Not Being a Trainer This Time

Outrage... it seems Clair is planning to make a desperate move! Naoki thought.

The move Outrage is very special. Its power is immense, but it sends the Pokemon into a frenzy, causing it to lose control and not listen to its Trainer’s commands.

Simply put, it ignores its injuries, its power rises, speed increases, but its rationality significantly drops.

In most cases, unless it’s a crisis moment, a Trainer would never let their Dragon-type Pokemon use this move.

In the blink of an eye, Dragonite charged at Koraidon, raising its claw high and swinging it down fiercely.

”Close Combat.” Naoki commanded.

Facing Dragonite’s attack, Koraidon extended its right hand, firmly gripping Dragonite’s wrist to block the assault.

Its left hand clenched into a fist, using its strong arm to elbow Dragonite.

The tremendous force sent Dragonite flying, crashing into the grass, eyes rolling back as it lost the ability to battle.

Brother Indeedee stepped forward to check on Dragonite’s injuries, then announced the result of the battle.

”Ai ee!”

Dragonite is unable to battle; Koraidon wins this match!

”As expected, I still lost.” Clair took a deep breath, retrieving Dragonite with a Poke Ball: ”You’ve worked hard, Dragonite. Now you can have a good rest!”

”No wonder you’re someone to be reckoned with, Naoki-senpai!” Clair lifted her head, looking at the young man opposite: ”With this kind of power, I feel even my cousin might not be a match for you.”

Naoki raised an eyebrow, cousin? Are you referring to Lance?

”His name is Lance, just like me, he comes from the Dragon Taming Clan and he’s a very serious and responsible person.” Clair said with a smile: ”I think Naoki-senpai, you probably know him too. A few years back, you had a spar in the Unova Region.”

Naoki was somewhat surprised: ”He told you about that?”

Clair nodded: ”He’s also very interested in you, but he’s always busy with work and hasn’t had time to come here.”

Naoki nodded thoughtfully.

Lance’s work... could it be referring to the Pokemon Investigator of the Kanto League?

A Pokemon Investigator is someone who investigates the misuse of Pokemon across various places, similar to the International Police, bringing criminals to justice.

But Lance’s role as an Investigator is different from others; he often engages in undercover work, infiltrating dark organizations like Team Rocket to carry out investigations.

Thinking of this, Naoki couldn’t help but quip, a Champion going undercover, won’t he be recognized?

If Naoki remembered correctly, in the anime’s Ash arc conclusion, Team Rocket still existed, and Giovanni even sent the Team Rocket trio to explore the Paldea Region.

However, because the two regions were too far apart, Team Rocket ultimately couldn’t extend their influence to Paldea.

In the short term, Lance wouldn’t be visiting here.

”What are your plans afterward?” Naoki asked.

Clair thought carefully and replied: ”I think I should return to Blackthorn City, stay there for a while, and then go look at other places.”

Naoki nodded: ”Then I’ll wish you a smooth journey, and when we meet next time, let’s have another battle and let me see your progress.”

”Sure!” Clair agreed earnestly.

Next time they meet, she must make Naoki-senpai look at her in a new light!

Clair left Naoki Ranch.

This journey ended perfectly, she already collected Paldea Region’s eight badges, passed the Champion’s assessment, and also met Naoki-senpai.

The Paldea Region no longer had a reason for her to stay, so Clair planned to head directly back to Johto.

While waiting for the plane at the airport, she took out her Rotom Phone and contacted Lance.

Very soon, the call connected.

Lance, seeing it was Clair, guessed that she might have already battled that Trainer.

”How did it go?” Lance asked.

”Just like you, I lost.” Clair sighed helplessly.

Lance: ”...”

”His strength is indeed very strong.” Clair said: ”But more than that, there’s something else that’s been on my mind.”

Lance was slightly taken aback: ”What is it?”

”Naoki-senpai’s Dragon-type Pokemon are really numerous... I counted roughly, there are dozens of Dragonite alone, besides Dragonite, he has many other Dragon Pokemon. By comparison, his place truly feels like the real Dragon Taming Clan.” Clair said.

Lance: ”...”

Hearing this, the two from the Dragon Taming Clan fell into silence.

Lance recalled the Pokemon in his family’s Dragon Holy Ruins and became even more silent.

At that moment, Clair suddenly thought of something she hadn’t paid much attention to before.

”Did you know? Quite a few netizens are joking that you’re the Flying Elite.”

Because before becoming Champion, Lance always claimed to be the Dragon Elite.

Yet his Pokemon were all Gyarados, Charizard, and Aerodactyl, which aren’t Dragon-type Pokemon.

To complete his Dragon team, Lance even filled it with three Dragonite.

Lance: ”...”

Silence, a scene at another Kang Bridge.

Looking at Clair across from him, Lance said: ”Aren’t you just like me?”

Instantly, Clair also fell silent.

The cousins exchanged a glance and tacitly shifted the topic.

However, in their hearts, they made the same decision—once they were done with current matters, they would head to other regions to capture new Dragon-type Pokemon!

Like Salamence, Druddigon, Garchomp, as well as Haxorus and Hydreigon.
