Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 731: Chapter 256: Cyber Fat Pig

The supreme and wise Chairman emerges again after a day of seclusion.

The organizational meeting is called immediately.

The meeting room is packed with silhouettes of individuals in high positions of power, yet it’s quiet enough to hear a pin drop.

The executive secretary, yet another new male secretary, appears, looking like a very cute puppy.

Gao Gong’s secretary rotates periodically, with each member’s company sending a secretary to serve the Chairman.

This also strictly prevents any company from getting too ’close’ to the Chairman.

Gao Gong doesn’t mind this, except for one small nuisance—why are they all male secretaries?

Is it so hard to find a curvy, attractive lady? Or is there some misunderstanding?

”Chairman, 16 biotechnology companies have submitted membership applications. Here is their information.”

The male secretary first hands the information to Gao Gong, then passes copies to each member of the association.

”Are there that many biotechnology companies? Did these companies even participate in the corporate war?” one member couldn’t help asking.

”Do you think that after witnessing such ’splendid scenery’ they could sit still?” another person quipped.

A few representatives of biological institutions in the association nodded in agreement.

’Splendid Scenery’ is what they call the SSS+ tree.

Although according to the system’s naming, it should be called the ’Radiation Life Tree.’

The last time Gao Gong heard a name like this was for the top of the four legendary books in martial arts, the ’War God Atlas.’

Things called ** Atlas seem to be pretty impressive.

But for some Biological Transformers, seeing that ’tree’ brings a ’Honey, quickly come and see God with Bull Demon King’ kind of feeling.

Only ’splendid scenery’ can describe the scene at that moment, even ’God’ as a term, falls short of grandeur.

Although this ’splendid scenery’ only lasted a few seconds.

It was enough to drive every researcher in the biological domain on this planet mad.

”Considering it is still the corporate war period, all outsider membership requests will be temporarily shelved and processed uniformly after the war ends,” the male secretary, signaled by Gao Gong, began speaking, ”Of course, these applicants must also abide by our Research Association’s rules and get approval from two-thirds of the members.”

The executive members present merely glanced through the applications and put down the list, knowing this was just a small appetizer for this meeting.

Silence only lasted a few seconds before a tall Mechanical Transformer stood up, representing a heavy mechanical company, Chaston wasn’t ’mechanical’ at all; instead, he simped to the extreme, bending his mechanical waist 90 degrees, respectfully saying:

”Chairman, here is the ’Sky Fortress’ design map you requested.”

[You have obtained a Level 10 Large Mechanical Blueprint ’Sky Fortress’]

Level 10 is already the technological limit of Tier 2 forces, and adding ’large’, its preciousness is self-evident.

For comparison, it’s roughly equivalent to Du Gao Technology’s ’Pioneer Mecha Design Map.’

However, no one present thought Gao Gong unworthy; they sincerely believed it was rightful, after all, a being capable of deciding everyone’s life or death with a single thought ought to claim the greatest benefits, or it would make people uneasy.

Gao Gong nodded in satisfaction, accepted the precious technical documents, placed them at hand, then calmly said:

”I invited everyone here this time primarily to discuss the future.”

He paused and said:

”You’ve all witnessed Du Gao Technology’s military might, which is truly terrifying, and their executives are extremely arrogant; even my personal involvement hasn’t done any good. In this situation, if we don’t unify our stance, we might as well surrender outright. At least that way, I could negotiate a decent agent position for you.”

The company representatives present all expressed agreement, realizing that at this point, anyone who still thinks they can win this great battle alone is deluded to the point of comedy.

Chaston stood up again, speaking righteously:

”But after all is said and done, we are a Federation composed of 30 enterprises, each with different brain-computer integration schemes, and even if we break through to the third phase, which route should we choose for our ultimate brain-computer path?”

With these words, murmurs spread throughout the meeting, and many wore complicated expressions.

A loose, peculiar Alliance can come together when facing a formidable enemy, but without interests binding them, without unified beliefs, the Alliance’s foundation is loose. That’s why, despite the Research Association having the strength of 30 enterprises, it could never expel the other four; although each of those four giants is indeed formidable, just on paper, the Research Association overwhelms them 3 to 4 times over.

Everyone is like crabs in a pot, pincers gripping pincers, none willing for a ’good brother’ to go first.

”So, I believe that instead of fighting among ourselves, we should sit down and discuss, select a path that suits the majority, focus on that technological route, and then quickly achieve the unified ’Electronic Brain Plan’ in the Southern Hemisphere!”

Many looked puzzled; the words and logic were indeed correct, but why were they coming from you? We’re all wise old foxes; what do you think you’re playing at?

Many eyes looked towards Gao Gong’s face, which was distinct and expressionless.

