Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 711: Chapter 236: Super Technology - AT Force Field

In the Cyber Test Field, employees belong to the corporation’s assets.

That means, don’t even think about suing for overtime pay, not even your life belongs to you.

The larger the corporation, the more severe the punishment for employees.

The punishment for employees of the Eternal Life Conglomerate is very unique, called ’Death God Eternal Life.’

Sumer is in despair because he has seen ’Death God Eternal Life.’ Some old employees who caused significant losses to the group can even be traced back to the Civilization Era, being punished until now, over two hundred years.

They maintain their life force in some way and undergo all kinds of horrifying punishments, such as the mildest one, wearing a special ’psychiatric restraint clothing’ and repeatedly enduring the torture of skinning.

He’s seen those despairing eyes, eyes with a desire to die but unable to.

After experiencing that ’Employee Ethics Training,’ Sumer swore to himself to prioritize the KPIs given by the corporation above all else.

But who would have thought that a surefire war would end in a disastrous defeat.

The emissaries of the corporation are probably already on their way.

At this thought, Sumer was overcome with despair.

On the contrary, the Director of the Southern Hemisphere for the Eternal Life Conglomerate, from the Xie Family, remained relatively calm.

Indeed, he would also face repercussions, but as someone from the High-Orbit Industrial Xie Family, he had backing and wouldn’t fall to the level of wearing ’psychiatric restraint clothing.’

However, his title as director is likely to be stripped away.

No official title, free at last.

He’s now more concerned with another point.

Does a Cybertron starship have such power?

This is currently the only clue.

Director Xie continued to browse through the war data.

However, this data was pitifully scarce.

All battlefield video, space station footage, including the memory chips of combat personnel, were all deleted.

That is to say, in this battle, they lost, and they don’t even know how they lost!

”Such terrifying hacker technology, but that’s not the point; what the other side is trying to hide is the key factor in the victory or defeat of this war!”

Director Xie unwillingly opened a holographic projection, revealing a competent woman in work clothes standing on an island, with the massive shadow of a starship overhead.

He inquired of the Artificial Intelligence:

”Have we contacted Cybertron?”

The Artificial Intelligence responded:

”We’ve already made contact. Cybertron has confirmed the loss of a Tier 3 battleship, and they have dispatched a ’Punishment Squad’ to prepare to enter the planet’s interior. However, during the corporate war, no interference factors are allowed to enter the planet’s test field.”

”Can we retrieve the specific parameters of this ’starship’?”

”Application is in progress.”

Director Xie stared at the holographic projection of Du Zhaodi, his expression gradually changing. Director Du is not a woman who immediately captivates you at first glance, but as a member of the ’Mechanical Clan,’ he could clearly feel that damn charm of this woman.

”So, is this the reason for the defeat in this war, a femme fatale?”

An elderly voice sounded.

Unbeknownst to him, another holographic projection emerged, with a background of the vast universe.

Director Xie quickly stood up, ”Emissary, you—Grandfather!?”

In the holographic projection, a massive mechanical life form was moving, its body size was between a ’starship’ and a ’fortress,’ but its volume was ten times that of a starship.

A Space Fortress!

And this Space Fortress was Director Xie’s grandfather, a high-orbit mechanical body.

Director Xie’s physical body was separated from this Space Fortress.

The voice of the ’Space Fortress’ sounded again.

”Let me see what kind of beauty would make you, this little thing, willing to lose corporate interests just to raise a ruckus. I thought you had lost aesthetic appreciation for carbon-based life forms... Oh, what a beautiful lady!”

The ’Space Fortress’ initially spoke with a tone of mockery and frustration at his incompetence, but upon seeing Du Zhaodi, it couldn’t help but gasp in amazement.

To carbon-based life forms, Du Zhaodi was just Du Zhaodi, a woman with severe features, generally unappealing.

But in the eyes of the ’Mechanical Clan,’ beneath the bionic cortex, those beautiful components, the mesmerizing mechanical aesthetics in her eyes, and that graceful figure, every move seemed involved in operating a complex and grand mechanical system.

Beauty, an absolute beauty!!

A national beauty! The nation in ’industrial kingdom!’

Elegance and intellect! The center in ’central control system!’

Originally, Director Xie only thought about enduring a scolding, but now he felt even more uneasy.

The beauty he’s set his eyes on seemed to have the prospect of being taken away by his own grandfather.

As expected, the old yet vibrant mechanical voice from the Space Fortress resounded again.

Somewhat sleazy.

”My little darling, originally, I was summoned by group headquarters to come here to properly punish you.”

”But if grandpa can win over your grandma, then I will take this matter upon myself for you.”

”Grandpa, I saw her first!” Director Xie exclaimed, his face turning red with anger.

The Space Fortress snorted coldly:

”You haven’t even done your job well, and you’re thinking of flirting. I think you need to head to the family’s ancestral hall to reflect properly.”

”As for the matter of you producing the next generation, don’t consider it for now. Wait until my industrial system with your grandmother’s evolves.”

