Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 723: Chapter 248: Du Gao Mecha Corps

The Cyber Space is gone, naturally, there can be no backups on the network.

These five split accounts are everything the other party has.

For others, these accounts are scattered far and wide, and heavily isolated, making them very difficult to find.

But for Gao Yuanyuan, ’brain-searching’ is as simple as eating and drinking.

And if everyone on this planet had a brain-machine installed, all major institutions would become ’Gao Yuanyuan’.

Watching as Paradise Bird inspected the memory in her consciousness backup one by one, including secret data like underground accounts and client lists, ’Black Leaves’ gradually turned pale.

Among these clients, there are many important figures that absolutely cannot be offended.

He has completely leaked information!

A hacker who has leaked information is no different from a dead hacker.

However, moments later, Paradise Bird stood up, frowned, and shook her head at Gao Gong.

No information related to Avalanche was found.

Gao Gong stared at the snowflake dots on the disc.

Could this be a meticulously planned coincidence?

Gao Gong shook his head. If it truly was a ’coincidence’, then there are too many suspicious points.

”Can I... still survive?”

’Black Leaves’ asked somewhat heroically, feeling like he would inevitably be silenced as he had been stripped bare.

”You can, why not,” Gao Gong suddenly smiled and said, ”Watch a movie with me, and I’ll let you go.”

The disc was inserted into an old-fashioned projector, and soon, snowflake light spots covered the screen.

And ’Black Leaves’ expression gradually shifted from confusion to bewilderment. The two exchanged glances, clearly feeling the other’s human brain firewall voluntarily shutting down, as certain memory data slowly disappeared.

The scars on Paradise Bird’s face suddenly sparked, and then her entire being turned into a stream of data, diving into ’Black Leaves’ brain for a more thorough inspection.

As for Gao Gong, his fingers slowly tapped on the sofa’s armrest. Unbeknownst to him, the entire room appeared in a purple rhombic mirror, and there were countless such rhombic mirrors, hanging on the walls of the room, numbering no less than a hundred upon close count.

Every trace of space and environmental change couldn’t escape Gao Gong’s sight.

A level 60 Super Hacker, a spatial Destruction form; one virtual, one real.

If the two of them, combined, still can’t find anything amiss, then it’s almost certain, no one on this planet can.

Almost simultaneously—

”Something’s wrong!”

”There’s a problem!”

Gao Gong’s figure vanished.

Reappearing, he had a Bionic Man in his hand.

While Paradise Bird, emerging from the other’s brain, held a chunk of source code in her hand.

”What’s that you got?” Gao Gong asked.

”It’s the source file for their developed ’mining software’. When ’Avalanche’ was deleting itself to the source file, this segment of data was somehow bypassed. I don’t recall this software having that kind of function, do you?”

Gao Gong lifted the Bionic Man in his hand.

”During the operation of ’Avalanche’, this Bionic Man’s expression also slightly changed.”

With a touch of his hand, Gao Gong summoned a ’purple rhombic mirror’ on the wall, within which the Bionic Man’s pupils were enlarged, and artificial pores slightly expanded, evidently displaying a terrified expression.

”The mining software is also installed in this Bionic Man’s brain.”

Gao Gong then looked at ’Black Leaves’, whose expression had shifted from apprehensive unease to serene, a faint and indiscernible smile at the corner of his mouth, as he stared fixatedly at the snowflake light spots.

”Mining software!”

The two said in unison, then exchanged a knowing smile.

”Most likely, this guy used the mining software and extracted something during the gold-digging in the sea of collective consciousness, although he is unaware of what he excavated. Therefore, there are no records regarding this in his memory backup.”

The sea of collective consciousness is a certain region of the data ocean, and the ’water’ is the large overflow of data produced during the brain’s computational process.

Gao Gong paused for a moment, then said:

”It is precisely because there’s a connection between the mining software and ’Avalanche’ that ’Avalanche’ bypassed the mining software.”

Paradise Bird nodded: ”That’s what I was thinking, but I’d like to add that it might not be something excavated by the mining software in his brain since all mining software source codes are alike, meaning all users of such mining software could be suspects.”

”Yes, we cannot rule out that possibility,” Gao Gong said, pointing at the ’software installation list’ that Paradise Bird had just retrieved.

”But having a direction, what remains is a matter of persistence.”

”Alright, leave that part to me—”

Paradise Bird wanted to say more when suddenly her brow lifted, pointing at the communication device on her wrist.

”Someone has been calling me here; shouldn’t you also be handling some business?”

Gao Gong sighed, and similarly opened the holographic communicator. On the holographic screen was a dense array of contact numbers. Who knew how many people had tried to reach him in such a short time.

”These days, even being a Counterfeit isn’t easy. Didn’t I say I just want to be a salted fish?”

