God's Imitator

Regarding this result, although Li Renshu felt slightly disappointed, she had actually prepared herself mentally for it.

After all, Cai Zhiyuan had previously said that whenever matters were left to a full group vote, it would be impossible to select professions like farmers or workers that appeared to have no advantages in the game.

No matter how much Li Renshu emphasized the importance of ”diversification,” it wouldn’t work but for Li Renshu, using collective voting to decide the community’s recruitment and future fate at such critical junctures was also a necessary process.

Whatever the result of the selection, it could be accepted.

”Then the last criterion is age.

”Let’s vote by different age groups.

”20 to 30 years old, hmm, 5 votes.

”30 to 40 years old, 7 votes.

”40 to 50 years old, 8 votes.

”Over 50 years old? 4 votes.”So between 30 to 40 and 40 to 50, let’s vote once more, choose one of the two.

”30 to 40, 5 votes.

”40 to 50, 9 votes.”

This result was somewhat surprising to Li Renshu, as she had originally thought that those voting for younger people would be in the majority but thinking about it now, perhaps the previous discussion had produced a subtle influence.

Previously, many people had emphasized the importance of knowledge structure, and actuaries needed to conduct various research and data calculations. The older they were, the richer their experience would be.

From the perspective of speaking power, there was a difference between actuaries and doctors as professions.

People in the community could potentially receive favors from doctors once they were injured, so the older a doctor was, the higher their prestige, and the greater their speaking power within the community. This was inevitable but actuaries were different, being inherently a supportive profession, and other members were unlikely to directly receive favors from them.

In this situation, older actuaries would actually have somewhat weaker speaking power.

After all, Community 17 was a community led primarily by young people.

Young actuaries would be more like fish in water in this environment, potentially creating the speaking power distribution problems mentioned earlier.

Combined with the diversity principle that Li Renshu had mentioned before, older actuaries could simultaneously optimize community diversity in both age structure and knowledge structure.

Many people naturally leaned toward the option of an older actuary.

Of course, they couldn’t be too old. People in their forties seemed like the optimal choice to many.

Li Renshu said nothing more and stood up to submit the motion.

[Motion: Recruit a female actuary aged 40 to 50]

[In favor: 8 votes.]

[Against: 3 votes.]

[Motion to recruit a female actuary aged 40 to 50 has passed. The community will screen within a certain range according to this requirement and admit a relatively suitable new player.]

The dust had settled, and many people breathed a sigh of relief.

Li Renshu also felt relieved. Although this wasn’t the best result she thought possible, it was completely acceptable.

Most importantly, this was a completely fair group decision, so regardless of whether this decision was right or wrong, all members would bear responsibility together.

”Alright, then just like when we previously recruited Dr. Zheng, regardless of whether everyone agrees with this new member’s selection, I hope everyone can welcome this new member with an open and inclusive attitude.

”Everyone has worked hard. Let’s rest well and wait for the new member’s arrival!” After Li Renshu finished speaking, she stood up from her seat.

Others also stood up one after another.

”Everyone worked hard!”

”Renshu, you’ve also worked hard. You’ve been busy this whole time, so take a good rest!”

Most people were satisfied with this result.

Soon, everyone dispersed.

Cai Zhiyuan didn’t leave immediately. After everyone else had gone, he said thoughtfully to Lin Sizhi, ”Lawyer Lin, have you noticed something?

”The timing of recruitment.”

Lin Sizhi looked at him, ”You mean, it changed from 24 hours to 48 hours?”

Cai Zhiyuan nodded, ”Yes.

”When we recruited Dr. Zheng, the Gallery gave us 24 hours, so we urgently discussed and finalized the candidate. I remember it clearly.

”But this time it became 48 hours.

”Does this mean that each time we lose a member, the interval for recruitment gets longer?

”If it only extends by 24 hours each time, that would still be okay.

”But if the time doubles each time, or even grows exponentially, then there might be situations where community members are vacant for long periods in the future.

”What would happen in such situations?”

Lin Sizhi considered for a moment, ”There are basically three possibilities.

”First possibility: leave it empty.

”If many people die, it means the community is weak, so they bear the disadvantage of having fewer people in multiplayer games and complete natural selection faster.

”Second possibility: actively recruit people.

”For example, in games with 4 to 6 participants, if 4 people enter, perhaps they would allow poaching one member from another community and returning with 5 people.

”Third possibility: being force-fed by the Gallery.

”According to the latest replacement rules, players kicked out by their original community are ’allocated to other communities according to relevant rules.’

”If other communities happen to be short-staffed and this player meets the requirements, then it’s naturally a win-win situation.

”But this possibility isn’t high.

”Because players who get kicked out are likely to be weak and probably have nothing special about their professions.

”So, kicked-out players might be force-fed to communities that are short-staffed, even if these communities don’t want them.”

Cai Zhiyuan nodded, ”Mm, I think so too.

”Or, there might be a fourth situation: forced merger.

”For example, if one community dies down to only 7 people and another community dies down to only 5 people, they might be forcibly merged together.

”This probably wouldn’t happen initially, but since recruitment has delays, when more players die in the future, there might be such situations.”

Lin Sizhi asked, ”Do you agree with this recruitment result?”

Cai Zhiyuan considered for a moment, ”Although it’s not my optimal choice, it’s still a sub-optimal choice.

”But this situation is different from Dr. Zheng’s case. For the purpose of maintaining community stability, we still need to carefully examine her.”

The two said nothing more and stood up to leave.

...

The next morning, everyone spontaneously gathered in the lobby, looking expectantly toward the lobby entrance from time to time.

A notification message appeared on the large screen.

[New player visa review completed. Will automatically fill the position as the new Player No. 8.]

[Please guide the new player to move in and familiarize them with relevant community rules to avoid violations.]

[Community is at full capacity and automatically closed. No longer accepting new players.]

Hearing the notification sound, everyone became excited.

”She’s here!”

At the community entrance, a woman with shoulder-length hair parted in the middle and wearing huge round-framed glasses was frowning as she surveyed the unfamiliar environment around her.

Everyone looked toward Fu Chen. Originally, matters of welcoming new members were always done by him but Fu Chen considered for a moment and still said to Li Renshu, ”This time it’s a female member, you should go instead.”

Li Renshu didn’t decline. She walked up to this new member and extended her hand, ”Hello, this is Community 17. I’m Li Renshu. Nice to meet you.”

The long-haired woman looked her up and down somewhat warily, then slowly extended her hand and shook Li Renshu’s, ”Luo Wei.”

Li Renshu turned sideways to guide her toward the lobby, ”You must have many questions right now. Come in first, and we’ll explain everything to you slowly.”