”I think Chaston makes sense!”

”I agree! I agree!”

”We truly, truly have no time left!”

In the meeting, some shouted loudly, some hung their heads in frustration, and some tried to persuade earnestly.

Yet, the silent ones grew even more silent, with many of them even falling into contemplation.

Only now do they realize they have somehow fallen into a big pit.

Though they dug this pit themselves, it seems the one who kicked them in is none other than the Chairman in front of them!

This ’pit’ is vast, and the connections run deep. Everyone has become accustomed to being together, clinging to and relying on each other.

Indeed, following the normal process, most of the thirty companies would be kicked to the second phase, but those that remain would be reborn and make rapid progress. After all, war is the best catalyst for technology.

However, relying on sheer numbers, the unrivaled prowess of the Chairman, and the backdoor provided by the Hacker Corps to reduce risks, they kept winning and winning, to the point where they couldn’t upgrade their existing brain-machine technology.

Dang it, it seems we’ve been pua’d!

And now, with the second phase at a critical junction, it’s too late to break away.

They have missed the prime evolutionary juncture for enterprises.

”So what do we do now?” Gao Gong looked worried, his expression suggesting he was genuinely concerned for the members.

”At this point, our only option is to choose the most broadly applicable technological path and ensure that everyone in the association fairly enjoys the corporate benefits of the Electronic Brain Plan!”

Chaston declared word by word, righteously:

”I believe we should abandon all the brain-machine schemes and adopt the Chairman’s ’Virtual Helmet Plan’!”

Though many anticipated this, hearing it made several twitch, stealing glances at Chaston’s behind.

Aren’t you 100% mechanically modified, with all reproductive organs removed? Since when did you start selling your ass!?

By now, any smart person present would know that Chaston somehow slipped through the backdoor to become the Chairman’s stooge.

Never mind how convincing the act is; the key is his stance is spot-on!

Damn, so envious!

”Chairman, I think Chaston has a point!” A company representative immediately stood up, starting to pledge allegiance. Others remembered this company’s brain-machine technology was the weakest.

”That’s right, Chairman, I agree!” Another company representative stood up.

Their brain-machine scheme wasn’t weak, but through the corporate war, a fatal technical flaw was discovered.

”I agree, Chairman!”

”I think the ’Virtual Helmet’ technology is not bad!”

In any class, the majority are always average or struggling students. Under such influence, even the ’good students’ have to accept the metaphorical ’cigarette’ passed by the Chairman, or else they’d truly be left out.

Gao Gong ’pondered’ for a moment, then said seriously: ”Since everyone feels this way, fine, let’s start with the Mechanical City we control, quickly dismantle the various models of ’brain-machines’, and establish a virtual helmet joint production line. I’ll immediately provide you with a technical integration plan.”

Many people’s mouths twitched. Chairman, your acting isn’t that great, you said it so fluently, must have practiced a lot before.

”Don’t worry, although I am the Chairman and it’s my virtual helmet technology being adopted, all the benefits of the ’virtual hardware integration’ will be evenly distributed, with each company getting a share, ensuring no one suffers a loss.”

Some company representatives felt mentally balanced after hearing this. Even if they couldn’t eat meat, sipping some soup wasn’t too bad.

Besides, if the boss is drinking soup, what more could you ask for?

More crucially, although they couldn’t take the lion’s share, serving as the primary supplier for the Electronic Brain Plan during the corporate war was enough to report back to headquarters. They couldn’t really have their brain lobes removed, soaked in formaldehyde, or upload their consciousness to become endlessly working corporate slaves.

No matter how abnormal everyone ordinarily is, the biological instinct to survive still exists, and they all fear death.

”I hope in the coming time, everyone will work together to quickly resolve the production capacity issue of the ’helmet’.”

Gao Gong paused:

”As for me, the Chairman, I will quickly resolve the issues with Soul Recognition Technology, Confidential Electronics, Planet Energy, and Johnson Group, convincing these four second-phase players to join us!”

”Within a month, we must integrate all the Southern Hemisphere’s resources to counter the monster that is Du Gao Technology!”

”Chairman is wise!”

”Chairman 666!”

”Is the Chairman finally making a move? Once you act, those clowns are doomed!”

Although the Chairman’s words contained a paradoxical beauty, everyone ignored it and responded warmly.

The reason is simple: initially, even if the Chairman possessed invincible strength, no one would abandon their technological path. Even if it meant death, without a bit of madness, who would mix in the Cyber Test Field?

But now, everyone has been fattened up and eased into comfort. It’s nice to eat meat, but sipping soup isn’t bad either.

After all, there are 29 other lucky (unlucky) ones with me.

The people present could be sure, others were thinking the same thing.
