunt Xiang looked displeased.

However, her dissatisfaction was not directed at Gao Gong, but at her foolish son.

”You, not getting married, not having kids, running off to the battlefield every day, and look at what happened, getting blown up like this, yet still wanting to go back. Do you have a loose screw in your head? Do you just enjoy getting hit by missiles so much?”

Fat Xiang, now holding a position of considerable authority, could only smile awkwardly, not daring to speak.

Gao Gong chuckled, ”Everyone has their own ambitions. If nothing else works, I can clone a son for you to rely on for your old age, more obedient than this one, for sure.”

”I don’t want those fakes,” Aunt Xiang rolled her eyes.

”Mom, if nothing else works, why don’t you team up with Old Sun for a living,” Fat Xiang suddenly said out of the blue.

”What nonsense are you talking about, kid!” Aunt Xiang slapped him, fuming.

However, seeing Aunt Xiang with an expression that’s not entirely natural, Gao Gong wondered to himself, could something really be going on?

Old Sun, a weapon maker for the Classical Stream Mechanical Hunters, had been friends with Aunt Xiang for decades. Is it truly a case of old love blooming again?

Nevertheless, Gao Gong didn’t continue to gossip. He pushed Fat Xiang around to greet a circle of old acquaintances.

Daisila and Professor Han were not worth mentioning.

There were other old acquaintances each with different experiences.

Mendo, the former strongest from the Cable Tribe, had completed carbon fusion, becoming a frontline hunter powerhouse.

But equally, it marked his 36th failed love confession to Little Lady No. 2, because she didn’t find him flamboyant enough.

Matsushima Keiko, a Japanese dual-sword girl, was also left waiting indefinitely for Fat Xiang’s proposal. In frustration, she shaved her head, no, became an assassin, and was now in the mission phase.

Mechanic Huang Wen had fully embraced the ’Consciousness Upload’ route, his choice similar to Gao Gong’s in a past life. However, he wouldn’t sell a ’Rich Lady Companion Device’, only following the camp slowly upgrading.

Three-Eyed Lolita Moli joined the biological research department, and Du Zhaodi’s secretary Little Doudou became the finance manager. Former advanced warriors of the Security Corps, such as Genetic Major General Gram, Battle Saber Major General Zhang Feng, and Female Major General Frey... all transitioned to Du Gao Technology for their career prospects, each developing their own path.

Swordsmen Tamil, Cowboy Apu, Sunx Tu, Cold Blood, White Bone, Clamp, these advanced hunters from the Iron Sand Desert, also became core members of the camp, now either managing or stationed at various sub-base camps.

To Gao Gong’s relief, in the original storyline, most of these people would’ve died.

Although he caused various problems everywhere, at least he brought some positive changes to this ’Newbie Village’.

Watching Aunt Xiang talk her mouth dry to no avail with Fat Xiang, Gao Gong asked:

”Have you made up your mind?”

”Yes.”

”You can’t continue with ’Biological Hunter’, and with your current condition, you can’t undergo large-scale mechanical transformation either. So, you want to transfer to the Knight Order as a ’Biomechanical Knight’?”

”I want to give it a try, Professor Han also said I’m suitable,” Fat Xiang paused, then added, ”And I want to inherit Brother Shan’s legacy.”

Gao Gong was a bit surprised, ”You mean, that Construct?”
