Not Being a Trainer This Time

The wind is rising and clouds are gathering, and suddenly, snowflakes begin to fall from the sky.

But soon, the snowflakes vanish, replaced by a clear and cloudless night sky.

Naoki looks up at the constantly changing weather, then glances at the Moltres and Articuno in front of him.

They seem to be able to influence the weather!

As far as he knows, the only ones who can do this are the three legendary birds on Shamouti Island in the Orange Archipelago.

Does this mean their power is nearing that level?

Moments later, everything returns to calm.

The flames on Moltres’ body slowly retract, but compared to before, its flame-like feathers burn more fiercely, with bright red eyes shining brightly like stars in the night.

Articuno’s long tail lightly sways, and its body emits specks of blue starlight, making the whole bird look more agile and beautiful.

What a beautiful bird-type Pokemon! Naoki can’t help but exclaim.

Compared to Moltres and Zapdos, Articuno truly has high aesthetics.

After eating the rolls, the two Pokemon look at Naoki with sparkling eyes.

Naoki raises an eyebrow and asks, ”How do you feel?”

”Bu-kee-ee.”

Articuno flaps its wings and then gently nods, indicating that it’s feeling great.

Moltres, unable to contain itself, flaps its wings and flies into the night sky, leaving a trail of orange flames, circling around the pasture.

Watching the scene, Naoki suddenly remembers something.

Every year before the League Competition in the Kanto Region and Johto Region, a Sacred Fire ceremony is held.

And the Sacred Fire in that ceremony is said to be the flames of Moltres, reportedly the kind that never extinguishes.

”Tsk, really amazing.”

Naoki’s first thought is to ask Moltres for some flames to put in the fireplace, so the fireplace would never go out.

But they already have Slugma at home, so there’s no need for Moltres’ flames.

Moltres circles in the air for a while, then lands in front of Naoki with a contented look, joining Articuno in gazing at the human.

Seeing this scene, Naoki raises his eyebrows.

Hmm?

”Bu-kee-ee!” Articuno lets out a crisp growl.

Moltres also responded, ”Wo-hou!”

Through the Power of Viridian, Naoki quickly senses the thoughts of these two bird-type Pokemon.

He pauses for a moment, then says in surprise: ”You want to become my Pokemon?”

They seem to have only known each other for less than six hours, without even a battle, and Moltres and Articuno proactively offer themselves?

The swift pace leaves this human trainer a bit unprepared.

However, Articuno and Moltres nod firmly.

”Bu-kee-ee!”

”Wo-hou!”

Yes! They want to become this human’s Pokemon!

Not only because of the World Tree but also because the person’s strength has conquered them!

Because both of them lost to Zapdos.

And Zapdos was cultivated by this human named Naoki.

Being able to help Pokemon improve their strength so much, Naoki must be a formidable human trainer!

Yet, hearing these words, Zapdos suddenly interjects: ”Choo-choo.” (After all, it’s just to be able to reside on the World Tree.)

Articuno and Moltres immediately turn their gaze to Zapdos, their expressions revealing a trace of fluster at being exposed.

Moltres’ flames suddenly burn more vigorously, looking at Zapdos angrily and embarrassed.

Zapdos remains unfazed.

Accompanied by crackling sounds, its feathers all stand up, releasing large streams of yellow electricity.

Naoki: ”...”

Unfortunately, these three bird-type Pokemon fighting can’t summon the Sea God Lugia.

”Alright, stop,” he sighs helplessly.

Zapdos retracts the sparks, turning its head to look in a different direction.

Articuno and Moltres look somewhat flustered toward Naoki.

What if this human doesn’t want them to become his Pokemon?

Thinking of this matter makes Articuno feel a bit sad.

Upon first meeting, he was willing to make rolls for them, helping them become stronger, she actually quite likes him.

And Moltres anxiously said: ”Wohoo!”

They can help provide a ton of feathers! As long as they settle down on the World Tree!

Upon hearing this, Zapdos gave a disdainful look from the side.

It remembered a Bird-type Pokemon had once said it was paying for human affection.

Now, who exactly is more eager?

Naoki: ”...”

He couldn’t help but picture himself raising Moltres and Articuno in a pen, having them produce feathers every day.

However, speaking of it, the World Tree just happened to lack a suitable Ice Type Pokemon to create a habitat for Ice Type Pokemon, enriching the ecological environment on the World Tree.

Naoki turned his gaze to Articuno.

So here’s the question: Can Articuno use its ice and snow to create an ice field and snow mountain on the World Tree?

There aren’t many Ice Type Legendary Pokemon, apart from Articuno there’s only Kyurem, Regice, Glastrier, and Chien-Pao left.

Chien-Pao and Glastrier happen to be on the ranch too.

With the power of these three, maybe the ice field creation plan could be completed.

Then he could catch some cute Alolan Vulpix from the Alola Region to live there.

Once he gets older, he would leave the ranch to his kids, and go live a retirement life on the World Tree with Koraidon and the others.

On Monday he would eat sushi at the Explorer Team Guild, Tuesday he’d visit the Land of Dragons to play with Dragonite, Wednesday, the Land of Earth to play with Groudon, Thursday he’d go to the ice field and play with Alolan Vulpix, Friday he’d ride Rayquaza on a space adventure, and Saturday and Sunday he’d go fishing and picnicking with Koraidon, Cyclizar, and the others.

The fish caught could be made into Dragonite’s favorite Steamed Sea Bass.

This life sounds blissful just imagining it!

Thinking of this, Naoki’s gaze became resolute.

He looked at Articuno and Moltres, nodded and said: ”No need to produce feathers, you just need to collect the naturally shed feathers and hand them over to me.”

Upon hearing this, Articuno and Moltres were delighted.

Is Naoki agreeing to capture them?

Moltres lowered its head, gazing at Naoki’s waist.

Having long resided in the Indigo Plateau area, it had seen many human Trainers.

Moltres knew well that human Trainers would take out Poke Balls to capture Pokemon.

Next, according to procedure, Naoki should take out Poke Balls to capture them, right?

However, Naoki stood motionlessly: ”But, I have something else I want to ask Articuno for help with...”

Articuno listened attentively.

Moltres interrupted: ”Wohoo!”

Naoki was slightly stunned, then looked at Moltres.

”You want to enter the Poke Ball?”

Moltres nodded: ”Wohoo!”

Not entering a Poke Ball isn’t considered capturing a Pokemon!

Naoki: ”...”

This left him at a loss for words, it’s Naoki’s first time seeing a Pokemon so eager to enter a ball.

Naoki originally thought it didn’t matter whether they entered or not, after all, they wouldn’t be used regularly, just like Jirachi and Giratina living on the World Tree.

But Moltres seemed to believe that not entering a Poke Ball wasn’t capturing Pokemon, it felt a sense of crisis, unstable.

Strange...

”Alright, I’ll go get two Poke Balls!” Naoki returned to his room, unwillingly took out two empty Poke Balls.

Moltres was finally satisfied.

It stretched out its head, actively touched the Poke Ball.

The next second, its body transformed into a red beam and got absorbed into the ball.

The Poke Ball slightly shook, then calmed down.

This indicated a successful capture.

Seeing this, Articuno imitated Moltres, pressing its forehead against the Poke Ball.

Immediately following, its body also turned into a red beam entering the Poke Ball.

Soon, this Poke Ball also calmed down.

Holding the two Poke Balls in his hand, Naoki couldn’t help feeling a bit conflicted.

At this moment, he noticed a gaze.

When Naoki raised his head, he saw Zapdos looking at those two Poke Balls with a similarly complicated expression.

Naoki: ”...”

Zapdos: ”...”