”I’ll handle this matter. You better end the War quickly, or even the hackers who have to obey you to survive will start having other thoughts.”

”Oh? What thoughts could they have?” Gao Gong asked curiously, ”Besides the Virtual Helmet, do they have other choices?”

”No other choices, but they might choose to replace you to solve the problem,” Paradise Bird pointed at Gao Gong, ”The longer it drags on, the more people will have ideas, after all, those three old men aren’t suppressing them anymore.”

Talking about reason with hackers is probably like talking about feelings with prostitutes—it’s not just a mismatch of professions, but it also hinders their technical performance.

Gao Gong sighed and suddenly walked to the window, opened it, and saw that outside, he was surrounded by energetic youngsters with electronic tattoos, who had rudely implanted themselves with low-level Prosthetic Bodies.

”Friend, as an outsider who has come into our territory, isn’t it a bit unjustifiable to not pay a visit to us local bullies?”

The ringleader, a streetwise person, split his mouth wide, revealing a mouth full of yellow teeth, and a tongue made of ’polyethylene’ material.

Modding a tongue, good idea, I’ll try it someday.

Gao Gong gave a thumbs up for the ringleader’s idea.

”You guys are the local bullies?” Gao Gong asked with an innocent smile, ”Are you sure you can cover this place?”

”Heh, whether we can or not, why don’t you come down and see for yourself. If you don’t dare to come down, then we’ll come up?” said the opposing side confidently.

”Makes sense, anyway, the person picking me up will arrive soon, so I’ll come down, you guys wait for me.” Gao Gong’s silhouette soon disappeared from the window.

”Boss Snake, something feels not right, isn’t this outsider a bit too calm?”

”What are you afraid of, don’t be intimidated by him. Didn’t we check before coming over? There are only two of them; outsiders can easily enter but not exit the Kowloon Walled City. We’ve upheld this rule for so many years, we can’t break it because of us. Later, we’ll dismantle their organs and sell them to a familiar Prosthetic Doctor, leave the brain for me, I need two ’Human Brain Processors’.”

”Boss Snake, Boss Snake—”

One of the thugs tugged at Boss Snake, who looked displeased back at him; he was talking about street rules, what was this kid interjecting for? Suddenly, he felt a shadow above him.

Amidst the loud roar of engines, the sky was filled with various flying ships and warplanes. A Mechanical Fortress pointed its black Energy Cannon Port directly at their group.

And on the surrounding buildings, formidable corporate Transformers had appeared from nowhere, looking down coldly at their group.

These corporate Transformers were equipped with different styles of Mechanical Plugins, but without exception, they were extremely dangerous; any one of them could slaughter the entire Kowloon Walled City without difficulty.

”Out-outside people!” Boss Snake stammered.

It was the super organization that violently destroyed all settlements outside of the Kowloon Walled City and drove all ’artificial data’ into the city!

For the lower level gangs, they didn’t even know what the organization was called.

”Chairman!!!”

After Gao Gong rolled up his sleeves and walked out, everyone respectfully called out in unison.

”Oh, everyone’s here, and pretty fast at that,” Gao Gong stretched his waist, ”You all wait a moment, let me spar with this local big brother.”

Everyone’s gaze turned to Boss Snake, whose face turned pale, his mouth mumbling; he wanted to concede, because he felt at least a hundred laser targeters locked onto him.

”Buddy, do you think we should fight with words or with fists?”

Boss Snake looked at Gao Gong with pleading eyes, squeezing a fawning smile on his sweaty face.

”Not fighting? How boring,” Gao Gong said in disappointment, shaking his head and preparing to leave.

”By the way,” he suddenly turned around, staring at the artificial tongue, ”Is your soft implant useful?”

”It’s useful, all the widows in the area say it’s good!”

”You have taste.”

Gao Gong felt a kinship, casually waved his hand, and soon, 30 member security department employees started to withdraw, while a white light enveloped him, instantly teleporting him onto the Sky Fortress.

”Chairman.”

More than ten middle-aged managers bowed and greeted him.

”Targeting laser, whose technology? Our Du Gao Technology has it too, though it’s still in development, let’s exchange ideas when we have time, alright.” Gao Gong laughed cheerily.

One of the managers twitched the corner of his eye hard.

”Chairman, the opponent is launching a strong attack on us, we’re struggling to hold them back and had to come to you for help.”

”Who, Data Dream or Johnson Group? These bastards are bullying our Research Association again; don’t they have any conscience, we’re just a weak Peaceful Neutral Organization, aren’t we?” Gao Gong said indignantly.

The managers exchanged glances, their expressions peculiar.

”It’s not them, then who is it, Secret Electronics or Planet Energy?”

These two are also giants with a monopoly in the same Domain, and also competitors in the Electronic Brain Plan.

”It’s the Du Gao Mecha Corps!”