Director Xie was extremely angry, but he did not dare to retort.

The Xie Family has a family rule.

Seniority equals backup.

In the Mechanical Ancestral Hall, the higher the seniority, the stronger the self-constructed mechanical body.

The stronger the mechanical body, the more backups it can divide, and the greater the clan’s power.

And he was just one of the opponent’s thousands of ’backup grandsons,’ not even one of the foremost ones.

...

Gao Gong naturally wasn’t aware that someone had their sights set on his own rich lady.

But if they did, it wouldn’t be surprising.

The allure of the shipgirl to mechanical life is akin to a 2D waifu to an otaku, a young wife to a toy boy, or a loli to a pervert; it’s a natural, pure attraction.

In his past life, the reason Gao Gong invested heavily in building a ship was purely because he wanted to sail it.

Gao Gong appeared in a mecha factory littered with wreckage, without alerting anyone.

The main force wasn’t there, and it was evident that Director Du planned to capitalize on their great victory to reclaim lost ground, perhaps even drive the Eternal Life Group out of this corporate war.

Such feats of the small overcoming the large have occurred in corporate wars.

And as long as they could disrupt the ’participation quota’ of the Eternal Life Conglomerate, even this super conglomerate would be rendered useless.

This is also a measure under the Mother City System to protect ’small enterprises.’

As long as you could progress on the technology tree, no matter how large the super corporation, it could be overturned momentarily.

With the ’President’s’ authority, Gao Gong quickly got the casualty list and saw a familiar name.

”Single God is dead?”

Fate is truly fickle.

This former War God of Mother City had just escaped from his heart demon, yet perished in a corporate war.

Gao Gong remained silent for a while.

Then he saw another familiar name.

Fat Xiang

Fat Xiang wasn’t dead, but over 70% of his parts were gone.

According to the records, he was hit directly by a special ’invisibility missile.’

This missile, whose origin was unknown, was not on the market and thus had no known countermeasure.

Although the dual blessings of mutant species and Giant Hunter granted Fat Xiang formidable life force,

with over 70% of his parts gone, the chances of returning to the battlefield were almost zero.

Unless he changed his technological path.

”However, after this incident, Aunt Xiang probably wouldn’t want her beloved son to fight on the front lines any longer.”

Gao Gong wasn’t a person of overflowing sympathy, but with fewer and fewer acquaintances, he felt uneasy.

After all, NPCs aren’t players; when they’re dead, they’re truly gone.

”It seems that the ’Biological Retention Device’ needs to be developed quickly.”

Although the ’Nest Repairer’ also has the function of ’uploaded personality,’

actions like ’uploading personality and cloning a body’ pose ethical problems.

Who knows if the ’resurrected dead’ is really the original owner.

In the universe, many civilizations consider such actions a taboo.

If it’s just about ’managing power,’ then using it is fine.

But Gao Gong aims for ’Civilization Ascension,’ which makes it a serious issue.

Civilizations with ’ethical issues’ have a low probability of successful ascension.

He can’t be as unscrupulous as the Cyber Test Field.

However, the ’Biological Retention Device’ is different. It’s not about copying a personality but allowing one personality to control two organisms.

This way, even if one organism is finished, it won’t be entirely lost.

To build such ’Civilization Architecture,’ it doesn’t use ’cloning technology’ but ’biotechnology.’

Gao Gong opened the system panel and switched to the ’mission rewards’ tab.

Among them, the icon for Transformation Technology*6 was still lit.

[During this mission, the Du Gao Military Group destroyed a total of 6 super mercenary squads, gaining 60 million alliance experience, and randomly dropping 6 types of enemy transformation technologies]

Gao Gong clicked on it casually, and soon, various transformation technologies popped up, including an advanced energy cannon implant enhancing firepower, a special type of invisibility missile, a ’cell-burning’ biotechnology, plans for building a sky carrier, and a blueprint for a Type IV Energy Reactor with 50% efficiency increase.

And there was even a ’Super Technology.’

’AT Force Field’

A type of domain technology.

And even the Du Gao Group only had one such technology, ’Super Mecha Technology.’

Civilization architecture is powerful, but demanding heavy costs means only one can be built, not mass-produced.

Shipgirls are also formidable, but they are Tier 3 top-level soldier species, and without a Tier Six Master of the Virtual at the helm, and the talent of Ms. Du with three templates being sufficient, creating a shipgirl is more improbable than wishing for your mom.

However, this kind of ’Super Technology’ is applicable on a wide scale.

This also means that once developed, every mecha can be equipped with an ’AT Force Field.’

What’s even more intriguing is that this technology originated from a group Gao Gong hadn’t even imagined.

Arasaka Group.

When did Arasaka, those old devils, get involved in corporate warfare?

Gao Gong hasn’t even made a move, yet they’re already reaching in.

”Interesting.”

Person G murmured to himself.

”Other mercenary groups might forget about a completed mercenary war, but we at Du Gao Technology are very vengeful.”
